Terrence Howard's misdirected bitterness still after so many years is so petty, and even more assurance that rejecting him in favor of Don Cheadle was the best idea. the movie was called Iron Man, not Iron Man's Friend.
His bitterness is due to vouching for RDJ, getting him the role and getting buttfucked by Marvel and backstabbed in the process. I totally understand why he is still pissed.
@@samueljones3668 yeah, we can all understand WHY he's not happy. but to place most, if not ALL, of the blame on RDJ is misguided. RDJ wasn't the one doling out paychecks. and that he was still airing his grievances about it in front of several different media outlets for years to come shows he never got over it.
I guess his Oscar led him to assume his worth (which isn't entirely unsurprising) but the reality is that Howard hasn't done any significant work since, so I think that he really shot himself in the foot with his public utterances

When I look back at this exact era, the films after Iron Man, leading up to the Avengers, they have a certain quality that the later films simply lack. Call it soul, call it whatever you want, things will never feel like those did.
I completely agree. It could be a lack of direction or trying to please everyone with the newer films, but I just tell myself it's like a good fireworks show. Your first time seeing them will always be the most impressive.
My son was 5 when I took him to his first movie, The Avengers, in 3D. That can't be recreated. Our experience as viewers is essential to our appreciation.
The Avengers is a great action movie. The movie incorporates the grand visuals found in the previous Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and combines them for one spectacle featuring the heroes that we know and love. The movie focuses on the spectacle rather than having a complex narrative focusing on specific characters.
Eternals was so bad it let everyone know what a huge accomplishment it was for Avengers to pull off an ensemble cast that gave equal weight to each character while maintaining a fun sense of camaraderie between a cast of characters learning to work as a team. I'm glad they didn't ruin it with heavy handed diversity messages.

Terrence Howard legit though he is the star of the movie eh? It amazes me how little those actors understand the amount of leverage they have/lack. If you create more trouble than your worth, they will recast your character in a heartbeat.
Yeah.. I don't even understand how he was paid way more than RDJ on the first one considering he's not the main character and, at least looking from this perspective, I can't remember him having that much screen time, plus he wasn't really ever such a huge star.

@@ItWasAShtShow I mean the way you set up the next video it seemed like you already had a bit of research done. But honestly tell me where to look and I'll do the research for you. Love your content, been binge watching all day
6:30 So he got paid over twice what the lead role did as a side character, even though he had very few scenes, but did nothing to help RDJ get a higher paycheck the first time around. But then when you get told "yeah we're not paying you $4m for 5 scenes in a movie" you take it as an insult and expect RDJ to what...give you some of his money? Egotistical Hollywood actor take. You were barely part of the franchise and expected to be treated like their Golden Goose. While it may have been insulting at the time, he got an opportunity to be in the biggest and highest grossing movie franchise of all time and turned it down because of his ego.
At the time, Howard had a shiny new Oscar and all the hype that entails, so his self-belief that he was golden isn't an entire surprise in that context. At the outset he was the big name on the cast sheet (along with Paltrow, another Oscar winner). After the film's release of course, it was all RDJ. Crashing into reality must have been a really nasty awakening for Howard. Paltrow already knew that an Oscar didn't automatically mean better roles and paycheques
Actually, it was more, "Hey, great job on the first movie. Did SO much better than we figured it would. We're also going to have you doing more in the movie, and you'll be getting your own super suit, and actions scenes. However, while we're raising RDJ's pay, we're cutting yours, despite wanting you to do WAY more."
Even in America, there was The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen in 2003. Shame how that movie turned out, with the right direction it could have easily been The Avengers of literature. But it was still one hell of a crossover all the same.
"The Incredible Hulk" with Edward Norton is still one of my favorite movies. The Abomination vs. Hulk battle is just what I've always wanted to see. This fight scene is even better than the comic book version. In Thor, you forgot to mention The Thunder God being knocked out by first Darcy, and then by Jane Foster. Both by hitting him with a car. "Captain America: The First Avenger" is my personal favorite of the MCU. Everything about the film was perfect. "The Avengers" is not worth commenting about.
Wow, that clip of Terrance Howard saying RDJ ghosted him for 3 months after the studio cut out most of his paycheck kind of made me view RDJ differently
Frankly I think he's just full of himself thinking RDJ had any negotiating power in that situation at all at the time. Considering how often RDJ went up to bat for all his co-stars in the years after this supposed betrayal, I have a hard time believing it. RDJ's the reason all the other main Avengers actors got paid as much as they did, why wouldn't he have done the same for Howard if he actually had the power to do so? And that's ignoring the fact that Howard's contribution to the film is indeed less significant than RDJ's and definitely not worth him being the highest paid actor.
@@hiimchrisj That can also be true, we really don’t know the behind the scenes details, but ghosting Terrance for 3 months during that fiasco is a red flag for me.
@@superheroedits1315 There's also a possibility that RDJ did in fact screw Howard over and because of the guilt he changed his ways moving on, but Terrence Howard is also full of shit so who knows how accurate his statement is?

