Wunderschöne und spannende Interpretation dieser perfekt komponierten oder fein arrangierten Meisterwerke im inspirierenden Tempo mit gut artikuliertem Anschlag und möglichst effektiver Dynamik. Wahrlich genialer und talentierter Pianist!
Thank you so much! I must have forgotten that this piece was connected to Chopin. Funny thing, many years ago when I was playing Chopin I learned this first piece by Rachmaninov. I didn't know the connection back then.
What in the world, where is Var 18? It is a necessary transition passage from the funeral march of Var 17 to the brightness of Var 19 (hints of A major, hints of opening "falling fourth and whole-step up")
I simply prefer Scherbakov's virtuosity, this piece is a monstrum of difficulties, and requires not only perfect musicianship but really great virtuosic abitilies. Moreover here i don' t feel the real dramatic tension required between the various variations. A very good effort, in every respect, bravo to this Interpreter, obviously... but Rachmaninov' s Music requires only ...Absolute Greatness.
