Fascinating insights...I first heard the album on my Birthday in 1979 in a sixteenth century cottage in a little village in Hampshire (England), it completely blew me away..I was heavily into British post punk...Joy Division, Elvis Costello, Siouxsie and the Banshees etc...and there was this glorious sound that came from the West Coast, but seemed, to me, to have an almost British sensiblilty. I still have my vinyl copy 45 yrs later and although it's a bit worn..it still gets thrown on the turntable from time to time and still is a thrilling ride. Thanks for having Marty on to talk about it.
Outstanding! I was amused because I used Nelson Riddles Route 66 as an opener for my long-gone Cable Access TV show.
I love this record. I listen to it often. I didn't know, that the photographer also shot the cover for the first Cars record, another of the best ever debuts.
Awesome interview. I would love to hear more stories from the first tour.
I cannot believe I just realized you have a TH-cam channel. I was so excited. I'm starting to feel like a stalker. LOL.
Oh, the thrill of discovery is sweet, innit?
Good album Total Control should have been a hit
Route 66?
Yes, we talk about it.
