I really needed this tutorial. Thank you . UPDATE: I followed your tutorial and I just sewed a perfect invisible V neck bias tape for the first time! And I have been sewing for decades. You gained a new subbie.
Massively helpful. And thank you for being so honest about the pitfalls without scaring the bejsus out of me! Just terrific - a real public service to the beginner sewing community! Thanks.
Love this, thank you because doing full facings with interface adds extra time I don't have. And love your matter of fact personality. Very refreshing.
@@BreaknRemake how do you make bias tape? Do you have a video for that? I just found your channel today while looking for a tutorial on b necklines. Thanks for this one. 🙂
you make bias tape by cutting out fabric at 45° angle, that’s the stretchy part of it And then you have to iron it in half or in quarters whatever direction you’re taking a project
I was told there’s no way a beginner can turn a round neck into a v neck. Well using this video I did and I’m happy with the results. Thankyou so much for posting this 🙏
Such a great tutorial! I just finished sewing a v-neck with bias tape for the first time with the help of your video. Came out amazing on a self drafted dress. I love it! Thank you so much :)
Thank you so much, that you teach people to press or iron that seam straight after sewing. So few people do and it bugs the heck out of me. I can spot a non presser a mile away.
In fact, once I figured out the right size bias tape to use, I followed this technique and the neckline came out great without a whole lot of juuuujing. Brilliant!
Thanks for this excellent tutorial - I have several dresses I saved for many years for altering the necklines, which are too high. Would like to turn several into v-necks, and now I know how to do this without worrying about a full-blown matching facing. My first practice "v" was almost perfect thanks to your clear instructions!
Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge...I so appreciate you! I have never used bias tape before and always wanted to learn to make a vneck. It came out perfectly the first time! You made it so easy to do...you are a peach💕 Thanks again😊😊😍😍💕💕
OMG, first video that's been *clear* to me and didn't have a collar attached. Thank you! I was getting frustrated with why it was so difficult to find help with that. I'm a novice seamstress (don't like the word "sewer"), and although I'm getting the hang of most small alterations, v-necks have been puzzling.
Just come across you at the best time. I’m a new sewist and I downloaded the free pattern ‘scout tee’. It was meant to be for beginners but the description of how to sew the neckline in the pattern was very confusing (to me, at least) and also I prefer v necks so it was good to find you with this tutorial. Love your style too. Marie from UK
What a helpful tutorial! It looks like you’re using single fold normal width bias tape, is that correct? I’m doing a project tomorrow and need to know. 😊
So, what is the process for doing the same thing but showing the bias tape on the outside (as a contrast). I'm working on this right now and am trying to do it in reverse-attaching the tape on the wrong side.
hot finger press to y'all ;) loved the explanation (quick and dirty like my teacher always says) - thanks a lot! gonna try it on jersey hope it works there as well :)
worked well btw!! all with strectch stitch and finished with twin needle. just sew over the v part after attaching both sideds bc there appeared a hole..
What a fun tutorial! In this instance would you recommend doing the bias binding on each piece of the bodice before attaching shoulder seams, or have you just done it this way for ease of filming? Cheers
Nice & fun explanation! Wish you had understitched though--after years of skipping that step, realize now how much better the garment looks when done! Also, lovely fabric, but making a bias tape of the same weight & weave would look even better! Store bought tapes are full of sizing & made of low quality material, it can actually ruin an otherwise gorgeous top with different weight or shrinkage rates.... been there, done that! Often only realize it after first wear & wash 😢.
I’ve never used iron on hemming. My best suggestion for you is to make a little sample. Iron a little bit of the hemming on a scrap fabric to see if it changes the hand or looks funky. Let me know how it turns out!
I really needed this tutorial. Thank you .

AAAA! That makes me so happy!

thank you! i actually used this method for a square neckline because the corners were so difficult and this was really helpful
“Trying to wrestle an octopus” that is exactly how I feel attaching bias binding to silk. Never knew how to verbalize it properly, now I know 😂
Bias on silk. *stressed emoji face
Thank goodness for you. Everyone else who has a v neck tutorial has an annoying voice and I could not concentrate. Thank you so much x
Love this, thank you because doing full facings with interface adds extra time I don't have. And love your matter of fact personality. Very refreshing.
You saved my project!!! There’s all kinds of mistakes in the rest of it, but the neckline is PERFECT! THANK YOU!
This is the best tutorial I have ever watched. Seriously! Thank u
Thank you! The camera position was great for a nice close look at the technique for the mitered V neck.
I love your tutorials. And it helps to learn new things and see how you and others do sewing tips.
I love you!!! You have no idea how clear and helpful this was for me! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Great job instructing! Wasn't boring, quick and to the point. Enjoyable! Thanks!
You're the first person to tell me that bias tape has a difference in size of the folds. Thankyou made my sewing much easier x
So many options with bias tape! Have you made your own?

Best video on v neckline. Thanks for NO annoying music.

Totally! My students try to pull fast ones on me but I like those CRISPY SEAMS!
Thank you so much for this tutorial, it's going to help me so much for my V neck sewing projects.
You are so good at explaining! Thank you!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!!!!!
Such a clear tutorial on how to do a V neckline. I’ve been looking for ages and you nailed it! 🥰🌺
Thank you SO MUCH!! You made this so easy to understand and follow! Trying to miter has been a pain in the rear!!
Used this today! You are such a fun teacher!
Brilliant - just brilliant 😊😊😊 Thank you 🙏 🙏🙏

AAAA! Yay! I’m so glad you were able to get a beautiful neckline!
Brilliant demo ❤ Well described and shown.
Thank you!!!
Brilliant... thankyou. I never thought of using a bias tape for a v neck.
I love yor energy. Thanks for this. Facings can be SUPER annoying sometimes especially for summer/light weight gaments. Bias binding for the win!

I love that fabric 👍👍👍
Thank you from Australia!! I’m making kaftans for my Mum today and thought I had to keep it to a round neckline when she prefers a V shape. 🇦🇺👍🙌🙌🙌💕
SAME! Get that fabric away from my neck 😆
THANK YOU. I needed this, as I had been struggling with this for a while.

Gooder as you go 😂. Some days just be like that. I need an iron…I have a project from last fall that’s still waiting for press and topstitch finish.
thanks babe!!!!!
What a fun tutorial! In this instance would you recommend doing the bias binding on each piece of the bodice before attaching shoulder seams, or have you just done it this way for ease of filming? Cheers
Attach the shoulder seam for sure! I did it on a scrap of fabric because I didn't have any garments at this stage of construction. Good catch!
I really like, thank you
How wide is this bias tape?
Yes hand stitch tutorials please
Thank you for the video!
you get good - err. I'm in the err phase of that :)

Is facing still necessary when you do things this way, or will this be enough? To me it looks really good as it is. 🙂
You are totally done after the bias tape. Facings always want to fight me so I either fully line the bodice or use bias tape.
@@BreaknRemake cool! Thanks so much. 🙂
You didn't upload in a while , hope all is well 💓
Would it be okay to use iron on hemming on the bias on the inside other than sewing?
I’ve never used iron on hemming. My best suggestion for you is to make a little sample. Iron a little bit of the hemming on a scrap fabric to see if it changes the hand or looks funky. Let me know how it turns out!
@@BreaknRemake I tried it & it worked out great. I did not want to stitch on the inside as it was a fine fabric. I even washed it & it held fine.
