Bittersweet to leave Disney behind for a while, but we had such a blast making this project! Hope you all enjoy TBG's latest, and being back to business as usual with green screen epicness!
So funny thing about the Latin, I just wanted to have a section that felt big and ominous, and evocative of the town’s perception of Bruno as a sinister and almost demonic figure in the community… the choral Latin was supposed to be like the town’s condemnation of Bruno and his dark power. “Noli cogitare hominem hodie” roughly translates to “don’t think of the man” and “viri nomen irae” roughly means “the man’s name is wrath”… my lil Hellfire moment lol
Big props to Ryan for the video because it looks very polished and professional. The way he did a sort of shadow behind each of you to make you guys pop from the background and each other looks great! I do like the blur on the background parts because it puts more emphasis on the solo. I think this level of blur is good, you can still see everyone’s faces and expressions. Also shout out to Mason for being an excellent editor!
I wonder how Tomi's conversation with his girlfriend (I think the dress is hers) went like? Tomi: "can I barrow your dress?" Gf: "why?" and here we are
Thank you Mason for not letting Peter spoil the next Bass Gang release. Peter, I personally thought the blurred backgrounds were a nice touch, because it keeps you guys in the forefront of focus, but the odd in-focus one wouldn't have gone amiss. Like in Tomi's solo bit after the cameos, you guys bring blurred would have worked a bit better if the burry versions were a bit smaller and further back (like the Marwans being lower than you and Bobby, who would be lower than Tomi), so Tomi could be on a pedestal like Isabella was in the movie. That could have been a cool parallel to draw
That was fun! And I really love it and appreciate HOW Tomi wore the dress and how his charisma matched it. It's brave and I'm so glad to see that most people found it positive these days instead of writing *phobe-whatever' comments. For me, this increased his masculinity. I love seeing love, friends hugging, kissing or even proposing to friends and I don't care simple conservative people think about it. For me that is a sign of freedom, cause there are countries you would go to jail for this. Be whatever makes you happy! ❤️🧡💛💚💙
This is definitely my favorite bass gang release, I have just been obsessed with it since it came out. Everything about it is amazing, I just love it so much. I think that you guys being blurred in the background in parts of the video looks great, it puts a great focus on the current soloist. Thank you for the amazing R&A as always Peter, you are amazing❤
Wonderful work! Love the arrangement. I'm definitely a fangirl! 😍 Flat-plane perspective and photography have been a huge part of my life and career, so I was possibly overly sensitive to the scale relationships. The blurring was good; the video was delightful! Good job, Ryan!
All the credit going to Ryan for this video is well-deserved. This song is amazing, and the Bass Gang is amazing. I can't wait for the next song out of the group, and I'm looking forward to more musical insight from you. The blurred backgrounds are great when they make sense, other times you wish they remembered to adjust the focus.
I absolutely loved this cover of “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”! I have listened to The Bass Gang’s version of this song about a hundred times already! I just can’t get it out of my head! I really love how you all switched up Camilo’s verse! Rather than saying, “rats along his back,” you all said, “itty bitty rats along his back.” And instead of saying, “it all fades to black,” you all said, “everything around you fades to black.” That was so creative! Also, until you pointed it out, I never even noticed what the background vocals were saying at the build-up of the song, where Marwan is saying, “Um … Bruno. Yeah, about that Bruno. I really need to know about Bruno. Give me the truth and the whole truth, Bruno!” It's so cool that as he’s saying his line, the background vocals are saying, “No, no … we don’t talk about Bruno” repeatedly with a different harmony coming in each time! That is some incredible arrangement! As far as the blurry background goes, it did not bother me at all, especially toward the end, when Marwan a.k.a. Bruno was trying to slip away unnoticed while the three of you were singing, “It’s like I hear him now.” That was very creative! We are so thrilled the virtual Bass Gang is back and better than ever! We can't wait to see what future projects you all have in store for us! Until then, May The Bass Be With Us All!
Always great to hear the behind-the-scenes stuff from you. About the blurred background vocalists, I personally prefer to see any singers clearly. I think the video showing the BV singers farther back is enough to show who is the center of attention. Of course, that's just one opinion.
This was such a ridiculously fantastic version of the song! You all did so delightfully and damn - hat's off to your editor -- everything about this was 'Chef's kiss' awesome!
I really like the blurred backgrounds because it makes it easier for the viewer to identify who's on lead. With some of Marwan's insane creations, it can get hard to identify who's singing what parts because there is so much going on. Also, if everyone is in-focus on breakdowns or sections where you are all going nuts, the extra bit of visual chaos makes it a bit more impactful.
Congratulations on another outstanding production. You all have come so far as a group and I can't wait to see what the future holds for you, nothing short of amazing I am sure! As far as the background blur, I agree with many of the comments that it highlights the lead. Personally I think that some spots where the blur did not work was when there really wasn't a clear lead vocal as I like watching to see if I can match up who's doing what vocally in the video. I understand that not everything can be shown, but it's fun nevertheless. Thank you for your analysis and insight!
