In 2019 while on a solo trip to SF I was attacked by one of those homeless people. They aren't just homeless, they are also drug addicts and mentally deranged. It was traumatizing, the homeless person ran after me, cornered me, and was hovering above like he was going to strike me while yelling profanities at me. He looked like he was demon possessed. A young Starbucks barista was the only one to stand up for me, while the rest of the people ignored the situation. Its like the locals are so desensitized by the problem now that they don't care anymore. I swore that day that I'd get on the plane back home and never return to SF ever again. It's a nightmare. No one warned me, I had no idea how bad it was. Edit: And when I got home and told people about what happened to me, not many people believed me because all they remember is how great SF was, and how it's still considered a very famous and sought after travel destination. As a native San Franciscan resident, it’s true that the main city area and downtown are quite depressing and filled with crowds of homeless people and drugs, still though there are many parts worth visiting. It does though ruin my whole day whenever driving through the area and seeing all this disaster. It still doesn’t take away the beauty of some parents such as the Golden Gate Park, Union square, pier 39, the neighborhood districts and a lot of other parts.
Chicago is gonna become like that as well. Downtown Chicago we have a lot of homelessness and illegal aliens coming from Venezuela and living in the hotels with my taxpaying dollars.

When the tax base flees, the decay accelerates exponentially, and so does the exodus. Eventually, there are left only those who depend on government services, but the government has no money to offer the most basic services: police, fire, emergency medical, water, sewer, streets, and education. Many cities are facing this, and the politicians seem to willfully make it worse.

Please head our warnings, it's not what it used to be.

As a native San Franciscan resident, it’s true that the main city area and downtown are quite depressing and filled with crowds of homeless people and drugs, still though there are many parts worth visiting. Wow honey, you just found any city with a population of more then 500,000! This is reality, not a fucking fairytale.
San Francisco is the best city in the world in my opinion. I was there six months ago and loved it, and was so disappointed in the dishonesty in American media and how fast false information can spread if it generates clicks. I highly recommend San Francisco to anybody.
Just for comparision , singapore , which is a tiny island city state , has over 5 million people ,and its one of the cleanest places in asia and the world , so no , its not about population .
@@antoniocarlosoliveira9146 I loved living in SIngapore, but it is totalitarian authoritarian state. Now, most people there like it because it provides stability, but it can be boring. We used to joke that Singapore is a nice place to live, but I wouldn't want to visit.

Actually, since covid most major cities are experiencing high commercial vacancies especially in their downtown cores. Toronto is dealing w the same thing. It’s caused by hybrid and remote work, not homelessness.
As a person who lived in San Francisco when I was like 7-9, (I know live like 15 mins from sf) There are plenty of wonderful SAFE neighborhoods and beautiful schools. i was born in san fransisco, i visit every two weeks and people like this give it a bad rep. yes theres a TON of homelesness/abandonment in the city but dependent on what parts you visit, most of the nicer parts of the city is more workly/lively only because the huge buisnesses want to keep the perfect image that they have while others struggle in low income. also because of the city being a huge problem of people abandoning it because of prices of housing out there too.

What are you talking about
Absolutely agree. The liberals that voted for all of the laws, taxes, and leftist politicians that caused that massive decline are now moving to other parts of the US, and they are still voting like liberals for the same failed laws, taxes, and lifestyles. So many of them have moved to Colorado that it is now a solidly red state with taxes climbing at an astronomical rate, homeless living on the streets everywhere: urine, feces, needles everywhere. Such a shame. I had wanted to go visit and put it off and now have zero desire to go. As a Texan, my fear is that the people escaping will bring the same mentality here and repeat the problem. It is already starting to show up in DFW, Houston, San Antonio and other major cities. Austin was already a lost child, but it has exploded there as well. People need to wake up and realize compassion is not caving to bad behavior and leadership.

It's a world class city. Millions of people come here every year, from all over the world, to see our beautiful architecture and museums and institutions, and experience the great weather and natural beauty.
Surely you jest
Poverty and welfare use are directly linked to quality of schools. California has highest national drop out rate (~13%) and largest national class sizes K-12. Even Mississippi is better. CA has 40% of US homeless. to deal with state deficit, Newsome says they will cut school spending. So there will be more trailers, even larger class size, no summer school. In LAUSD less than 40% 9th graders can pass basic match, 50% English. one party, veto-proof legislature.
Weird, I was just there and it actually seemed better than when I was living there 15+ years ago. Yes, much of downtown office space is vacant but that is the issue with lots of cities where working from home has gutted the commercial market. Granted, I never go into the Tenderloin or Hunters Point, but I never went there before. Yes, they have always been sh*t-holes. I must say, if it really is so horrible, why haven't home prices dropped or even stopped rising? It's like that restaurant nobody every eats at because it always is too crowded.