Iron Man 2 is the most under rated MCU film for me it's nearly every bit as good as the first and a proper sequel don't understand why people were mad about the "world building" when every MCU movie has more world building now and no one complains
A lot of people complain about the world building about some of the other movies because, in their opinion, makes the movie feel less about the characters involved.

I disagree with the assertion that Ironman2 is one of the weakest Marvel films. Yeah, whiplash probably needed more scenes but the pace of the movie was was good. The action sequences (especially at the end) were fantastic and IMO worked better than many of the other Marvel movies. Ironman 3 was the movie that didn't work IMO.
Disagreeing on IM2 as a weak MCU film. When you see what Favreau & Downey were up against, it's amazing that it turned out as well as it did. Sometimes fans dis a movie because it didn't fit their expectations, instead of appreciating it for what it is. You know, with No Way Home's Extended Cut coming, I'm wondering/hoping that we could eventually get Similar Treatments for some of the MCU Films, in some capacity since I'm sure that completing Effects Shots, would be something for lack of a better word: "Slightly Complicated".
Please continue this series! I love it so much!
@@KafanskaTV rdj was a big gamble that paid off in the first one so its kind of undertandble but to expect howard to be paid less than the first one is bit of an insult tbh, id of walked with my head held high as well
It’s amazing how easy everyone thinks acting is and how it’s not a constant fight for what you deserve even when you “make it”
@@TheJonnyEnglish What you "deserve" is not a constant. It depends on so many factors. How big is the movie, are you lead or support, at what point in your career are you, ect. Its a rubberband. You can only stretch it so far before it snaps.
Part 3 please, this is great!
Really interesting video! Although, "Three days after Iron Man came out, Marvel immediately announced a sequel" was a funny sentence. It's like "three days after my heart attack, the paramedics immediately arrived"
Ha! Well in movie terms that’s pretty quick…
@@ItWasAShtShow woosh
@@kylespratt4072 …. Thats not a woosh
@@kylespratt4072 ?????????
That’s…. Not even slightly the same considering it’s like… extremely quick considering how long it takes to make movies and shit… why did you leave this comment again?
Add a voice to lobby for part III! Dying to see this. Superlative job!
A year later and I'm still waiting for part 3
Yeah, speaking of which, how’s that research I told you to do going?!
@@ItWasAShtShow I mean the way you set up the next video it seemed like you already had a bit of research done. But honestly tell me where to look and I'll do the research for you. Love your content, been binge watching all day
Your videos are quite entertaining.Thank you
Where’s part 3!????? I neeeeed it
The Casting Director deserves a lot more credit. Can’t wait for part 3!.

