Skipping a Thread Lux is 4 Modules worth of cost for 3 Modules worth of resources, the 12 natural modules in a day is more than enough to do a Skip Thread Lux, Play out an EXP lux (for the daily 10 kills), and save enough for an 18 Module Mirror Dungeon Hard a week. That gets you all of your Dailies and Weeklies while allowing you to stockpile Modules slowly for when you need them. people more optimal than me say to use Lunacy to refresh your Enkephalin to get more modules, but it's not *that* nessissary.

Canto 1 and 2 are definitely not qny character canto. Rodion and gregor are too important characters with important connections that will probably have an ending chapter in either purgatorio or paradiso
its pretty much guarenteed that we get two canto per sinner, hong lu seems to have to do something with too many random shit to only have one canto to explore him entirely, and as you said Rodion and Gregor have too much small cantos.
