In 2017 season they had 2 dm Auxiliary:7 dancers, 7 flags Instruments:2 flutes,4 clarinets,5 sax,7 trumpets,3 Mellos/French,2 baritones,5 t-bones,6 tubas Percussion:2 snares,2 tenors, 2 cymbals,no quads, and 1 bass. Now this year they have 4 dm Auxiliary:12 dancers, 9 flags Instruments:6 flutes,12 clarinets,6 sax,21 trumpets,12 mellos/French,10 baritone,20 t-bones,20 tubas Percussion:7 snares,9 tenors,12 cymbals,3 quads and 6 bass,that’s from 57 to 168 ppl. What a drastic change; he must have been making it rain with those scholarships.
That's what's gotta happen to get them students out practicing and all the hard work that comes with it. It ain't highschool no more, they gotta pay for that talent. 👊
Jss Pss UAPB had about 72 people in 97... upon entering the SWAC officially the next year, CA 98 had over 180 freshman in that class....I think we had about 55-65 upperclassmen.... When I saw Langston first hit the field I thought the same thing that you commented on... comparatively. Obviously their AD and the school opened up the funds to let them thrive and grow.... same thing happened to us. It doesn’t happen often... but it does happen. Good for them tho 👊🏾
SOLID field show and we aren't even in Sept yet. Sound was forceful, clean and well articulated. The flags added a nice "touch" as well. Enjoyed your show and have a terrific school year. I know your families are so proud.
This is a change from what i saw last year i am proud of what i saw, what a dramatic growth in size as well. sound quality is decent as well, yall cant do nothing but get better as the season progresses. i love the idea of doing a show at the end of band camp as well well done LUMP #gramfamalumni #worldfamedalumni #hbcubandlove
Glad they sound a lot better!! Growing up in okc back in the day Langston's band was great. Thanks for bringing that pride back, yall kids sound awesome. Yall are 1000% better, Keep it up!!
I didn't go to a HBCU and was never in a band, but you guys did GREAT. I love how everyone---- musicians, dancers, flag people, etc.,----- all took their contribution seriously and it looked fantastic. You can tell you all have been putting in the work and it shows!!! Congrats and I hope the people in the stands appreciate and support you all. Keep pushing for greatness!! AWESOME,
Impressive seeing as i never heard of this band. I’m a big SU and JSU fan n this just popped up on my feed. This is awesome seeing Black unity and musicianship at this level
This is the first time I've seen this marching band and I am impressed they sound so good. The DM's are lit! The entrance was good and I could hear everyone playing. The percussion has a thunder heart beat. Love all the old skool jams they're playing! Da Butt takes me back to my era as a percussionist for Fort Valley State College, in the middle to late 80's, now FVSU. Tear the field up Langston and I'm definitely gonna follow y'all!
Langston been around. The school was even featured on BET’s College Hill season 2 in 2004...The band has made appearances at the honda battle of the bands in 2005, 2006, and 2007....I think the program had financial issues and stuff like that so they kinda fell off a little bit. But now they are under new management and there back.
The Legendary Langston University Marching Pride Band has come up this year;"looking forward to seeing great things from this band and I'm pretty sure they will be in BOTB's and Honda BOTB's
I really like this Seth guy. I put hi up there with the DMs who head up Jackson and PVAMU. He inpires the others, who might get sloppy if they aren't lead right. want to keep up with him.
Lord, they definitely take me back to Dunbar days ... those alumni something else . Lol thanks for the mentality. Maybe I should have went to the LU instead of the Bluff🤔

Is Prof. Gordon still band director?
Lawwd they have gotten five times bigger!!in one year!
I've never seen a band get this big in one year ... hopefully it stays like this. Kids normally drop out once school starts due to partying etc

More trumpet. Other than that, nice sound for the band to be a healthy bit of freshman. Hope to see yall in a BOTB soon
Right, 21 trumpets should come through more than this.
