In my opinion this is much better than him doing post round analysis while watching back the footage. Now, he's basically saying what he would during the voice-over, but now its live and raw. Perfect!
Great video. Must play course is Balboa Park in San Diego California. It is a love hate course. The front 9 is short and plays into a canyon. However, you have to be precise with your tee shots and great with elevation change. The back 9 is scenic with many of the holes overlooking the city, point loma, and the pacific ocean. The last two holes will test you, with a long par 3 off an extremely elevated tee which is difficult to judge and a par 4 uphill with a narrow fairway.
@@arabking1985 I am glad someone agreed with me. The toughest hole on the property is actually on the 9 hole executive. Long par 3 number 4 hole. This is one of those holes that you are actually rewarded for hitting short then chipping onto the green. That green is serverly slope and you are granteed a 3 putt if you land on the green.
Matt, I love your channel. In a few months your content has enabled me to go from breaking 100 now on the cusp of breaking 90 which I will do soon. Most importantly it has made golf fun again. Easy life playa! Thank you. The two must play courses in Virginia are Robert Trent Jones (Gainesville, VA) and Kinloch. Kind regards! Chris
The lapel mike is a great idea...hear all the doubts about what went right/wrong, etc, when doing a post analysis of shots into greens, etc...working out the best percentage play to tackle the up'n'downs of each green when needed...it's a constant in golf to coach yourself into what we are doing right/wrong and how to fix it...it's like we are a caddy watching a very good ball striker going about more often than not trying to beat 80 and on the good days beat 75...i love watching the freedom he has with his general play and his smarts around the greens...makes me want to keep practising those short game chips and putts more than the range stuff...will be adopting the sidekick system of 666 for our club championships coming up in feb next month...want to definitely beat 90 on average and try to knock off 85 on average over 4 rounds...want the freedom to think nothing else than 6 greens, 6 up'n'downs and 6 birthday holes and smash those drives...
Great idea with the lavalier mic mate. Just knocking it up a notch.. LIKE A BAUS 0:05 "I'm not going to be using the rangefinder today" 7:16 uses rangefinder
Love hearing your thoughts as you play. Super helpful for someone who is trying to lower their score. These are lessons in course management and managing your on course golf thought demons. And mic is great!
Now THAT’S relatable golf! Juuuuust a smidge off your game and you end up scoring worse than you’re capable of. I did the same thing today on the front nine. Groovy putt on 9 for par, playa!
Its Golfcourse Deutsche Weinstraße. Perfectly located between orchards and vineyards. And the best: If the tuba ist after you to much, just step out of the course and have a beautiful glass of wine while enjoying the view on the palatinate forest.
The weather looks great...Had snow on a couple greens on the course I played last week...Was able to putt thru it tho. Extra roll on the frozen fairways , was nice.
I have the Garmin Approach S60 and used it for a year; the S60 has a full-color map of every hole. You can pick a target, then the watch will give the yardage to the target and the remaining yardage to the green. You can also move the pin around on the green, which would solve the problem you had on hole #6. The S60 seems to be well worth cost of the upgrade over the S40, so I highly recommend the S60. All the best!
Been testing both now - descision after this input: done; will go for watch first. New mic‘ is good; firstly thought maybe too much (audio-) input, but more insight in pre-shot-process is great. Best course around: Attighof Golf and Country Club! Loads of slope, but fine fairways and tugged into the woods; on top: beers and further catering on me. 🤙🏼 Happy new year to all playas!
10:03 - This is the kind of course management I'm usually thinking! "If I top it I still have a third shot." Love it. Hermitage Golf Course in Nashville, TN is a great course here.
This is one of the best videos you have produced matt. Maybe it is the lapel mic and no dubbing later. And the distance watch. Since i have a distance watch this is helpful. Good good video!
My must-play course in my area (Reno, NV) has to be Toiyabe Golf Club. This course is tucked right up against the Sierra Nevadas and offers breathtaking views as you tour through the natural mountains of the course. It makes for a challenging but fair track but applying your course management strategies has already shedded strokes off of my games. Finally broke my 100 but the grind doesnt stop! Maybe planting some feathers will help!
A must play in the Minnesota metro area, Loggers Trail! We don't get lynx style courses up here very often, if at all, but Loggers Trail is definitely lynx style, and its a real treat to play especially in the fall. The gold divot tool / birdie feather would be a great home for my Wadda Playa ball mark!
