I used to stop by his shop in Guthrie, every six months or so. I was amazed that he even remembered me but every time I stopped in, he jokingly tried to sell me the same beat up, old Gibson J-45, every time! I had picked it up my first visit and started playing "Deep River Blues". Because he never put his fiddle down, he jumped right in and we jammed a while. I'll never forget that! He probably doesn't realize how close he's come to selling me that guitar (which later burned up when his shop burned down)! RIP Byron! His love for music and people sets the standard!
