This theme is a perfect contrast to the original Rex's Lair theme. Back then Metal Gear Rex was a terrifying weapon about to be unleashed on the world. All you could do was gaze at it and hope you would never have to fight it. Whereas by the time of MGS4 the beast has long since lain dormant and you are looking forward to reviving it once again; this time as a valuable ally.

MG2 Solid Snake was before MGS1, Snake retired after the Zanzibar Land Incident, He was under the command of Colonel Campbell of FoxHound during the Zanzibar Land Incident. That games is really good. you should try it if you haven't.