After recently learning about Arcadia bluffs, that’s a bucket list course to play for me. I’d also love to play forest dunes. Michigan has some gems for golf courses!
Leslie Park Golf Course here in Ann Arbor. Great layout with water and elevation changes. Plus, it's a muni course all can play and multiple tee boxes so you can park your ego at the door and choose the tee that fits your game.
My favorite in my area would be Solid Rock National, which my dad and I created in our hayfield when Covid had closed the local courses. We shut it down when things opened back up, but it was a special memory
A must play in my area is Centurion Country Club in Pretoria Sunny South Africa, beautiful course tough to play and island green on 17. Feels like you're playing TPC Sawgrass. Also love the vids learnt quite a bit and improved my game from 120 to BREAKING 100 just by watching these vids and applying them to my game
Must-Play Course in my area is Penn National Golf Club located in Fayetteville, Pennsylvania! Top 50 Nationally ranked. Two courses. Old course is woods style and new course is links style. Great slacking anytime we tee it there! Planting feathers, growing birdies!
In my area the must play course is The Walker Course. It is on campus at Clemson University, with a signature 17th hole par three including a tiger paw using the green and four surrounding bunkers. It amazes me how many people come to play that course just because of the novelty that it is Clemson University’s course.
I'm a member at a course called West Australian Golf Club - must play. You'd love it. First hole is a 220m+ Par 3 with water on the left and driving range on the right. Tough as hell.
Love this style of commentary Matt! Please do more in the future. Must play course near me: Mansion Ridge Golf Course in Monroe NY. This Jack Nicklaus designed course is a must play!! Amazing condition, full of challenges, and they serve a mean hot dog after the round.
Thank you so much for putting your game on display so we can all get better. Must play in my area: Boulder Creek Golf Club, Streetsboro, OH -- Lovely course with plenty of challenge.
My local course down here in Southern Illinois is Keller’s Corner course. By the way @14:10 in this video you told yourself to follow through on that birdie opportunity. Well, it looks like you forgot to follow through and I didn’t see a feather planted? That’s ok you are the waddaplaya-in-chief. Keep up the great content. - signed waddaplaya-in- training
My favorite course in Atlanta GA, USA area is Echelon Golf Course. It’s very hard and long but listening to you makes me feel like a real playa there :)
Great video, love the commentary and verbalizing your thoughts. That is a tough course, golden rule is keep it on the fairway, the mounds, hollows and trees off the fairway are brutal, lucky to have uphill lies there, downhill lies would be bigger killer on score. Approach on 8th was PGA quality!
Swannanoa in Afton, VA. Some of the greens have sand traps and the sand traps have rough in them but it's cheap and has some of the most beautiful views you'll see.
Must play course in my area; Mooroopna Golf Course, Mooroopna VIC, Australia. Also, if this video taught me anything, is that the playa in chief kept the positive vibe going, even after hitting into less than desirable lies. What a PLAYA!!
My favorite is my home course, Fort Collins Country Club because it is a beautiful parkland course overlooking the Rocky Mountains. Excellent walking course and very good for women, seniors and Kids as not many forced carries into small, very subtle breaking greens. Tree lined so accuracy off tee is critical. Just a great track.
A must play is Paynes Valley here in Missouri. First public Tiger Woods designed course. Plan on playing it this summer and pay tribute to Payne Stewart.
The Regatta, a wonderful Arnold Palmer designed course. Tons of water and a for sure fairway course. Black stone is also a very good course tons of hills fast greens and just a gorgeous view and hidden gem.
Your watch doesn't give you a front of green reading? I really like this vlog format. Very enjoyable! Nice point on playing to your style. Great video!
A must play course in New Zealand is Tara Iti although it's super hard to get on. Absolutely stunning though. I hope to play there someday! Worth the trip to NZ just to play that course.
Right now we can’t play golf in Northern Ireland, so the best coarse you’d be able to play is my back garden. Good conditions. No bunkers but watch out for the bird bowl, it’s a dangerous water hazard.
Happy New Year's!! In my area the best course would be St.Leon Rot!! It held the SAP Open an European Tour event in early 2000's and the Solheim Cup in 2015!!
Eagle Vines just outside of Napa, Ca. Challenging holes ang greens. First course where I actually had to aim for a particular spot of the green. But you can still score well with good shots
Must play course in my area Palmbrook Country Club. Spent $70US range balls included with green fees. Course has been in great shape. I’ve played $100US courses where balls were another expense. Bang for buck can’t go wrong with it. Park style front 9 with more water hazard on the back. Good challenge for all levels of golf.
