Something that annoys me is what people believe to be false advertising. A sale tag left up past its expiration date doesn't have to be honored and is not false advertising.

As I understand it, if a company doesn't follow their own policies or follows them inconsistently when they fire you, you might have a civil case against them.

I’ve had many people swear that you are legally allowed to return a brand new vehicle within 3 days of purchase, including someone claiming to be a lawyer. I don’t know where is myth came from but there is no law in the US that allows this.

It's possible these people are confusing dealership policies with laws. Some dealerships do offer that policy in the US, I think.

@ not on new cars. A new car that is titled cannot be returned as it is no longer considered a new car. The value has dropped and the dealer would lose money.

I believed that one for a long time. My brother learned the hard way that it's not true. He tried to return a POS car to a used car dealer and they told him where to stick it.

In Greece, the tax bracket system is the stupid one. Servers are refusing tips to avoid going to the higher bracket (btw, tips are taxed 40%). I am a civil engineer. We (all engineers) are oblligated to pay 32% income tax, 24% added value tax, 20% pre-payment of the yearly tax, and a fixed rate (about 150% of the monthly minimum wage) just because we are self-employed.

The term "value added tax" is one of the dumbest bits of newspeak ever invented. Making something more expensive by taxing it adds no "value" whatsoever.

15:11 I believe the speed cameras in Phoenix only trigger for speeds in excess of 10mph above the speed limit. That’s more because the cameras would probably break if it tried to get you for anything lower than that considering how common speeding is in the Phoenix metropolitan area

    How entrapment works.
Also that businesses are required to accept cash because it's "legal tender". No, no they do NOT have to accept cash, EVER. Legal tender just means the cash is legally able to be used to pay, not that anyone is legally required to accept it. A business can be card only sales if they so choose.

The 10mi over Myth likely spawned from how Fines are calculated for Speeding. Most places have the same fine up to 5mi over. In fact, many officers will take the speed they caught to just 5 over for first offenses.

From what I was told by police officers in my state when I was younger, the myth about the 5 over rule actually stems from mechanical variance. It's more presisentent in older model cars. But pretty much entails that the speedometer loses its accuracy the older the car, so your car could be reading the speed limit but you might actually be moving 3 mph over or under the posted speed. This can also happen is you have had any kind of dash work in your car. Though as long as your car doesn't have any kind of digital read out for your speed.

The tax bracket thing is so common. There's another story about the tax bracket myth. My mother thinks that it is a new concept. She thought it was the mythical way up until Trump's presidency and that he changed it. Wouldn't listen to me when I tried to set her straight.
