I had no idea and have been calling it a people mover for decades! As a huge Disney fan, I love knowing this little bit of history connecting the most magical place on earth with my hometown!

Disneyland doesn’t have a people mover, but Houston does!

They did at one time. DIsney destroyed it for another ride that flopped big time. Putting in the new ride pretty much destroyed the track that the peoplemover used. People want them to bring it back, but restoring the track would cost too much money.

@@brianmcdonald6519 And the Disneyland peoplemover, unlike the Disney World peoplmeover, was a totally different ride systen. It used tires embedded in the track, not linear induction.

@@texasguysanantonio8295 True. I had forgtten that difference, but Disney still goofed by getting rid of it (IMHO)!!

Former VIP Tour Guide at WDW in FL, can confirm. WED Enterprises, (WED standing for Walter Elias Disney) a wholly owned subsidiary of the Walt Disney Company was responsible for this.

Coming from someone who lives near Bush IAH and travels from there often, not a lot a people use the people mover at the airport. For one, it’s underneath the airport and two, it really only goes from terminal to terminal. I believe it is connected to a hotel so I hotel guest can take advantage of getting to their correct terminal fast, but other than that people are either parking or getting dropped off at their desired terminal. There’s really no need to travel between terminals once you’re at your terminal for your flight. Still, I never knew this fact and will think of it if I ever visit the mover again.

the track is deteriated and rusted up bad and the structure is deteriating, they need to take down the old structure and build the newer structure for the newer people mover otherwise the structure that is 80 years old its can collap if theres a earthquake.

They also got a second customer which was the capital in Washington DC who needed a new transit system for a new Capital subway line or needed to replace an older aging transit line’s track and vehicle system.

Are you referring to those two mini "subway" lines that run between the Capitol Building and other government buildings that only members of Congress use? I know one line uses a different system and has a human driver. The other line is automated and appears to use the same linear induction motor tech but I'm not entirely sure if WED Enterprises actually built it or it was another company.

      @
Yup! The automated one was rebuilt around the same time the Bush airport system was built and does seem to use the exact same vehicles as in the Bush system with only a few cosmetic differences so it was seemingly also built by Disney! :)

Houston has joints that pertain to NASA. Tomorrowland is a park division with attractions that pertain to outer space. As close as it gets to Disney-related things in Houston is what's existent in Tomorrowland. Not exclusively the indoor monorail.
