- The Virginia Tech Hokies downed the Virginia Cavaliers in the rivalry matchup, 29-24. Hokies quarterback Braxton Burmeister threw a touchdown pass, caught a touchdown pass and rushed for 115 yards in the win. Running back Raheem Blackshear rushed for 169 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. Virginia quarterback threw for 400 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 2 touchdowns in the loss.

QB’s like Burmeister and Michael Brewer will not go down in Hokie history as greats, but I will always give them credit for being tough and for being fighters. Respect 🦃

100% Burmeister has just been a dog this whole season fighting through injury. Then there is Ryan Willis who would get destroyed every game and keep going he was just a maniac lol. Always respect for them.

I've seen people on Twitter claim that VT did not deserve to win this game. Those people are idiots. They held one of the most potent passing offenses in the ACC to just 3 points in the second half.
VT absolutely deserved this win.

@@stormz1243 : Something's wrong. This was the first time since the early 90s that UVA clearly had more on field talent and better coaching but still lost. There is no reason that UVA shuold not only have won this game but blown VT out.
@@50farmers agreed but they're in their own heads. WIcks dropped 4 passes, including a touchdown. Rare Thompson fumble. Armstrong staring down receivers. Soft football team and a soft fanbase. Until they commit creating a winning program, UVA will continue to have outcomes like this.

I would actually agree about it is not a true rivalry. To be a great rivalry both programs need to be on a similar level and VT clearly puts 1000% more effort into their football program. Uva isn't a football school and really has No plans to be one. Most Uva fans get that but some still haven't and they are the ones who take these loses pretty hard. The others like myself want to beat VT but don't lose any sleep over it if we don't.

Absolutely brilliant game to watch live. Hokies pre-game = 3.2x underdogs, I put down like 35 bucks to get 111 or so; right before the twirling princess fumble I had a cash-out now button of 80 dollars. Didn't click it and didn't think the defense would fold the entire time. Great job.

I don't know how UVA manages to be just a little worse then Virginia Tech, every year, for 20 years. I think you should have to win 8 games for a bowl but I guess were going bowling again with 6.
Honestly I hope UVa chooses to send a message to it's coaching staff and stay home as a team decision. I'm done with Bronco, the entire coaching staff needs the boot.
@@brucecampbell4528 Sounds like you might be the one who needs the boot. Go be a VT fan or Alabama fan if you expect to win all the time. Uva is not a football school and never will be because to be one you have to go low with your standards which might provide success and it might not as VT is experiencing. The Uva players understand that and if like you expected to win 8 games a year would have gone elsewhere if they were good enough which most would not have been.
@@markp.7165 A couple of things, do not question my fan hood. Regardless of academic standards, there is no substitution for winning. It does not matter, coaches coach and Bronco is a terrible coach. I will not stop being a UVa fan, but if Notre Dame, Standford and Wake can win twelve to ten games a year, no reason UVa can not. Maybe it's time for you to get real about your fan hood.

@@markp.7165 hahaha please don’t pretend that UVA football players have the same SAT / GPA scores as other UVA students. UVA recruits the same lunkheads as other schools - those five-star recruits simply choose to play elsewhere. The burden is on you to prove that’s not the case. Do UVA football players have average ACT scores of 33? If not, just how low is acceptable? UVA is not refusing to offer a five-star recruit because he scores a 24 rather than 25 on the ACT. Look at UVA’s recruiting page - they send scholarships to the same kids as other big schools.
Michigan, UNC, Texas, UGA, UF, ND, etc. all have roughly the same SAT / ACT scores as UVA. What’s your excuse?

VT is The Football School in Virginia but there is a good chance in the next ten or so years JMU might just give them a run for their money for that title. Time will tell.

There should've been a targeting penalty on the safety. 85 for UVA struck Tisdale helmet-to-helmet, preventing him from recovering the football.
I said the same thing when watching these highlights, didn't catch it the first time.
Great job Tech beating the Cavs and the refs. That was a horrible job by the officiating crew.

Fire Bronco, fire the entire staff. Skip the bowl and restart, this year was a complete waste of talent.
Even as a Hokie fan, Bronco has helped UVA's program in my opinion. Maybe just a new DC