Waddaman. Lovely course! A must play course in my area is my home course, Glen View GC in lancashire, UK. About 6k yards from the tips, par 69 but has 9 blind tea shots and is heavily protected by wind Also, I Recently got myself a range finder scope and it's been a game changer.
GPS watches are great for those struggling to increase GIR. The better watches also have a feature allowing you to move a cursor to the area the Pin is for more accuracy, but for better players that attack, a precise measurement from a rangefinder is ideal.
Shadow Creek - Las Vegas Nevada Absolutely stunning course and experience. It’s a must go!! Limousine picks you up and drops you off. Also Wolf Creek - Mesquite NV . Crazy elevation and a really fun course.
Hi Matt, you probably know but you should be able to change the target on your watch to match the pin location so that the distance is more exact rather than just to the center of the green - I think you said it was an Approach S40 and I use the same. Tap the green and then tap the pin location. Enjoyed the video, looking forward to the back 9! Must play course in my area is Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club (Northern Virginia, USA).
Oh i feel like a must play course in my general area is pinnacle point in mosselbay SA, i havent actually played it but its on my list for sure. Great videos btw
Great video as always! love the explaination when you play. As a new YT'er I'm always learning how to add effects. Where do you grab the course layout on the side for your shots? Thanks!
Must play course: Hillside greens in Dawson Creek (mile zero of the Alaska highway). It is a par 3 course but it has nice sized greens, lots of variety, and the best kept greens in the area. Very poorly promoted though, I live less than a mile away and it took me a year to find it. Got my first hole in one on hole 9 in September! Keep up the positive content playa!
Forgot to mention it is owned by a garden company so there is a lot of nice greenery and mini gardens around the course, as opposed to the usual rough grass and willows on every other course around Dawson.
Clarens, Free State! That way can be windgat and invite myself, you've played it before so I know the advice will be Baus. Plus, its real pretty this time of year.
Just north of London, in the county of Essex, is the beautiful course called 'Toot Hill'. Undulating, crossed by streams and lakes, high up over the English country side, green and with beautiful trees all around, and sometimes nearly in the middle of the fairway. A great day out, relaxing but a test. Very fast greens with with slopes that, if covered in snow, could be used for skiing! You have to be in the right place on this course.
Great vid, loving the commentary. Tahuna Gold Course, cheap, fun and sheep for company (roped greens and all). However if you like new, swanky with all the facilities, Windross Fram.
Recommendation: In my direct neighbourhood probably "Hummelbachaue", but I would recommend "Bad Neuenahr", which is a little farther away but a really cool course!
Picked up a divot tool and ball marker (golf sidekick) one today at Firethorn. Handed it in so hopefully the playa gets it back. Glendower in Gauteng - SA. Never played there, Wednesday will be my first. Apparently its tough. I'll take my vaseline with. Only smooth tubas the entire round!
Does your Garmin watch give you the option to change the pin position? I use that function quite frequently to commit to a yardage when I feel I can attack. The watch gives more info than just middle of the green, no?
I have seen you do Uitenhage & Wedgewood - So I would suggest Humewood next : The true Links. Also (not sure if you have it on or not on your watch) but there is a 'true distance' function on the watch to help with uphill/downhill holes. Obviously in Port Elizabeth
Swope Memorial in Kansas City, MO in the states. Designed by Tillinghast who designed Bethpage Black, Winged Foot, and others. Hosted a tour event many decades ago.
Must play course: Highlands Golf Course (Tacoma Wa). cheap Par 9 par 3 through a neighborhood, but just about every shot you have houses in in your view so you have to think about it all the time, keeps your head in the game . Holes go from 90 to 195 so you'll need all your irons. Great course for a quick 60 minute round.
Must play courses in my area are Devil’s Pulpit, Devil’s Paintbrush, TPC Toronto. All in Caledon, north of Toronto. Im hoping to cross TPC Toronto off my list once it’s warm enough
Must play courses in Oregon, well.. Bandon Dunes, obviously. But a sneaky public course is Stone Creek in Oregon City, it has an amazing contrast between the front and back 9 (the front being much more open while the back having far more trees, and almost a forest-course feel.
