Whilst they're not the go to broms, you are correct in saying their variety is enormous! They may not be showy like neos etc, but grown en mass they are outstanding and some of their inflorescences are gorgeous! I have about a dozen and really need minor care!
Hi Rusty - I love tillandsias! I have a couple dozen hanging in my cypress tree outside my kitchen window. I make fun ornaments with them wiring them to seashells, driftwood or treasures I find at thrift stores. I am always on the lookout for unusual varieties and visit Sundance at sale time to add to my collection. Thanks for your videos! Do you ever give tours at The Tangle?
Hi rusty thanks for the video. I think air plants are very cool. I have a bunch handing below my palm trees and I just sit under there and watch them do their thing! Your videos are very educational keep ‘em coming!
Great video! I have about 60 of them as they are avail all over here in SoCal. I like them mostly for their shapes and now Color as I had one green one day and a couple days later it was bright purple/pink. Just amazing plants. Also they take up no space unlike my large Broms.
this was a pretty interesting video, I always overlooked Tillandsias, since I usually prefer the look of wider-leafed bromeliads, but they're so varied and I can see now there's a lot of really cool ones. I'm also really very surprised about spanish moss being a bromeliad, I would've never thought that'd be the case.
Hi Rusty 👋 These are pretty cool! I guess I have never really seen them in our big box stores. And that's where I have purchased my bromeliads. (Mostly for the eye catching color) I would definitely be on the look out for some now. Thank you!
The box stores might not carry them because of their size, garden centers and brom nurseries are probably the best bet, although I have seen them for sale online. Thanks a lot for watching!
From my experience browsing posts by people who collect and grow a great number of varieties of Tillandsiae, it seems that many in the community of Tillandsia growers do not grow other bromeliads, and vice versa. It is also the case with online stores. From my experience, Tillandsia specialty shops rarely sell other bromeliads and vice versa. It seems that the differences in appearance and care requirements are enough to differentiated the growers into different communities.
So very interesting, I love bromeliads and have actually grown some outside. I do love the little air plants as well and had several at one time but they did not survive. What is the secret? thanks for the video, so much to learn about these beauties.
it's a little difficult to say since we dont know the growing conditions, but more often than not it is too much water... btw we have a video on how to grow Tillandsias, maybe you may find something that will help answer your question. Thanks so much for watching.
You've won me over. Im going on a shopping spree for Tillandsia
I love them rusty I have around 60 now I mount them on driftwood her in Perth Western Australia 🇦🇺
I'm a tillandsia collector and just ordered 2 bromelaids..to add to my airplant collection..❤
Nice video. Thank you. Love them all!!
Very interesting video. I have a lot of tillandsias but learned a lot by watching. Certainly not the least interesting to me!

They really are the easiest broms to grow IMO.