So he got paid over twice what the lead role did as a side character, even though he had very few scenes, but did nothing to help RDJ get a higher paycheck the first time around.
1/8 of your original salary is an insult to be fair
Part 1 & 2 are epic!!
This was so good dude! Can't believe you don't have more viewers.
Ah thanks!
What an amazing TH-cam channel! Great work and can't wait for Part 3.
"Never before had a film studio brought together so many properties in a single movie."
Well in America at least. Toho was doing that in the 1960s.
Avengers was in the same year as Kamen rider and super Sentai taisen war
What about some of the Universal Monster films?
Even in America, there was The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen in 2003. Shame how that movie turned out, with the right direction it could have easily been The Avengers of literature. But it was still one hell of a crossover all the same.
Your studies of these films deserve more views - excellent job, thank you.
Where’s part 3???
Asking again. Please Continue. Need a part 3. Please
Wtf?? This only has 6k views!?!? TH-cams algorithm makes me furious
Right? Some one call corporate!
@@ItWasAShtShow i see the views are going up. Pin me for when this vid reaches 1M views 😎
Great video! I’m looking forward to seeing your other videos about the Avengers movies 👍🏾😊
So I just found these and love them. But you pulled a Marvel and left on a huge Cliffhanger! Are you gonna continue the series?
He probably didn't want to deal with TH and his narcissistic ego. Watch his other interviews, he's an asshole.
@@CrisKRA Has Terrance Howard had a history of lying about stuff like that or are you just saying he’s full of shit because you like RDJ?
Stumbled into this series from my recommended page and Ive watched all of em. Please make some more!
so basically we owe the Avengers to Robert Downey Jr who talked half the actors into playing their parts in the first place
The algorithm has chosen you my friend. I've had a few of your videos pop up in my recommended list and now having watched these and your BTTF stuff, I'm here to stay.
Welcome!
For someone who thinks 1×1 =2, Terrence Howard somehow really understood that 1/8th of 1 million is lot less than 1 million.
That shot of Tom Hiddleston in a Thor wig is so cursed XD
We need part 3 😅
just found this channel, part 3 hype. age of ultron is my favorite film ever and i love how you disect the behind the scenes.
I love videos looking deep into the making process of stuff like this, really great video:)) are you making a part 3 sometime?
Never another hulk movie? Never say never.
Another great doc. Thanks for doing it.
0:13 nothing but groin pains
Amazing work. I really appreciate this series.
the MCUs black sheep is now called Eternals
Just had to come back and watch this again cuz I'm dying for Part 3!!!!
This actually got me feeling like Terrence Howard was truly f@&$ed over
Considering how Rhodey is getting his own show on Disney +, that nigga should’ve definitely taken the cut especially with how featured the character is now🤦🏾♂️😂. That’s a God tier fumble in hindsight not to mention all the millions he missed out on
@@Awesomemt2018 he is basically replacing Iron Man, that being said, Terrance Howard not playing a piece of shit as a role is hard to take seriously.
I don't Terrance Howard likes to beat his women's asses man seriously google it man dude is a piece of shit despite him being a damn good actor
He was an asshole and wanted higher pay than the main character. He deserved what he got
Nah man. He was the most replaceable part of iron man. He should have realized that.
man I have been a die hard MCU fan since day 1, but the things I learned form this video is literal gold mine, THANKYOU!!!!
Iron Man 2 is the most under rated MCU film
for me it's nearly every bit as good as the first and a proper sequel
don't understand why people were mad about the "world building" when every MCU movie has more world building now and no one complains
A lot of people complain about the world building about some of the other movies because, in their opinion, makes the movie feel less about the characters involved.
I sure as hell complaining of the world building in the later movies. I mean, why the hell they committing the same mistakes they did for IM2?
@@ThePrinceofHisOwnKingdom the world building is why this franchise is great
@@kylehoschar5309 When it's subtle. These days, it isn't.
It's crap
Dude these MCU videos are EXCELLENT
The 'shawarma' line in The Avengers wasn't ad-libbed by Downey; it was actually a quote from Nicholas Brendon's audition for Buffy years before.
This video was fantastic! I’m currently watching the MCU for the first time and my husband and I discuss them on our podcast. I learned so much from this video! We just started phase 2
Iron Man 3 was trash.
Oh yeah, Iron Man 3 fucking sucked. Iron Man 2, yeah it wasn’t perfect, but it had Justin Hammer. And he was one of the best villains of the MCU.
Action scenes alone doesn't make it a good movie
Disagreeing on IM2 as a weak MCU film. When you see what Favreau & Downey were up against, it's amazing that it turned out as well as it did. Sometimes fans dis a movie because it didn't fit their expectations, instead of appreciating it for what it is. Some great moments and great character development which have even more impact once you've watched the whole series up to Endgame.
Great video---lots of accurate info. I hope it helps you get many more subs :)
6:56 Completely based and absolutely true
Da fuck, dude? Should I ban you now, or you going to attempt to defend that?

Watched part 1 and part 2 back to back. Ready for part 3 only to find out it isn’t there. 😭
"Whedon has become toxic" = Code for: A bunch of whiny, spoiled actors couldn't handle that the world doesn't revolve around them.