In parsons, West Virginia, there’s a small 9 hole course that tests ya. It’s open enough for new players but challenging enough to make you work for it. It’s called holly meadows golf course.
Can you please make videos like your hour long putt like a baus for chipping, driving, wedges, long irons, and short irons? Your how to putt like a baus helped my putting so much.
Lots of interesting courses but gotta play Brancepeth Castle. Whispering Peter Alliss can't be wrong. Par 3 9th a beautiful golf holf and so many interesting holes.
The lapel mic is making this like a Golf Sidekick ASMR
Love the lapel mic - real-time energy right into my ears
Was thinking the same thing. Love to hear how better players react in the moment to the good, the bad, & the ugly🤣
Matt, the running commentary is really interesting. Will be even more so when compared to your post-round analysis. Great video!
In my opinion this is much better than him doing post round analysis while watching back the footage. Now, he's basically saying what he would during the voice-over, but now its live and raw. Perfect!

This mic is great. Brilliant to hear your immediate reaction and things you're thinking as you're just about to hit.
Lake Chabot with one of the only par 6's in the country would be my pick for best course in the area. Thanks for all the quality vids
Great audio, Glendower Golf Club. Cant wait for part 2.

New mic life playa. Always a pleasure to watch your content baus.
Arcadia Bluffs is not just a must play in my area, but must play in the entire state. Especially the bluffs course.
Must also need like a zillion dollars. 🤑
After recently learning about Arcadia bluffs, that’s a bucket list course to play for me. I’d also love to play forest dunes. Michigan has some gems for golf courses!

Kingsdown Golf Club, Wiltshire, UK. Been there since 1880! On the site of an old quarry so some of the fairways look like jelly - great course.
Right now we can’t play golf in Northern Ireland, so the best coarse you’d be able to play is my back garden. Good conditions. No bunkers but watch out for the bird bowl, it’s a dangerous water hazard.

Ravisloe is the must play public golf course in Chicago. A classic old-school Donald Ross layout, and a perfect course to walk
I second this recommendation. Best walking course in the country.
Glendower best in JHB. Waddacourse. Love it so much

Does your Garmin watch give you the option to change the pin position? I use that function quite frequently to commit to a yardage when I feel I can attack. The watch gives more info than just middle of the green, no?
Yes it does
Bamburgh Castle Golf Club - England. Can’t be many courses that start with 2 par 3’s followed by 2 par 5’s! And the views! Whaddalife!
I have seen you do Uitenhage & Wedgewood - So I would suggest Humewood next : The true Links. Also (not sure if you have it on or not on your watch) but there is a 'true distance' function on the watch to help with uphill/downhill holes. Obviously in Port Elizabeth
Grew up in uitenhage so played humewood a few times favourite course in SA
Swope Memorial in Kansas City, MO in the states. Designed by Tillinghast who designed Bethpage Black, Winged Foot, and others. Hosted a tour event many decades ago.
Must play course: Highlands Golf Course (Tacoma Wa). cheap Par 9 par 3 through a neighborhood, but just about every shot you have houses in in your view so you have to think about it all the time, keeps your head in the game . Holes go from 90 to 195 so you'll need all your irons. Great course for a quick 60 minute round.
Maaz Nadeem: Favorite course to play would have to be TPC POTOMAC in Potomac, Maryland. Very beautiful course
Must play courses in my area are Devil’s Pulpit, Devil’s Paintbrush, TPC Toronto. All in Caledon, north of Toronto. Im hoping to cross TPC Toronto off my list once it’s warm enough
Play Arcadia bluffs, it’s in northern Michigan and it’s incredible
Must play courses in Oregon, well.. Bandon Dunes, obviously. But a sneaky public course is Stone Creek in Oregon City, it has an amazing contrast between the front and back 9 (the front being much more open while the back having far more trees, and almost a forest-course feel.
love it
In parsons, West Virginia, there’s a small 9 hole course that tests ya. It’s open enough for new players but challenging enough to make you work for it. It’s called holly meadows golf course.
Can you please make videos like your hour long putt like a baus for chipping, driving, wedges, long irons, and short irons? Your how to putt like a baus helped my putting so much.
Happy new year, Matt (and lil sis Teaski!) and "Frohes Neues" Didi & co... ! :o)
Lots of interesting courses but gotta play Brancepeth Castle. Whispering Peter Alliss can't be wrong. Par 3 9th a beautiful golf holf and so many interesting holes.
