There's a way to legitimately use Audiophile Tier Headphones on Xbox Series/Xbox One. And this has gone unnoticed for years. You need the Turtle Beach Stream Mic. This is the only fully compatible Desktop Mic for Xbox One(and Series thanks to forward compatibly). If you connect a amp, like The xDuoo XD-05 Basic(Set to AUX mode) for example, to the headphone aux port in the mic; You can use any headphones in the 300 ohms range(IE: DT990 pros or the Sennheiser HD600) on Xbox with no problem Nothing connected to your controller since this is all USB powered. But you may need a USB hub just in case. Please Note: Finding a TB Stream Mic cheap is NOT easy right now
@@alexp7824 for the headphones, yes, since the headphone I mentioned requires more power to run. If you want to do the same thing as me, the XD-O5 Basic is very straightforward to set up

I have a major problem with this solution. The problem is that the audio extractor is not to spec with HDMI 2.1. It is not capable of utilizing the 120hrtz frame rates. Im sure eventually someone will make a 2.1 hdmi audio extractor but even then, you will lose the adaptive frame rates due to the processing involved with extracting the audio. All of the extra performance that the new Xbox is capable of must be sacrificed for good audio. Them not having an optical port is extremely frustrating. I understand maybe the series S not having one but the flag ship series X should. I appreciate that there are people like you that also care about good sound. Thanks for posting this video.
Believe me, I continue every day to look for one hdmi with 2.1. When I finally find one I will be sure to let everyone know and review it. But I can say that the audio staying rich and full can really make the issue of not having 120hrtz an after thought for now. Also sadly there are not that many game that will reach 120. The gaming console make will need a year to catch up with the tech.
You don't need hdmi 2.1 for 120hz. Hdmi 2.0 is capable of 120hz @1440p. Finding a company that sell a hdmi 2.0 audio Extractor that supports 1440p is the problem
This is a must video, specifically for xbox series x/s users because most people are using the optical cable for audio and not hdmi. This video should be a big hit. I almost started researching a replacement for my 5.1 logitech z906 which sound great but has optical and not hdmi. My only question is how good is the sound quality for 5.1 audio systems as opposed to a headset that you used. You may want to update this video demonstrating a full speaker setup with it.

There are xbox headsets like that cloud flight that connects with a USB dongle, so there is USB audio but probably they are using a proprietary codec. Great video. You can’t use 120hz displays and gameplay using an extractor? Which then takes away the whole idea of having a series X surely? We shouldn’t have to just be satisfied with being limited to 60hz by using a adapter? Is this true? Thanks

I truly wish I could answer your question with confidence. The logic is sound but I do believe the device is only capable of 60 hrtz regardless. I am currently using a 1080p monitor with 120 hrtz but I am only getting 1080p 60 hrtz from the devise. I am looking every where for one that can reach 120 hrtz while still offering the optical cable option. I ll be sure to let you know if I find something.
Not to be mean, cause I respect the hustle, but your audio needs work, homie. Your mouth noises are way worse than they should be because of something you're doing with FX - I'd suggest revisiting your EQ. It sounded pretty good when you were going over the first DAC, for reference. You might just need a high pass filter to get rid of some of the white noise, but you'd be set after that. Other than that - fantastic video, my man. 🤘
Will a setup like this help with audio lag? Since I got the Xbox x and a Sony x900h with the st500 sound bar when I play anything through the Xbox on the sound bar horrible audio lag... even watching Netflix.

2024 How to fix the hi fi audio quality for series x /ps5 1. Buy a Dac (like topping e70) 2. Buy a amplifier (topping l70) 3. Now you can go 2 ways , A , OPTICAL audio out of your TV/ monitor B. 3.5 MM output of your tv /monitor and you have to buy a 3.5mm to 2x Rca cable (left .right , Y cable ) 5. Connect optical audio from TV to the dac and the dac to the amp Or the 3.5mm to rca cable 6. Plug the headphones in the amp Enjoy ! Optical is better, any TV or almost any has the optical audio output Sad most monitors doesn't have this output, but still they have the 3.5mm jack , so not really the same quality but still very high quality (attention to buy a good quality 3.5mm to rca cable )
I have a question about your solution. I saw that the hdmi extractor can split the video and audio signal to 4k@60Hz, but i think i don`t buy a new TV with 4k and 120Hz, to limit this to 60Hz. Is there any device that can split it with 4k@120Hz?
