Can't you understand that they chose Nick because of the shape of her face? Literally, the only thing that gives away that she is black is her curly hair. Other than that, nothing that straightening, dyeing your hair, blue lenses and makeup can't solve. If it were to be DEI, they would keep the actress with her originally curly hair.
Unfortunately every film has to have diversity now... even if it's not accurate to the source material at all. At least 1 main character has to be changed to a non white race in every movie it seems... 😅
@myown2730 If you bothered to Google her ethnicity, you'll see her mother is literally black. And she has thick, corse hair like black people. White people aren't born with hair like that unless they're mixed raced to some extent.
Omg ....so last I checked Astrid is White with blonde hair. There's no reason why this shouldn't be happening. It's the same thing with Ariel from The Little mermaid, why can't you just stick to what the original character look like?
I am cautiously optimistic, but the cartoon characters are such loud personalities that I remain worried. I am surprised by some of the cast choices. At 2:02 you see the whole team of dragon riders - Ruffnut looks overweight and NOTHING like Tuffnut, Snotlout looks wimpier than Hiccup, and Astrid's wig is really disappointing - I'm hoping that they do her intro-scene properly as she is supposed to be drop-dead-gorgeous to Hiccup's eyes. All that typed, it could, possibly, turn out alright, I just can't think of any live-action adaptations that have been even close to doing justice to the original animated version other than, maybe, parts of the series Superman & Lois and certain scenes from the Zack Snyder versions of Batman and Superman. Obviously, just my opinion.

@@geminfly so what youre saying is it's alright for a white person born inside africa to play black panther. be for real
@@beetrootlife just say you hate people of color and call it a day dude LOL
@@beetrootlifeit’s even funnier when white people have always played roles where the original character was a non white person. You just don’t care 😂
She was blonde. It's all what i say.
0:45 the sountrack gave me instant chills and an instant smile
Omg ....so last I checked Astrid is White with blonde hair. There's no reason why this shouldn't be happening. It's the same thing with Ariel from The Little mermaid, why can't you just stick to what the original character look like?
You have to understand that gingers and blondes aren't welcome in Hollyweird.
Ngl I can’t even tell which one is Ruffnut and which is Snotlout…
"drop-dead-gorgeous"... im sure they will play rap music as she walks in.
I can't tell which one's Toothless and which is Astrid
Astrid is canon blonde. The film adaptation has already disappointed me.
Because DEI
@auhsojjoshua0 no.. because costume department dropped the ball😅
Same!
Same. The role should have gone to a White actress. Same with Ruffnut. She got replaced by a blob.
@ wait fr? Ruffnut? Bruh! This movie is going to flop
No Astrid. Oh.
