Dude keep up the great work with making your preventative maintenance descriptive services videos. You describe things very clearly and easily. I've discovered two different custom made tools from your video that helped me tremendously... It's like I'm right there in the shop wrenching with ya buddy. Thank you!
Thanks! It’s the same as the removal. You just need to press down on the pvc tool to get the spring compressed enough to get the nut on. Once you do the initial alignment of the helix, it drops right in.
How do you know when the rollers need to be replaced? Is there a certain mileage the rollers should be replaced at? Awesome video by the way. I was wondering where the thrust bearing was installed. Some kits use a washer on both sides of the thrust bearing. What are your thoughts on that? I assume you installed the delrin washer in the roller assembly, I couldn't see that specifically in the video.
Typically I’ll replace them every 2000 miles. For the Delrin washer I put it in the bottom on the top of the spring since there’s already the roller bearing on the r bottom of the spring cup. Usually one washer is fine. You have to be aware of the height of the assembly stack. If you add too much, it will have an adverse effect on the working spring pressure.
It’s about 9” tall. It can actually be as tall as you want. You’ll just need to have the threaded rod about 4” longer to take in for the total spring length.
Excellent video as always Tom, would a team secondary off an 04 super sport 550 be the same clutch, different calibration obviously? Just wanted to use this a a guide to rebuild one.
Hello! Thanks for the video, quick question: do you have a spring setup for the primary and secondary clutch of my Switchback Aventure 2012 600. Either in the EPI or others.
I have a 2010 skidoo 800 with a Team Tied secondary that was bought in 2012. It looks basically identical to the one in this video. Are the inner and outer replacement rollers sold nowadays the same? I see some websites listing them as inner only and then some say can be used on both?
Good video - Question: why didn't you also use another washer over top of the needle nose bearings instead applying the spring retain directing over top?
Glad you liked it. The clutch kit was purchased from NorthStar Performance in NH. It’s their Stage 2 clutch kit. Different helix, secondary and primary springs and different weights. Best bet is too contact them through FB.
@@StreetersGarage everybody seems to like his kits. I'll have to remember to check back and see what you think of it. I need some studs then clutches. My 1.35 just spins so I don't think more power is gonna help till I get some meat on the track
@@bc9912 I like the clutching on it. It’s pretty much spot on. I’m running a 1.625 Ice Cobra with the screw in studs in the paddles. I’d rather have a studded track but that’s how it was setup when I got it.
Great video. Im a polaris guy with a iq 700 body extended tunnel to 144 and put a real 600 liberty in it but me steering is sloppy n looses can ypu do a video of 2006 to 2010 rmk or Iq steering
Hey Matt. You should have the older Button Type Secondary. Couple of ways to get the belt off. 1. Grab the belt and roll it off the secondary as you rotate the belt off. Helps to have the rear of the sled elevated. 2. Grab the sheaves and rotate them to engage the helix and open the secondary to loosen up the belt.

Thanks! Anything I can do to help out with saving money and keeping you out of the dealership. 🤣🤣🤣
Awesome video! 900 miles on 22 VR1 and my secondary is binding already. Thanks for the links too! Great channel...
Awesome. Glad you liked it and hopefully this helps to fix it.
I just upgraded mine with the roller bearing. Thank you the Amazon links!!
You’re welcome and Merry Christmas!
Hi. Do you have the amazon link?
Excellent description. I would have liked to see you compress that spring though.

Nice tutorial Tom! I may do the same on my Dragon, so great information and how-to.
Thanks Ken. The Dragon used the same clutch. This will be the same process.
All the videos on the secondary were pretty bad. Hope this helps.
Great video! Got mine apart I didn’t have any of the washers in mine. are some clutches like that? On a 2016 800cc RMK
Those are optional
Great tutorial bud, thansk 👊
You’re welcome!

Will this part list apply to a 2003 pro x 600? Great video and amazing channel!
Thanks!
Yes for the most part. The secondary in the ProX is a very similar design. I also have another video on the P2 as well which is similar.
@StreetersGarage Thank you! Ordering the parts now.
Was the spring cup re used or a new one purchased ?
@@jessedonovan757 used the same one.
@@StreetersGarage ty once again!
I wonder if I could get your measurements for your PVC Pipe and cap you made the compressor tool from

3" pipe and a cap and 1/2 threaded rod ?@@StreetersGarage
@terrymunn1224 4” pipe and cap

2 different style of clutches.
Hello! Thanks for the video, quick question: do you have a spring setup for the primary and secondary clutch of my Switchback Aventure 2012 600. Either in the EPI or others.
I haven’t done anything with the Adventure. EPI is a good resource as well as NorthStar Performance in NH to give you some ideas.
@@StreetersGarage OK! THANKS. I'm thinking of taking EPI, but it's not easy to choose the right springs. Good evening !

Depends on the year of the clutch. On the newer ones (Past 5 Years) they changed the width of the roller. Not sure if they’re interchangeable though.
Good video - Question: why didn't you also use another washer over top of the needle nose bearings instead applying the spring retain directing over top?
Stack buildup.
Thanks bud. Which clutch kit did you go with and are you going to do a video of your primary?

Can you send a parts list of your homemade Spring Compressor tool. Thanks great videos

No problem. The 2nd nut is inserted into your block of wood of choice.

Thanks for watching. I currently don’t have that sled in my inventory. The next time one comes in. I’ll do it.
Hey I have the same secondary on my rmk 700 2002 I couldn't open the secondary to get the belt off is that normal how do I open it up to change belts

What parts did you use for that pvc tool?
4”
3/8-16 threaded rod.
You Don’t need all the delrin washers that you used. You have caused a lot more pre load on the spring.
Ok
I have a 98 polaris xcr what would be the Rpm of this unit when the clutch kicks in
The 98 didn’t use this type of secondary.
I just finished putting the secondary. Unfortunately the middle groove is not even. Help? Lol
Middle Groove?
Hmmm just incase! I can emagine working in the cold is aweful! I try to heat less, depends on the time and whats out there! 6 I don't think so!