Thanks for all the insights! And as much as I admire Jonathan, I loved seeing Brev do this cameo-I really do hope you guys collaborate more with him because you’re right-he’s amazing. Anyway, this whole video was amazing in terms of the singing and the creativity. As for the background, the colors are great, but I was a bit distracted the first couple times through the song trying to figure out what it was. Initially my mind jumped to an auto junkyard, which probably isn’t the vibe you want. LOL. What was it, anyway?? I’m so excited to hear you’re going to put out even more content.
I think the blurry backgrounds are good for short shots like 3-5 seconds but longer than that can be annoying for the watch. Also the blur adds depth to the visuals so cool thing to add. Oh yeah, I love the cover!
This was great! As to your question on the backgrounds, it worked for me because they weren't just blurred but sometimes also distorted and it really makes the video feel more sureal.
great job. Feedback on the backgrounds. I think they work while singing the family's sections. I think it might have had a bit more sectioning off when it was villager (non-family) to have an in focus background. Kind of "here is a villager" call out. To help offset visually in addition to being other singers (so fun). Can tell you all had fun making this. (edited to add the following) For the blur on singers, it works. When everyone is backgroundy they are lightly blurred, but when all singing together (like a family everyone talking all at once) everyone is in focus. It helps to give visual focus to go with the singing focus. neato
The backgrounds fit the song. To me, it doesn't matter that they are blurred, because you guys are the main focus. In fact, I think it would be a bit distracting if the backgrounds were in focus. Also, I love the scene where Tomi throws Marwan a heart and then Marwan just tosses it away 😂
Honestly, I didn't even notice the backgrounds whether clear or blurry. I was completely focused on what YOU GUYS were doing, not the backgrounds. :) ETA: And now that you've clarified you meant the BG performances were blurred....I STILL DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE until you literally drew my attention to it. So take that however you will. :)
This was such a great project from you guys, super high quality stuff!! I loved this arrangement sm, and I think the part assignments were superb, your Dolores part was awesome! Seems like you guys had so much fun making this! Amazing cameos!! I always enjoy watching you react to TBG for the first time, it’s so fun 😄😄 here’s your bell you asked for haha 🔔 can’t wait to see what’s coming down the pipe next from you guys!!
Edit: you've done Floor's Ghost Love Score so nvm on that lol Hey I'd love to see you do Nightwish again. I love your breakdowns. You heard her singing high so you could do something like Yours is an Empty Hope to hear her growl. Or a fan favorite of Ghost Love Score. Or my personal favorite Storytime. All with Floor. I think you can find Tarja doing Ghost Love Score as well as Floor. Tarja was the original singer and extensively operatically trained. And Floor and belt like no one I've seen in a long time
the blurred background can be great as long as its not overdone. i liked it in the Bruno video but there were some parts where it was blurred a little too much. other than that the video was excellent.
Great video! I like the blurred landscape, but a few times I personally think you guys were blurred a bit too much😊. My opinion😊😊. Once again your first reaction is great!!
I wonder what cover would you guys do next... Unfortunately The editor was on a lookout so no spoilers sadly. :( But I am looking forward to it! btw this cover was AMAZING!!!
The blurred background is ok here.. but be careful about overdoing a style or such. I honestly prefer to see you all not blured .. I think in Centuries you did the blurred right with a primary image of you all not blured. but that is my opinion
Momi or Tarwan? I ship it ❤ (not actually I was just joking Btw😅) it just random and funny how you came up with two ship names for Tomi and Marwan accidentally
I must be in the minority because this is so cringe to me and I think it sounds horrible. I'd be so embarrassed if I was friends with someone and they showed me this as a surprise or something.
Hmm -- I'm wondering in what kind of mental place someone has to be in to leave a comment like this. Genuine curiosity. It does reveal how little you know about how a project like this comes together though -- world class audio engineers for the mixing and mastering, a group of people collaborating from all over the world to be together via green screen, writing the actual arrangement for the song, tracking all the vocals, creating the art, etc etc. I do understand that by being outside this world, you likely aren't aware of any of this, but please, treat people with respect, even the ones you don't know.
Bittersweet to leave Disney behind for a while, but we had such a blast making this project! Hope you all enjoy TBG's latest, and being back to business as usual with green screen epicness!
Leaving a bell:🔔for the algorithm. I hope your competition wasn't *too* nerve-wracking.
This was so terrible.
Love having this insight -- it's such a cool section of the song
@@PeterBarber y’all killed it, grateful to have been a part 😩😩😩 and you gotta have like a 4 octave range to be hitting all them notes looool
Big props to Ryan for the video because it looks very polished and professional. I’m a visual learner so I prefer to see everyone clearly. It’s great that all of you have acting abilities!
Thanks for the shoutout man
Thank you Mason for not letting Peter spoil the next Bass Gang release.

