I'm so happy..dinadaanan ko lang to galing PNU noon tas everytime my papa and I sees it..sabi nya sana marestore talaga to. Kaso namayapa na si Papa but seeing this finally restored ang saya 😍 Then SB19 and Ben&Ben performed here just recently. SB19 for the Kalayaan 2021 and SB19 with Ben&Ben for their collaboration. I have a special memory at the Met, having been able to watch a show on my short vacation there in 1989. The show I saw was "Bodabil Atbp" with a variety of stars including Vilma Santos. We were at the balcony and during the intermission, I saw several faces in the high society there like Tingting Cojuangco in the lobby. Hopefully, I'll get to visit this grand dame theater in the near future in all her glory. Thanks to the Duterte admin.--culture and arts were not forgotten in its grand infra plans through BBB.

I came to visit MET in 1989. I came from Cebu City attended a National Workshop Seminar. Nagkayayaan na pumunta sa MET pra sa Vilma show. Maganda ang lugar, malaki. Swerteng nka pasok at thanks sa opportunity to be able to see MET before bumalik sa Cebu.

I remember this building, where boxing was held during the sixties. Flash Elorde was the Junior lightweight Champion of the world, my favorite boxer. I was in HS when my dad asks me to join him watch amateur boxing sa Besa boxing arena. It was also televised on TV with camera standing on the sides. Thanks Fern sa mga video mo, masarap sariwain ang mga nakaraan, lalo na yoong time kasama ko ang tatay ko.

I also watched an adaptation of "My Fair Lady" and the opera entitled "The Mikado" at the Metropolitan Theater. Those were the halcyon days. I hope that the government pushes through with the restoration in earnest. It is both an architectural and cultural gem that we cannot afford to lose as we have already lost so many beautiful buildings to neglect and decay.
Time has brought Manila buildings to decay. Buti na lang binubuhay ulit parang Renaissance. Great job Fern.

SB19 was the first to perform after the renovation if I'm not mistaken. Good job for reviving the historical theater.

I wish, MET will have its own resident performers, and welcome guest performers from neighboring schools - considering that we no longer have the PhilAm Life Theatre in UN Avenue which used to host local performances and art functions in the City. We Filipinos need the cultivation of the culture and the arts in our country because it gives our culture soul, conscience, and discipline - something that continues to diminish through time.
Kyt salamat sa leacture mo kasi yung teacher ko di ko naintindihan ang leacture nia joke lang 1970-1980 jan kami nag fi field trip kasi noon binibisita ang mga histical place at kung anong istoria ang nasa loob nito kasi di nga kami taga maynila kaya excited kami pag may field trip sa maynila pati manila zoo pinapasok noon sarap mag throw back nakakabata ng feeling

Not only during pre war time that the Met became a boxing arena but even during the post war period.
The whole decade of 1960-1970 that it became again a pro boxing place with almost all the events were televised.The promoter was Armando C. Besa, the son of Mamerto Besa, owner of the Besa Shoes, one of the most popular hand made shoes in Manila, like Camara shoes, Alfonso , Glenmore, Mr Manly and Ang Tibay.

Nadadaanan ko pa yan noon on my way to work nung meron pang Magnolia shop Rendezvous. 😄
They need to have a decent parking lot for people to go there. Then have high end restaurants and stores next to it. Make it a place people with money are willing to go. Otherwise, it will just be an expensive pretty building no one uses again which is most of it's history. When people with money don't go to certain places, people with no money will and poop, pee, and throw garbage there when no one is looking.

during the 70"s jan kami nag aaral ng karate at may boxing gym sa loob nyan dahil giba giba na yan nuon at maraming squatters ang nakatira sa gilid gilid nyan mabuti na renovate yan sayang ang historical value dahil ako ay Manila born kaya alam ko yan pati un dating Jai-Alai building na may historical value din giniba lang nila at pinalitan ng building ng Adamson ngaun jan din ako malapit sa San Marcelino graduate sa PCAT now TUP kaya kabisadong kabisado namin ang Metropolitan Theater na yan nakita ko yan nung maganda pa at nakita ko rin nung giba giba na sya

It’s part of Duterte legacy, Clean Manila loud and clear. Mayor is just a local official that s oblige to implement it. Tts a national project mula daan, lansangan, ilog, dagat at infrastructure. Mayor is Isko is doing well but this is actually a national project that Isko has given a signal to clean it.

Sana lagayan nila ng maraming cctv sa palibot yan at security pag gabi. Para di vadalis at tulogan ng street derellers at lagyan nila ng maraming ilaw sa labas at yung mga halaman pagandahin nila yung halaman pa ikot.

I also went there in metropolitan theater in dec 2022 the shows i've seen there is Puso ng pasko theatrical, and Ibong adarna from 1940's
This was restored during the time of a former president and I had the privilege to be able see it inside out and even take photos of it and attend our company's annual singing competition there. But after sometime, it was again left to rot.

How I wished that the Jai Alai buildg and other Art Deco heritage buildings were saved like the Met. Kaya namn pala ibalik sa dating ningning ang mga ganitong heritage bldg.
