I was in high school when MTV came into existence on cable tv (back when all it played was music videos) and this video was one that was on frequently. My best friend had cable and I didn't, so I'd rush over to her house after school so we could watch MTV while we did homework. Great memories.

I was blown away by the first 2 albums.
Back then we bought albums, not songs.
Every single song on every single album was awesome.
Every album took you on a journey.
Sting went on to become Mega singer.
Golden touch.
The Police were my favorite band for a minute back in the day.

Fun fact: Police were influenced by early reggae, but then THEY in turn had a huge influence on later reggae. Many bands of that style list them as inspiration.

Huge smile on my face this entire reaction. I LOVE the Police and Sting. I remember being 7 and going into my big brother's room and hearing them for the first time. This was in 1982. Instant love! I was lucky enough to catch them on their reunion tour and I've seen Sting solo like 6 times. Please check out King of Pain if you can! Thanks!

I just love all you do...you take all of US away, journeys back in time, your reactions are genuine and funny...but I have reacted this way to a few of them also like you do, the first time I heard them or watched the videos. Music and lyrics to songs can be metaphorical. Some will get one message and others will get something else. I think this was the first Police song I ever heard, back in '79 or so. Geddy Lee from Rush was on a radio show talking about bands he was really diggin', and he mentioned The Police. I hadn't ever heard of them. Then they played this song. It's still a magical song. Check out more Police tunes!
