The Chinese didn’t have a good mental prep against the Japanese. Wantanabe is extremely talented. Wang was a bit outclassed in this match. Wang’s biggest weakness is that he doesn’t cover enough space compared to Zhen Shi Wei, the other higher ranked Chinese player. The Japanese hit to the gap that forced HDP to cover for him. That is not her strongest feature, which is attacking at the net. In the second game, it is basically over when Wang also lost confidence in his own shot making.
and the sad thing about the chinese pair in this final is when HDP kind a blaming WY when they are losing point instead trying to consort her partner. in my opinion this make WY lose confidence and prone to mistake.
Clearly, Japanese went thru thorough coaching on how to attack Chinese. Their main strategy is to attack Huang, pushing her to the back court, turning defense to attack.
On the other hand, Chinese coach is not able to find the solution. Without the solution, Huang seems disappointed by Wang's performance and does not communicate with Wang on the court. Without partner's appreciation, Wang loses patience and confidence. He shaked his head several times.
agree with you,it seem like Huang kind a upset with Wang and keep blaming him when the Japanese score a point. I think this is what make Wang lose his patience and rythm in the tournament. on the other hand credit to the Japanese who played really well and utilise their skill toteh highest level.

Amazing Watanabe Higashino
Higashino and Watanabe gave a superb performance to turn the tables on Huang and Wang who had beaten them 21-19 and 21-9 in their previous encounter and who had won all five previous matches against them. This time it was the relentless attacks of the Japanese pair which caught the Chinese wrong footed time and again. Higashino in particular was outstanding today and was very sharp with her shots at the front court in contrast to Huang who was lacklustre while Wang was not able to give full play to his height advantage and powerful smashes. Their polished performance gave the Japanese their third title in an event which the Japanese have not done for a long time.
HUANG was quit happy staying in the back court today, and that didn't give them the edge in terms of attacking. Also, Arisa is way faster than most female players due to her exceptional muscle mass.

When ZHENG Siwei and HUANG Yaqiong retired from the tournament, I thought WANG and HUANG would finally win a title, but I was wrong.

you can tell how hard the players play, don't forget,the new japanese coach---from mlaysia, to coach the japanese mix double pair, he must spend tons of time to write 100 pages tactics instructions then translate into japanese that teach the pair how to defense the chinese pair, including zheng siwei and huang yaqiang pair. It seems start working
true Japan has been rocking in all discipline now, they've been hiring top notch coaches, & it's making positive results

@@mayantikasari7567 yeh, honestly everyone kind a expect them to win this tournament especially when you consider their 5-0 h2h. they are chinese second best xd but they are also world no 2. how many time this year they manage to go to final and challenge the no 1 pair.

I agree that her defense I weak, but it is made up a bit by how aggressive she is on the front court.
i think her defense is better here when you compare her defensive skill in the All England.
