Specific Rosemary and Co. brushes I tend to use the most that could be a good basis for your first set of brushes (select "short handle"):
-Series 33 brushes, sizes 0,1,2 and 10/0:

Tape can be your best friend at times, where he says to switch form dry brushing to a layer style paint you can just add tape lightly to the fur around the armor and go ham on the armor with the dry brushing. Be careful to lightly apply or you will strip pain off when you pull off the tape. Also its a Bowcaster not a crossbow, but they look great.
A man must buy more paint. My local tabletop gaming supplies store loves you Sorastro :) good job once again

It's a track a composed last year and did spend a very long time on it (as I wasn't working to any particular deadline - unlike when I compose for most of the painting videos). I may well use a shortened version of the main theme for when I tackle some fantasy-themed minis (hopefully later this year).

ordered the game yesterday and was watching your videos those whole two days. feeling a bit overcharged cause it will be the first time i will paint miniatures and i think painting chewie or vader in your awesome way is a bit too challenging for me as a beginner.

Yes, a GREAT tutorial on Gaarkhan (whom I will be painting after Murne Rin...no tutorial on her yet...? sigh), and I absolutely agree about the wine! Does it make the tutorial easier if I have a glass or two while following it...? (pleasesayyespleasesayyes) ;D

What brushes do you use and how do you clean them?

Thanks War Panda! I usually use Rosemary and Co Series 33 brushes (typically a size 2). Sometimes I use Windsor and Newton Series 7 (Size 1). I usually just wash them in water :)
Thank you! I use some dish soap when cleaning but I'm finding that my brushes are losing their shape/form quite quickly. I'll try your brushes and see what difference it makes. Blaming my tools isn't a good sign :D thanks again
Hey Sorastro, I went a little too dark with washes on the face. Any ideas for lightening it back up?
+Brian Vassalo Hi Brian! Just lighten it up with the lighter base tone and re-apply the wash, just keep the layers reasonably thin so as not to obscure the details with loo many thick layers :)
Is it safe to say that when you apply the dry brushing, it looks like you have a minimal amount on the brush to apply just a faint layer in most cases?

I appreciate these are a huge amount of work for you and only just completed this one, but did you have a plan for the next one? I am steadily painting through the set but will leave whatever you plan next to last to get the guide

Oh well, worth a check, will go with Fen Signis myself as already painted sab's and rebel troopers so he will need to match them anyway. 95% through the wookies, great guide and they are coming out well
One thing I would change though is the order as for a beginner like me hard to avoid the odd bit of silver and think I would do this 1st so any errors can be painted over with the browns.
That's certainly an option, except you then run the risk of hitting the armour when you dry brush the fur :)

I have a question, what can I use instead of Tyrant Skull for dry rushing? For some reason the stores I buy my paints from don't carry it.

When you mix your shades, do you just use a brush to take it out? Or a dropper of some sort? Or just pour it out?

You used Lahmian Medium to your Nuln Oil for Chewie. Does the Lahmian just thin out the Nuln Oil or does it serve another cause? I can back it up and see if you explain it.
Conan Pace Hi Conan! Good question! Yes - I sometime like to thin my washes so that I can build up the layers more gently and stop before adding too much. But the medium also turns the Nuln Oil more into a glaze, so it covers the entire area more evenly (which is what I wanted - especially for the darker patches on Chewbacca).

What did you use to compose your music? (If it's not a brand secret, I mean lol)
Hey! It's no secret: I use the amazing VST instruments by EastWest Music, and Cubase with a MIDI keyboard to input the notes (and a PC with 128gb of RAM to handle the instruments!) :)
XD Although I make gaming videos, I don't know that I see myself with anything more than 12GB of RAM
Yeh.. it's the VST instruments I use are extremely RAM hungry :)

+Jacques Fouchee They're 34mm scale. So your standard size humans are a little over 3cm tall. The Wookies would be closer to 4cm

Argh, went a bit heavy on the highlights. The drybrush before the wash is especially bad here, the model look awful. The dark brown and red brown is completely over powered by the drybrush.
I'll need to strip the paint and start again. Annoying, but not hard to do.
How heavy would you say to go on the drybrush? Barely any coverage at all (especially on the dark areas)?
Hi Joshua! Before you strip the paint - have you tried adding the wash yet? You might find it tones things down nicely, and don't forget - you can add as many layers of the dark wash as you want to whichever areas you want to darken down..
I've put one layer of wash on and just ended up with even more contrast. Could try one or two more to try and darken things up

I totally goofed on Chewbacca :( I dry brushed way to hard and now no amount of Nuln Oil will darken it. it looks like his fur has dirty blonde highlights :/
No problem! Just re-apply some of the dark base tone to those areas to start afresh and give a lighter dry brush :)
I did the same thing and simply dry brushed with Mournfang Brown over the too light areas. It turned out ok and added another layer of texture to the fur. Do it very lightly and only in the too light areas and you'll be ok. Not as good as Sorastro's, but better than reprinting the whole thing.