Love Tim Foust! He’s perfect for that part! Love the video! Congrats!
Best part of peters Bass gang reviews is how much he laughs
that Tomi run at the end too, nice!

This was such a ridiculously fantastic version of the song! You all did so delightfully and damn - hat's off to your editor -- everything about this was 'Chef's kiss' awesome!
We are loving this piece and the video on repeat. The changes to the arrangement are such a fun variation on a brilliant song.
Pure Bass Gang fun! Love your first time reactions to these. And love all the behind-the-scenes info.

I do adore your occasional honest spoonerisms. I'm so glad I'm not the only one that does that.
I prefer a crisp image of people in the background, I think it looks better in most cases. Love you guys!
I like how you say to never talk about bruno but still mention his name like 50 times in the song
Video looks great, props to Ryan! Awesome job, all of you! I like the blurred background sometimes, but not all the time, just so y'all know.

Of course you're Dolores! I love this ❤
LOVE seeing your first time reactions to The Bass Gang projects, Peter - adorable!

What a great rendition of a very fun song. Love the blurred background effect.
I loved the blurred background in Centuries; I like it less here.
Loved the arrangment. Well done, as always. And great reaction, explanation video!

the blurred back round good sometimes but i like the normal unblurred most of the time
Thank you for sharing this Peter. Very interesting.
Loved it all, including the blurred backgrounds!
The cameos were AMAZING!
It’s interesting how you have your lowest notes in the morning. For me my lowest notes are late late at night
This was such a great project from you guys, super high quality stuff!! I loved this arrangement sm, and I think the part assignments were superb, your Dolores part was awesome! Absolutely love it!
Looks like you had lots of fun doing this one! I loved it! ❤
Well done!
Congratulations on another great cover!
I hadn't even realised that the ones in the back were blurred 🙈😅 So.... didn't bother me 😊
Thank you Mason!! ❤ 😅
I can understand the artsy look of the blur, but I personally prefer no blur. It's definitely not bad though. Great cover!! 😁
Edit: you've done Floor's Ghost Love Score so nvm on that lol

Great video🌮
This was amazing! I loved every minute of it! And…I don’t really like the blurring that much..
I wonder what cover would you guys do next... Unfortunately The editor was on a lookout so no spoilers sadly.

btw this cover was AMAZING!!!
Super fun
