    Falling in love with the Dark Blue & Cat Green, and the sled in general.

    How does this compare to ski Doos air ride suspension? Or does this just adjust the front shocks?

    • @jeffsteenbakkers4435
      @jeffsteenbakkers4435 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have limited experience with the Skidoo air ride system but I believe it changes the air pressure in the air spring. The ATAC system does not change the preload on the spring, just the internal valving, through 3 positions soft, medium, and firm. I hope this helps. Its also adjusts shocks front and rear.

    Getting warmer! Let’s get a first burn on the 137” ATAC. Hopefully you rode that one on a closed course in Mexico.

    • @jeffsteenbakkers4435
      @jeffsteenbakkers4435 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This was the only other Catalyst I rode for a First Burn. The 137 works pretty well though, it settles the rear a bit more, but kills a few miles an hour off the top speed.

    looks like you had it pegged on a long stretch. Care to say what the top end speed was?

    Looks good. I hope the new chassis has more top end than the pro cross. My 2017 zr6000rr tops out at 92mph tops on a good day.

      You want more top speed re-gear it, but then you’ll lose bottom end.

      We didn’t do a review like this on the Ms. I don’t really have the talent for deep snow. Lol.

      @@jeffsteenbakkers4435 Haha, yeah I understand.
      I had the chance to test it. It's a great machine, I snowchecked one.
      After discussing with trail guys who tested the catalyst too, the consensus was that the mountai model is the one that benefits the most of the new plateform specs.
      If you ever get to try it in a safe amount of fresh snow, I suggets you give it a go.

    Thanks for the very informative video as always on your real world opinions. Rpms seem to be holding extremely well! Solid 8100? How's the speedo? Do the numbers seem fair speed wise?

    • @jeffsteenbakkers4435
      @jeffsteenbakkers4435 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hard to judge top speed with the elevation of West Yellowstone. Up there it probably took at least 10mph off the top, but it feels close to other 600/650 sleds. Clutching was good with quick backshifts. Definitely looking forward to getting sea level air in one!

  • @jacobfrank6858
    @jacobfrank6858 ปีที่แล้ว

    "Have a good day, don't get stuck or lost".... that really shouldn't be funny, but its funny and good to know you actually ride sleds!... because you obviously get it.

    • @jeffsteenbakkers4435
      @jeffsteenbakkers4435 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      After I said that, I felt kinda bad… I’ve dug a few people out there over the years or pointed riders in the right direction. The two riders I met on the trails were probably going to be OK as long as they can follow a map and stay out of the deep snow backcountry in the area. West Yellowstone is a great place to ride, but unless you are super confident with your skills, going with a guide is the best idea!

    • @jacobfrank6858
      @jacobfrank6858 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jeff Steenbakkers Yeah, I thing I resonated well with the comment because I've been there as well. I went to school in Houghton Michigan and was fortunate enough to ride to class almost there day as long as there was snow. At least twice a week I would help rental groups get turned in then right direction and always felt like a hero walking over to the poor 600 ACE that had skid off the side of the trail and carved it out with ease while to group of 10 renters jaws dropped in awe. It's a great feeling actually to help them out (or anyone for that matter). While they may be renters, they are by definition snowmobiliers too and therefore for part of the family.

    • @jeffsteenbakkers4435
      @jeffsteenbakkers4435 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jacobfrank6858 Ha! Been there done that. You are right if someone is on a sled they are part of the family.
      In West Yellowstone, that has a lot of renters, everyone always makes sure other folks are good before moving on, even if they are just on the side of the trail. This courtesy happens everywhere else too!
      With STV, we are often parked off the side of the trail (looking stuck or broke down) and 99% of the time other riders stop or slow down to make sure everyone is OK. It happens so often I automatically put up a “thumbs up” way before others ride by so they know we are good.
      I think this concern for others speaks to the awesome community of snowmobiling and snowmobilers, just like with motorcycles where there is a wave to oncoming riders. Its one of the reasons why I like sledding so much.
      Ride safe and keep doin what you’re doing Jacob, because you are a hero to someone you help out.

    Fact. .hahah . While watching this I was like . .hmph pretty good vid considering its the cheezy snowtrax guys. Then when I was done I noticed it's being STV and said that's why it was a good vid.

    How fast were u going? Looked like you were pinned most of the time. Good vid 👍

    • @jeffsteenbakkers4435
      @jeffsteenbakkers4435 ปีที่แล้ว

      There was the odd moment of pinnage. Most of the time the speeds were around 45 mph. Much faster and the wind noise gets excessive in the microphone. Plus is hard to estimate top speeds in West Yellowstone. Elevation can get relatively high on the trail system there and it kills power on NA engines.

    Looks like a very nice sled . Seat looks too short to me . I love the 90's gauge from the "Buzz Lightyear " Era . Oh well in time ,maybe they will answer the call of the fat wads paying for this stuff. Great Burn Jeff.