Sadly there is currently nothing on the market that provide the optical option and support 120hz. I look every day and hopefully soon I will find something. Believe me Ill let everyone know and post a video about the devise. Every company is trying to catch up to the HDMI 2.1 tech.
Please help. When i plugged my headphones to my controller i had to change in setting for voice in headphones but when I disconnect them i have no sound in my speakers and again in the options i have to change the sound to speakers. Is there any way so that the sound switches automatically from speakers to headphones whenever i plug and unplug them ? PlayStation works perfectly fine with such situation...

i planed to get a studio headphones for sound and a stand alone mic to speak and not settle with probably over priced gamingheadphones, but i dont want to buy really expensive 1000$headphones and it turning out be the as effective as a 400$ headphones cause the series x isnt really that advanced, so im stuck trying to make the best decision without knowing what to do or where to start.
Your video gave me a rough idea of what i should do for better quality but im still a bit timid on trying this out without asking first, what do you recommend for me to do to get the best for the series x in term of audio?
Thanks for commenting, sure give me a day and come back with a few ideas
If you could do it. I would go with the mmx300 or custom one pros for headset choices and get the arc mk ii for the dac using the optical input.
@@GadgetFox i looked into it and can definitely can afford it but just one more question. Does the arc mkii support a standalone mic and headphone if i ever want then separate for the future?
@@forepicblade yes, mic is a side from the headphone jack and will provide a cleaner sound because its grounded.
@@GadgetFox hey i got everything you recommended and pluged it in and it sounds great but i cant speak so thats a big bummer ,but i what i did is literally put on two headsets one for the sounds the other is the mic. Thats my solution for now.
What mic do you use in party chats on series x? Can you use a studio quality mic with the series x and that setup given there's no support for usb mics?
If you could do it. I would go with the mmx300 or custom one pros for headset choices and get the arc mark ii for the dac using optical output.
@@GadgetFox I wanted to buy the mmx 330. Will it work if I extracted the audio from eARC or another audio out port from the TV to a dac? Will Dolby Atmos work?
I wish we didn’t have to jump through these hoops for good audio on Series. Does the hdmi splitter add latency? I assume it would
Yes my friend
@@GadgetFox Xbox Series X once again plays Audio CD's. Simply insert your audio CD and a prompt appears asking to install Windows Media Player. It installs in a few seconds. Follow the left task bar until you see the CD icon. Press it and your CD will start playing. It includes the artist/album name, titles, date recorded, category of music style and sounds very good! ENJOY!!!!!! Please share!!!!!!!!!!
When you showed the dacs and wanted to connect through usb i already knew nothin would work. Homestly its beyond me why they didnt include optical out.. so lame.
Using this method, do you get spatial audio or just plain stereo?
Just stereo
Could I use the optical out on my television to solve the same problem? HDMI goes from Xbox to tv, then optical out to dac?
You sure can 😀😀👍
Thats what I did. Thats what its there for. You dont need buy anything if your tv has an optical out port
Astro A40 , is the good option
Hi, I’m back. Another day another search for a solution lol So I’ve been thinking what about from my monitor analog to digital converter optical out to mixamp? With this be a way to still get Dolby Digital?
Hmmm, give me a few days. I believe I have a friend that has a monitor capable of that. I will pay him a visit and see if it works.
@@GadgetFox thank you!
Everyone hates these extractors because you can't get 4K 120hz while using it but honestly it's not true 4K to begin with 🤦🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️
Can you still do 1440p @120 hrtz with that pass through cause that’s the highest you can run on hdmi 2.0 ? Is the option still available when using it ?
