I recall buying the cassette right before entering military service at the end of '87. Probably haven't listened to the album in its entirety since then. Downloaded onto my phone recently and listened to it while riding my motorcycle off-road. Can't believe how good it sounds all these years later.
I like rem the document album it was one of my favorites I listen to this when I was growing up it came out in the year of 1987 I will never forget I play it all the time just can't get enough of it
not a real good album, and DEFiNITELY NOT a landmark album. and yeah Reagen was a real president.. unlike clinton, bush and probably your two favorites Obama and This asshole ruining er running the country now.
Document WAS an excellent album, Reagan was a B-actor who was a D president, already exhibiting signs of Alzheimer's in his second term. And some people can't resist bringing baseless moronic comments about politics into these replies.
@@markb20 wrong, Socialist.. Reagen was the BEST President for Amwerica.. You Obamamites are so jealous and ignorant of the accomplishments of Reagan AND Trump.. whom you probably hate as well.. Sorry your SJW world is being esposed as complete Nazism,,.. But keep applauding Biden

All time fave REM albums are 1. Adventures in HIFI 2. GREEN 3. UP! 4. Document 5. Out of Time. A lot of fantastic music we're talking about here and going beyond that.
Gotta go with Green #1 Fables of the Reconstruction #2 Murmur #3 Document #4 and the dark horse- Dead Letter Office #5 Of course all subject to change and I obviously love the earlier stuff. Had the pleasure of seeing REM on the Green tour at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge. Tour Film right! Never will forget their final encore being a medley of Cameo’s Word Up and Springsteen’s Born to Run! What a show!!

Damn, Exhuming McCarthy sounds so good. It took me awhile to warm up to Document, but now 36 years later, I'm ready to proclaim it a masterpiece! I could do without "The One I Love" though. Not just that it's overplayed. I didn't really like that track from the get go. All others are great though!
The one I love you is an amazing song IMO. I was like 13 and I saw the video and I was totally mesmerized. At the time my older brother was into like TSOl, The Cramps, Bad Brains, Black Flag, etc. I liked them, but REM Document just blew me away.
Get one by Boytone. Cheap, but effective for a new bluetooth type of one. Or if you got some dough, get a Pioneer or Technics direct drive or belt drive. I personally like direct drive.

Also had the cassette (I even remember buying the last one at the record store, the clerk saying "damn, I wanted that last one!). You're right, bureaucracy. The album was about the Reagan times we lived in...
Just curious what is your player and stylus and setup to rip if ur willing to share? I'd love to get some of my vinyls ripped to add to my car. Thanks for posting this album rip, getting me through a grueling Friday. Peace!
This was the 1st R.E.M. album after listening to it I thought................this isn't R.E.M. It was an O.K. rock-like album......but it wasn't R.E.M. I guess some so desperately want something different even if it is.....inferior to what previously was great??? You can have it.......I turn my back on it.

Thanks for sharing this piece of art! Such a landmark album
It has so much more high end than the versions on other streaming services
What is this "Streaming" of which you speak? :P

Ich fühle mich dasselbe! Seit 1996, ich mag alles dass REM hat gemacht.
Remains my favorite REM LP.
Fallling in love again. . . .
Totally. Though I think I have four of those.
I bought it on cassette when it came out, I was in college then, and just as the cassette said put it in my collection and I FILED IT UNDER FIRE.
First REM album I bought! 2:40 - 3:00
Thank you for uploading.
Awesomeness! Thanks ✌️

Uhh Murmur is their best album. Don’t ever, ever say Monster, or anything else after Automatic For the People
Thanks! I bought this when it came out. I lost the CD sometime in the 90s and now I've got it back here and the audio is amazing.
Thank you!
Thanks a lot for this !

What, lewdfellows?
I apologize. Firemen work hard and play hard...😂

Why do the heathens rage behind the firehouse? My favorite REM song too!

It wasn't until playing this half way through that I remembered I have a vinyl copy of Document. It's a shame I don't own a turntable.

Great album...but leaves me feeling like I need an education, so many subjects and a little on the ominous side.

Oh Russell.
Did you dub this lp while filming ? Great use of shadow and the beauty of the disc turning, with displayed cover. It's like real life.
people who don't like R.E.M need to take a long hard look at themselves
Why?
Lol, I agree 👍
Or I’ll give them something to cry about lol

Damn evil !
I think our finest hour was missed in the 80's
Who’s on that horn on Fireplace?
The saxophonist of Los Lobos. I can't recall his name though...

Alongside Led Zeppelin and U2, R.E.M. are the most boring sounding band in the world. BORING.....and dated
Pardon?
