Nice one. This is one that I've never bothered with some reason. I am definitely convinced now. Thanks for the link. Good to hear it reads like a novel as well. Top notch tshirt as well👌
This was so good. I had my doubts also since I have never read a screenplay before. I thought it was going to read like a play, which I am absolutely terrible at reading, but it was not like that at all. It flowed very smoothly and I didn't want to put it down. It kind of gave me Needful Things vibes with the whole puppet master aspect of just fucking with everyone. I always come here as soon as I finish a book. Coming up next is Colorado Kid, Joyland, Revival, and Full Dark, No Stars. See you soon.
I’ve still not seen Midnight Mass. But, surely it’s more accurate to say MNM is like Storm of the Century? Given that the latter came out 20+ years earlier?
Legit gave me nightmares. Such a cool movie. Never did get the book. I also didn't get the diary of Ellen rembaurer or whatever are u gonna do that . Rose red was dope. And kingdom hospital. I didn't have cable at that time so these network tv series were fucking epic
really think you should branch off a little bit, maybe review tv/movies highly influenced by King's work. Mike Flanagan is a massive fan and I think Midnight Mass is the ultimate homage to King. would love for you to review that series
@@DaveReadsKing the subscription price is really high, I sympathize, so what I do is build up a playlist of things I know I will watch within a month and then sub for a month, typically around September or October. I then purchase it for a month and then immediately stop the recurring charges. so I only have 30 days to watch the content on my list. I think the Mike Flanagan content is worth it for one months payment. some of it is based on King's works, the newest series is based on Edgar Allen poe's work, and I really feel "Midnight Mass" is an homage to King's work. I hope you can watch it this year. I really think you would enjoy it! cheers!
Pure King. Some wacko repeat a phrase over and over again…. A whole town full of people with embarrassing skeletons in the closet, characters routinely hallucinating and everybody address the other by their full names. All the King tropes are there….and what could be a two hour movie is needlessly stretched out.
I absolutely loved the tv series. Must be over 20 years ago when I saw it. Thank you for this wonderful trip down memory lane!
You are welcome - you should give it a rewatch, it stands up really well!
I remember watching the miniseries when I was a kid, probably too young for it, but it really stuck with me. I wanted to read the book ever since!
I was really impressed with both!

Thank you! And yes, this one is definitely worth both a read and a watch...thoroughly enjoyable!

Thank you so much 🙌 see you in the comments soon!
Always good to see your videos, Dave!
Thankee-sai!
Originally, this was not on my Stephen King list. But now, it has officially been added.
Good. You should watch it too - it's great
@@DaveReadsKing I hopefully will if I find it
Ordered it even as I watched you talk about it!
Nice! I need some affiliate links 😂
His cameo was a TV commercial announcer
Yes, I remember - another for the list of neat little King cameos
I might give the book a try if the library still has a copy 👍🤔
This book sounds a little similar to needful things because of the villain
I get what you mean about the villain...he's much more sinister than Leland Gaunt. Much more...dangerous, I guess
I loved the TV series, thought the ending was the best Stephen King ending I've seen on TV, and I loved just how dark it was.
SO, so good...and yes, so dark!
Was a fantastic mini series
Totally!
Need to put this one on my wish list. Not much about the storm itself though... maybe it's linked to the creepy stranger somehow.
It’s truly a great read
its like midnight mass tv series

I’ve still not watched Rose Red or Kingdom Hospital yet - might have to cover them once I’m done with all his books
@@DaveReadsKing do it! And put up mini screen that shows it oh wait nm too long.

If I had Netflix then I totally would do that…sadly I don’t at the moment. Maybe one day though!

they only have Gerald's game currently but Flanagan also did Doctor Sleep which is no longer on Netflix
@JosephPAbate I’ve seen both of those already. I believe Netflix also made 1922, In the Tall Grass and Mr Harrigan’s Phone
you're on 19 likes, so leaving a "thumbs up" in the comments
Excellent work, thank you!

Fair enough. For what it’s worth I thought this series was excellent television - particularly for 1999 - and worked really, really well.
I have never watched the miniseries
It's well worth it, and has aged solidly