I truly wish I could answer your question with confidence. The logic is sound but I do believe the device is only capable of 60 hrtz regardless. I am currently using a 1080p monitor with 120 hrtz but I am only getting 1080p 60 hrtz from the devise. I am looking every where for one that can reach 120 hrtz while still offering the optical cable option. I ll be sure to let you know if I find something.
@@GadgetFox Thank You
maybe this works for series x too: blog.astrogaming.com/2020/10/astro-hdmi-audio-adapter-for-playstation-5/
FYI: THe DS600 headphone out is garbage as it taps off the RCA's, not the same as DX3 Pro.
I really wish I could answer this question for you but sadly I do not own a x900h. I have heard that Sony has been having many other issues with the software of the x900h.
Yah, could it be the fact that the Xbox x run off an hdmi 2.1 and my tv is feeding the sound bar with a standar hdmi?
I bought sound blaster g6 but I only can hear but no chat. As soon as I plugged a boom mic into the controller I don’t hear chat anymore. I went into the settings and chose headset and speakers and still it does the same thing. How do I solve it?
2024 How to fix the hi fi audio quality for series x /ps5
1. Buy a Dac (like topping e70)
2. Buy a amplifier (topping l70)
3. Now you can go 2 ways ,
A , OPTICAL audio out of your TV/ monitor
B. 3.5 MM output of your tv /monitor and you have to buy a 3.5mm to 2x Rca cable (left .right , Y cable )
5. Connect optical audio from TV to the dac and the dac to the amp
Or the 3.5mm to rca cable
6. Plug the headphones in the amp
Enjoy !
Optical is better, any TV or almost any has the optical audio output
Sad most monitors doesn't have this output, but still they have the 3.5mm jack , so not really the same quality but still very high quality (attention to buy a good quality 3.5mm to rca cable )
How can you use a mic with this setup as a mic has to go to an input and that setup in the video goes from the output of the HDMI
How do you hook up a home theater system with optical cable to the new xbox? Xbox 360 and Xbox one have the optical outlet.
The HDMI audio splitter in my video takes in the hdmi from the Xbox and separates the audio. It has a optical output. I placed a link in my video
@@GadgetFox okay, thanks
Woah, I had that same bracelet the one that looks like a cable and it got stuck on my wrist for 2 years before it fell off 😂😂😂😂😂
I have a question about your solution.
I saw that the hdmi extractor can split the video and audio signal to 4k@60Hz, but i think i don`t buy a new TV with 4k and 120Hz, to limit this to 60Hz.
Is there any device that can split it with 4k@120Hz?
And i don`t want to buy a new receiver for x hundred bucks.
PlayStation works perfectly fine with such situation...
yo your losing all your frames wit that
so how are you enjoying the upgrades?
What if you just forwarded the signal from your monitor/tv to your dac?
If your monitor has a that capability, then definitely
that’s still a garbage workaround that sounds like shit
You have the plastic mic with a metal coil in it for a real mic this is epic.
You just need foam your mic is fine lol
Hmmmm, 😊 thanks
I don't know if you're aware but the sound coming from your mic sounds like a weird water effect? I suggest maybe a pop filter and gate. 😂
Will the Sennheiser GSX 1000 work it's a pc amp ?
I believe so
Hi bro
What about mic??I mean voice chat 🤔 I play lot with friends and I need 🎤??
Sadly it will not take in mic input.
How can i put 7.1 SURROUND ON XBOX SERIES S
Can you use a headset with a Mic though? So you can game and talk to your buddies? Good vid man, subbed
thanks for subbing man. Sadly with this set up, you cannot set up a mic with it. I am still trying to think of a set up that would support a mic.
@@GadgetFox It's so frustrating. I've tried many different things. Why they won't allow any external usb DACs at least blows my mind. A simple firmware update is all they need to do
So how do you get your mic to work in party chat then?
I have mine going via my pc .. did use my phone via the xbox app but its not the best .. PC is easier
Easier just to get a decent headset and plug it directly into the 3.5m port .. that way party n chat features will still work .. a hdmi extractor wont greatly improve the audio while also losing you the chat feature which is important to many.
