  • hey everyone,
    This footage was taken from the live, but there is a bunch of extra stuff in there.
    Plenty of bites, but not all of them turned into fish, but at least we managed to get a few.
    Thank you to everyone for all your support, advice and kind words, I'm really enjoying this little journey.
    All the best,
    frugal

      Hey Chris, yeah I never even thought about it before, I figured big moon, bigger tides, and fish better. There is so much to think about😂😂

    Very enjoyable watch Dylan, when I do manage to visit usually go round the corner from there at shepherd chine, it's a little deeper, and great for rays and the like, bait wise keep some fish handy, ideally sandeel or pouting, if not maccky works to, may try upping your hook size 0/4 pennel and thumb size bait hope this helps a little mate, keep the vids coming Dylan,,tight lines

    • @FrugalOutdoors
      @FrugalOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks buddy, I haven't used pouting as bait, would you just cut into strips and bi d it up with thread👍👍

      @@FrugalOutdoors Hi mate try and make your baits a little bigger than strips, filet a side of pouting/ fish then cut along the middle length ways so you have a strip roughly 4in long inch wide 1/2 inch thick stick a 4/0 in the thick end and wip with elastic all the way up to other end then bring ya pennel hook down put 3 turns of line round it and hook into thin end that should find you a ray mate check out veals Web site videos and fishing bandits south wales on TH-cam they'll have all the info about catching rays mate, take care, good luck

      Thabks buddy, yeah it takes a fair while sifting through 5 hours of a live, but I normally film everything when making a video, so I can get a bite if it happens 👍👍

    They may be small mate but they all count.when you go there next time go 100yds to the left of the stream and fish the flood you'll catch alot more.👍👍

      Thanks buddy, I know there is a reef to the left, but I couldn't remember how far over. Cheers dude👍👍

      @@FrugalOutdoors it is bedrock all the way along that stretch but it always seems to fish better to the left.its where i had my one and only shore caught cod of 10lb 2ozs.had some nice smoothounds,sole and bass from there too.👍👍

    Another good watch Dylan, well done. Looks like a cracking mark, my type of fishing that. Like yourself, my last cast usually turns into another 5 last casts! Cheers, Gareth.

    Hi 👋 dude, I'm loving the content.. Love the enthusiasm 👍 that tide app looked useful which one is it, a lot of em are crap. Keep the vids coming mate.

    • @FrugalOutdoors
      @FrugalOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers buddy appreciate that. The app I use is called predict wind. Its mainly for sailing etc, but it gives the best tide forecast I've seen. You can only put 2 destinations in on the free version, but you can change them whenever. Then go to tables, and it gives moon, tide water temp wind etc. Much easier to use the graph of the tide. Especially here, as we have really funky tides. Cheers dude take care👍👍

    Practice makes perfect !! and the 'one last cast ' is a well known condition most anglers have suffered from at some stage !!

    • @FrugalOutdoors
      @FrugalOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey kev, yeah I definitely have that condition. I think it went on for over an hour the other night😂😂

  • @rogedoge204

    Tangled rigs = eels
    Clip down rigs are used for distance, at night time fish come in closer to the shore so flapper rigs and running ledger rigs are all you need really.

    • @FrugalOutdoors
      @FrugalOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah OK mate, thanks for that, I need to get rig making, so clipped in the day, and maybe just a flapper or just unclipped in the night👍👍

  • @rogedoge204
    @rogedoge204 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You make decent videos can you show your set up some day?

    • @FrugalOutdoors
      @FrugalOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah of course man, I'm a budget person, so it's all on my phone, and fortunately I have my old one, all be it it has a cracked camera. So just use those, I found a good tripod at a car boot, and about a hundred torches😂😂I have one on a tripod the whole time, and film everything using a battery pack for back up, then use the other one for selfie bits or showing bait etc. I'm hoping the quality is there, it's not the highest resolution, but hopefully it's ok👍👍

    A sad testament to the shocking state of the UK inshore fishery after decades of overfishing.

    • @FrugalOutdoors

      Yeah it's definitely hard going👍

      @@FrugalOutdoors It's not just the UK even here on the South Island of New Zealand it can be very hard to catch mutch decent fish from shore in many locations.
