- In this video I take you thru a metal door installation. I show you a couple tips on hanging a steel door by yourself and keeping it where you want it. In my opinion, I like the Plyco 92 series metal doors the best thanks to their ease of install and thermally broken jambs and door slabs.
Let me know if you guys just liked watching the install or would prefer a voice over of what is going on?

Liked the straightforwardness of the video. Easy to follow, not lengthy.
i did like the video format especially the use of your finger to point out the gaps and what you did to correct them. As always love the content.
Keep these no talk all action videos coming!
Thank you for showing how easy this installation can be and also sharing the importance of the thermal break. It's one of our favorite doors too!
Another excellent topic and the episode length is perfect. Realize some videos have to be a little longer but less than 10 minutes is ideal for a single topic. Great too see such superb craftsmanship. It is hard to come by anymore.
Well done Kyle. 😁👍🏼😁👍🏼
This is so therapeutic, love the camera work, and the trades work!!
I prefer hearing you explain as we go along! I didn't hate this, but you asked & that's my 2 cents 😁
I've been a big fan of the ASMR shorts and now you put out a long form construction ASMR video... I didn't know I needed this in my life. I'd watch this in all formats you do, ASMR, a whole step by step walk though and again in a complete project time lapse! Love your content! Keep up the good work!!
I wouldn’t mind more ASMR style videos like this on stuff you’ve done thousands of times already.
You sure make it look easy very well done professionally 👍👍🇺🇸
Ima fan of either style. You do you, we'll watch.
I like them both. I giggled a bit thinking how it was edited like a cheap tik tok video yet the info is pertinent. Well done.
I look forward to the what where why....might I say your effort is well stated..
Glad you fixed the key hole being upside down. I was about to loose my 💩 😅😅😅
The only thing I would add is a Jamsill sill pan flashing. Well worth the money for preventing dry rot at the threshold.
Thats a neat trick using cut ends to make a barrier to keep it flush.
Love your videos just how you've always done them. Keep it up
Loved the ASMR style video, Great editing and the content spot on as always. Keep it up!
It sounds like a small detail but I’m glad you titles this video, “metal door installation video” instead of the same old, “….install”. To is here in the northeast, it’s “installation” of products.
Great video format honestly both are nice
Loved the format. Short, sweet, talking only when you needed to talk, otherwise used the arrows or fingers to point out the important stuff. Would have made me subscribe if I wasn't already!
RR Buildings making ASMR construction videos, what a time to be alive! Lol, nice work fellas!
Krapp, I like complete process moderate details, that there is a fun fact this is a TV SERIES to a country dweller
since i had customers complaining the door couldn´t be tight at the bottom, i only use colored sealing stuff. i used clear earlier and light was visible.
Where was the voice over?
edit: I genuinely mean it could be useful to have the voice over.
What a time to be alive! I learned so much from y'all on this channel, buildshow & youtube all around.
ASMR door install, nice.
I think you broke my 20 minute record :)
Great vid
Scott brown collaboration? Jk love you watching you guys do awesome work. Richard from finish carpentry as well
I’ve always wondered what those little fuzzy squares were for. I always toss them 😂
I was ready to comment that the key hole looked upside down, but you figured it out anyways 😆
Perfect timing there Kyle, I'm going to be installing the exact same door next week on my build, Paul and his guys are doing an excellent job on my shop/man cave, maybe just not as quick as I would of liked but at least where making slow progress! Thanks for all the info, take care and don't work to hard!
Who is Paul?

In the last video someone complained you and Greg talked to much. Now someone will probably say you didn't talk enough. Some people are never happy 😂
I’m disappointed that they haven’t worked out when enough talking is enough.
@@miltont5173yea, I hate channels that just talk to talk… when your adding no new information your just trying to generate extra watch time for no reason.
Not a Mastercraft door this time and I also saw and heard the reasoning behind that. I also see that door prices have doubled since I last sold them in 2013.
Wow, a grand for one simple prehung door. Prices are through the roof right now.
do you have specs on the black tape you use for the door? Thanks!
As always Kyle, you make everything look so easy……maybe it’s the difference between a quality door and a cheap door. Do those doors have a deadbolt option for residential use?
Yes you can do a dead bolt… my opinion is deadbolts only stop an honest thief…
That’s the same with aluminum windows! Make sure there is a thermal break, or you windows will sweat, big time, causing damage to drywall inside and to the wood around the window! This will end up being a costly mistake! It’s worth paying a little more for good windows!
Канал очень хороший, давно смотрю
Kyle seeing the quality of that Plyco door, would you ever consider using that in a residential wood frame house?
The thermal break is a great thing, but doesn't it make the doorframe less secure because the interior metal can be split away from the main frame? Perhaps the gasket is the super adhesive that's stronger than welding, but I would question it.
I've tried this before, trying to scrap an old slide door. You aren't going to break it. You're going to break the screws first. Then there's just taking the screws out of the frame.oooor just break the window and stick your hand in to open...
Seems like every metal door I've ever seen has shreds of rubber coming off the bottom edge. They get scraped off by the metal door sill. Is there any way to adjust the fit so this doesn't happen? It does not seem to be an issue of age. This will start right after install. BTW, I did not do the install, but Id like to fix it.
Yooo kyle!
Sorry, probably a dumb questions but what were you adding in the corners to fill the gaps in the weather stripping?
What flashing is that? All mine has this peel and stick stuff that is hard to get off.
What are your thoughts that you can’t open the door all the way on an “In-swing” door? I can see that being a turn off for some.
Sure Seems like this will be turned Into an instructional video for plyco.
that is up to them lol...this is just our favorite door to use and the big thing for me is people using a door like this over a cheap wood frame door from a big box store on a post frame....that just isn't a great idea
How do you trim out the inside of the door with the jam smaller than the wall framing? I've looked through all your videos and can't find it.
i see the key hole is upside down, the key goes in upside down, is that something that is always done in America because we install the other way in South Africa
don't you need a door with a 7 9/16 jamb for 2x6 wall with 2dc6 girt? Does anyone make a pre-hung door for a post frame home?
The least words to length of video ratio ever! 😂
👍✌
👍
If you set the door in the opening and found that the bottom of your opening was not level so you ended up with a gap under one side of the door, how would you fix or fill that gap?
Low-expansion (the window/door version) of expanding foam. THIS IS IMPORTANT. If you use regular expanding foam, it WILL buckle the door/window, probably irreperably. Use shims to support the bottom of the door too if the gap is horizontally wide.
Usually you cut the Jamb down to match.
@@aaronmdjones thank you
what brand of tape do you use everything i seem to use is sticky but after a couple days starts peeling off
might be using the Block-It seam tape to go with the wrap
This is lp weatherlogic tape and you always need to squeegee the tape because it’s pressure sensitive. A hand doesn’t do the job

A thousand dollar door with a $2 lock 😂
What's Up Kyle!