Correct, great info. I hope soon some creates a hdmi extractor that can handle two chat and 120hz.
@@GadgetFox Now an extractor that could handle cha and 2.1 .. that would be useful!
저런 장비 필요없어요, 그냥 들어도 좋은 소리 나와요
Your correct
How does the Microphone work?
Sadly this set up doesn't support a mic. It's pretty much just in support of single player games like Spider man Or Horizon zero dawn. I am work to find a good setup with mic support. Stay tuned and thanks for watching. 👍 👍
using that caps you to only 60hz so you can’t use 120 on games that support it
Yes. Sadly it does but not many games at this time reach 120
what is the mic jack size, new headset is on the way thanks.
Sorry for being late with the response. Its your standard 3.5mm.
@@GadgetFox oh ok thanks!
Any time my friend
@@GadgetFox appreciate it my g
Does game Chat works though? Using the extractor
Sadly No, the extractor doesn't go both ways.
Got Astro a50 and they don’t sound the same since getting the new console it’s frustrating me
Many people a50 users have been saying the same. They really didn't consider us when they designed the new consoles without the optical port. I keep looking for something and if I do, I'll be sure to post it.
Why can't I just plug a Blue Yeti straight into my Series X!?! Come on MS.
I know right. I wish MS would've 😪 kept it like a PC and allow anything with usb to just connect.
Your jeopardizing video quality for audio quality not worth it tbh.
After sometime using this setup. I concur
Please make a new video can I use the microphone
I'll see if I can get my hands on some of those same DACs. Sadly, I sold them a while ago.
I guess this would only apply if you’re using a monitor because most TVs even older ones have optical out. Obviously if you want voice chat this is not the right solution but people are freaking out about Sony and Microsoft removing the optical outs and I just don’t get it. The only thing that bothers me is that Microsoft doesn’t utilize USB chat and audio like the Sony machines.
Audio quality will be poor with the extractor so no reason on investing in such thing. This is a workaround but not an actual good one
I was looking for 120Hz monitor with optical out, but the only option is buying a tv...
The only solution is buying tv with optical out.
Correct, but an expensive solution.
@@GadgetFox why not use headphones out to DAC?
any tv got it
Bro this video was well needed but please next time drinks a lot of liquids because all I heard was your wet mouth through the mic lol
Cool video but it’s completely pointless if your doing all this Its a waste of money who buys a Xbox series x to game in 1080p 60hz, and the audio will be lagged
I almost agree with you. You'll miss out in many of the mentioned features of the new Xbox. If you have gotten a chance to play cyberpunk 2077 you'll see that the features still can't be supported. All new games frame rates are jumping from as low 18 to maybe over 60. Only if you have a monitor or TV that support hdmi 2.1. But have great sound can always override visuals.
So to be able to have good graphics and audio you have to buy that dx3 pro which is £230 what a joke
Audio sucks on game systems, period. Until you can use your expensive head phones from Apple, Samsung or Beats they suck, they can create these amazing systems but they can't figure out how to do Bluetooth head phones?????
I concur, but disagree about Apple, samsung, or beats. The headphones they provide are gimmicks with noise-canceling. Not use some headphones like the B&W PX7s, Sennheiser GSP 602s, or mmx300. Now your talking sound
@@GadgetFox well yeah, in other words you can use what ever you want to use. Not limited
Can you chat also?
Is someone pissing constantly in the other room? Had to bail out 2 mins in on dollar general John taffer… sorry I. Tried
Lol, I left my water fall fountain on in back by accident 🙃. You have great ears my friend lol
This way you lose all video features series x is capable off
Sadly you are correct
Why remove optical port??
I am sure they removed the port to reduce their production cost.
*laughs in AVR* :)
all i can hear when i watch your videos is your lips smacking
I know, it kills me but I have upgraded my audio gear to improve my videos. I believe my future ones are sounding better. I am releasing a new one tonight. Can you tell me how is sounds.
That's cuz he's got all that delicious audio gear. 😅
