My chemistry teacher got one of these after he quit teaching, I'm so glad he became a successful person after leaving teaching, he even got his son a Challenger! He sure is an inspirational person!
I feel like it lost its cool geometric art deco style that was a big part of the original design’s appeal. I would have loved if they had leaned further into that inspiration. Make it feel even more regal and expensive like a low cost Bentley or Rolls Royce.
The reason why the the silver version of the 300 sits up so high in the picture that you're showing is because its the AWD version. Back then they sat much higher than just the RWD version!
I sold my 2015 V8 300 for this 300C. I only have minor complaints like wireless charging and electric rearview mirrors. Otherwise, my girl is a beast and excited to take her on her first race.

It drives so well because it was and still is based on the 2002 Mercedes E Class platform (W211). While the E class have evolved into 3 subsequent generations (W214 latest) the 300 stuck with the old one. It’s amazing how a 20 year old Mercedes platform still delivers the goods two decades later!
It's not a Mercedes platform. It's a Chrysler LX platform that was partially related with Mercedes suspension, but visibly different. ,,The LX platform was derived from the older Chrysler LH platform, with front suspension built in-house and the rear setup sourced from the Mercedes-Benz E-Class". Also, during 2012 facelifting they have basically thrown out all Mercedes parts (such as transmission) other than some basic rear suspension layout.
@@rebeltvr6046 thats what I thought as well for years , until I checked it out on Wikipedia, apparently some Merc executives were quoted at the time saying that it shares parts with the W211. It would be even more amazing to see how well the W210 platform serves over 25+ years!
@@rebeltvr6046 and praised left and right by those who drove them. Shows a lot about just how far Mercedes goes with their engineering. It’s like having an iPhone 3GS that still runs neck and neck to today’s 14th gen iPhones, unreal!
You do realize that they updated this car in 2011 and face-lifted it in 2015 and the 23 and 15 are essentially the same car only major change is adding the 392 which is pretty easy seeing this sits on the charger platform that already had it
My dad bought a 2009 MY 300C 3.0 V6 Diesel (Europe) in 2009. We sold it in 2021 because of the strict CO2 regulations that are coming into force every year so it doesn't lose more value. Personally for me, it was, and will always be, the coolest looking sedan to ever step on the road. In the next few years I would buy one again (but on gas, not on diesel) if I find a good one. Here in Germany are very few left, less than 70 in total probably in the whole country being sold. Such a shame that the new model in 2013 became what Camaro and Mustang became and lost the American Muscle identity and looked like just another Honda or Toyota on the road. So far, only the newest BMW 7 Series give me that nostalgia of a big boxy sedan with a huge chrome grill on the front. But that one is expensive right now :D
Shame no mention of the 2011-2014 model years. I like those years more than the 2015+ ones. They kept the chrome inserts on the front bumper from the 05-10 years and the taillights look more luxury then the simple sport look of the newer ones. I just hate that they moved on to a more sportier look now but they still look really good.
Im not the biggest Chrysler fan, but the 300 is an underrated gem. The second gen styling took some time to grow on me, and I loved how low key, incognito the first gen SRT8 was. Very BMW/VW-esque less is more.
The 300C was designed from the Mercedes E-Class W210, why it was so well-received and continues to be beloved. Along with the Charger cousin, with the Hellcat variations, these cars sell as well if not more now than ever. Crazy that it's been 20 yrs and they're more popular than ever.
The one from the side view was the AWD model. They sat noticeably a bit higher than the non-AWD model. It was like that on Charger and Magnum too. The most recent models, Chrysler corrected that higher riding look on AWD models so you wouldn't be able to see it as much.
Still, and will always be the best looking sedan from the US. The presence alone is mesmerizing, everytime i see one on the road, intimidating yet majestic. Pretty sure a 300 "e" with basically the same body style will be huge, especially in the middle of melting blob luxury ev sedan like the EQE, Model S, or a crime againts people's eyes that is i5.
300 could translate easily into an SUV. Dodge Magnum wagon was based on 300 with design elements carried over into Durango. Would like seeing Ralph Gilles ideas
The 2015+ Chargers are straight fugly, but these 300Cs are absolutely gorgeous! I'm super disheartened they're actually killing the car, by the time I'm old enough to justify purchasing something at this price point it'll be 2045 and everything will be blobby cross overs.
This car was a dream for my dad, I really loved the 1st gen, I still remember when Ralph Gilles said the only thing missing were Dubs… It’s a modern classic, my only complain and makes me mad, it never had a Hellcat version, which was the proper way to say goodbye.
9:23 "if you look at the side view here you can barely see the headlights on the concept and the 2005 model but they changed that up into the 2023 model year to have to be a little bit more fluid and curvatures in the front end which loosely looks good but I definitely prefer the boxier front end of the previous models" I'm sorry, but you can clearly see the concept is more fluid like the 2010/2023 model where you can see the headlights on the side profile, the 2005 production version is the only one of the three with the boxier front end when you look at a side view.
this car is legit one of my favourite American sedan, it's the first time on modern (post 2000era) when a non luxury brand have some presence, and could actually look more luxurious than a luxury car, now that place is replace by the Whole Genesis line up, which look much more luxurious than it actually cost
The other thing is the best non v8 gets 0 to 60 in 6.3 which isn't great. If you go for the v8 you get 5.3s or 4.4s depending on size, which is goodish but then horrible gas mpg. Basically there's no advantage to this being a sedan. It's not light, it's not fast even with the v8, and it's not fuel efficient
now that i look at it, the new bmw i7 looks like it could be a modernization of the old chrysler 300, just connect the two sections of the kidney grille haha
I don't buy that stellantis didn't have enough engines that's all BS, they didn't want to invest the money in making more engines. Like always screwing over the chrysler 300 loyal fan base.
It's even more than that, though because they have to go through CAFE regs for this small run, plus I think they would have had to do another round of crash certifications. Now factor in all of the actual development and testing that would have been required. I will say that had Trump won in 2020, we'd have seen a Hellcat 300...
