As the soulmate and an alter- ego of Kalaignar, the loss of his PA Shanmugasundaram is a huge loss for DMK as he carried the thoughts of Kalaignar, anecdotes about his day to day activities in politics apart from being as a close observer from proximity. Whether Kalaignar family gets up early or not, Shanmugasundaram appears in front of him in the wee hours. He was suffering from untold torture during Mgr period with political wickedness as Shanmugasundaram refused to join Mgr bandwagon and owed his allegiance to Kalaignar till his last breathe. Late Jnani explained how Shanmugasundaram suffered during Mgr regime and the torture unleashed by Mgr showed how wicked he was towards his opponents. Shanmugasundaram was a staunchest friend of Kalaignar and perhaps the loss of Kalaignar would have worried him ad infinitum. With his memories, now Shanmugasundaram breathed his last. Along with him was lost scores of memoirs which would have been encompassed or brought out in print with more than million pages / numerous volumes /folios encoding his experience with kalaignar over 40 years.
