I have this Knife, great knife with only minor problems. My hands are fairly average, I wear a size L glove and I find the finger groves are not well spaced for my hands and the coating the manufacturer put on the handle is slippery when wet. I took some fine sandpaper and sanded off the coating then a fine file and rounded off the finger grooves to where the handle felt better in my hand. I then soaked the handle in warm water for about five minutes then let air dry overnight. The handle now fits my hand better and has a grip that’s not as slippery and gets even better if the handle gets wet. The military realized that a compressed leather grip gets better when wet and that’s why they used them on their standard issue knives in and after WW2. Overall this is a very good knife at a fair price. The minor work that I did on the handle was to make it better for me.

Thank you for not breaking it into pieces against a rock or bricks like some people do on TH-cam. Testing it is far better than destroying it and then labeling it "FAILURE!" just to get viewers. We need more videos like this.

JOE X is worth watching for his great humour. And he also shows in what manner the knives finally fail when abused.

Great video! Not only was it a solid review of what this knife is capable of (being used in a realistic manner no less) but it was also quite informative as to what you can do in a survival situation and how to sharpen the knife. Thank you sir!

of course I was talking about blade lenght... 9 to 12" lenght, well balanced, not too heavy and sharp clip point for back cut use.

Hello, it's been 7 months since you posted this video. So far you're the only one who has posted a real life video demonstrating the use of this knife that I have found. What is your opinion of it now? Is it suitable for use as a primary bushcraft knife? What all have you been able to do with it? Many thanks for posting your video.

What knife? I skimmed through this video and all I saw was what looks to be Salomon geriatric Velcro look a like shoes and “wolverines” knees. Jam up camera work! Mostly just a video of his fire making skills.. if I should be impressed by your five minute fire in a semi wet-windless environment with dry tinder, you are mistaken. And I’ll minus two points for a fire steel. If your going to pack a brick of a knife like that, I will give you accolades, because style and nostalgia count! But good god Francis carry a bic save yourself some weight and an awful joke of TH-cam bushcrafter persona. Furthermore I’ve never fabbed up a spear with a stick and a high dollar Sog.... but why wouldn’t you notch the stick linearly at the end to establish a shelf for the butt of that super sog, for maximum stabby power? Anywho I’m confused at the point of this video.. Is it knife review or a half assed back yard survival show? Alas I regress. I went to Amazon and bought the knife... Thanks.. I guess

@@CDA43 Obviously "survival" implies surviving outdoors against nature, not combat. No this is not designed as a survival knife. That doesn't mean it would be bad at it though. Just not the best tool for that job. It's designed and more suited for killing.

Why buy "Fire Starters" when you fan make your own. I use 12 gauge shot gun cleaning patches and dip them in wax, works really well. Or cotton balls soaked in Vaseline. Simple and works. As for your knife. Okay, it works, but so would my USMC Kabar, or my Buck 119 Special. Or even my Buck 110 folding hunter. Any knife for that matter, as long as it is sharp, is a survival knife.
