I have a question tho that your job or something you do as a hobby ? I can see a lot of very expensive stuff that I wish I had at my place where I work
I did this yesterday, took me 2 days to create this (still need to add bar reinforcements combined with wood (1 day more of work)), but i don't have my workshop i worked laying down bricks on the ground. With what i had at disposal i'm satisfied with the results. Tools used, two grinders, rel machine. Props to the guy in the video. Cheers!
Thank you for the many ideas this inspires. The use of recycled material coupled with the application of both tig and mig and the way you demonstrate the various metal working details without dialogue is epic. Now to my project - two gate entrances and a basement door. Looking forward to your next video.
I’m watching this video and I catch myself instinctually closing my eyes every time he does a tack weld. 🤦♂️ 😂 Once you get flash burns, you never forget the 2am wake-up and that feeling of hot sand in your eyeballs. Ugh! Outstanding craftsmanship as usual by the way. 👍
*_It does not have enough protection. It is enough to loosen the screws that secure the frame and remove the door completely. The frame must be installed from the inside_*
I see what you're saying. The outside looks great, but the security is something I'm sure he can figure out. Commercial doors with steel frames wrap around the wood frame on the outside AND the inside. With this man's knowledge of welding, he could add on another piece of metal on the inside of the frame, and the inside around the frame, then weld it to the frame he built on the outside. He'd have his own, custom, commercial metal frame for the cost of the materials. He'd save hundreds and make it much more secure.
They look very good, but fyi there is nothing secure about those doors. You have straight access to the screws holding the frame from the outside and the cilinders stick so far out you could break them with a big pair of pliers. But that clearly wasn't the point of the video. Kudos to the metalist for the pretty doors.
Excellent work. I have to rewire my garage with a subpanel for 50 amp service and the first thing I am doing is building a better security door. I will have to do the opposite of what you did on the frame because I am tacking it outside an inside swinging door. Will just install some brackets to put the hinges on is all. Will have to get creative to hide the external hardware though. Might have to rip some pipe into quarters and cut notches to fit the hinges and locking mechanism. Then fit the quarter pipe just right to weld onto the angle iron. The curves might make it look interesting. Artsy fartsy even. I dunno, looks good in my head.
Great job, the only thing I would have used differently was the bullet hinges, I would always spend a little extra and purchased the type with grease nipples, I’ve used the bullet hinges in the past without the grease nipples and within 12 months they start to bind and even seize up.
How are you making them weather proof? I didnt see a seal added and they're pretty big outer lips. Ptherwise, look amazing, would be curious to see how you would tackle opening windows.
I would advise some form of reinforcement in the door here In real terms the only thing holdin your wood to the frames is the screws at the very end meaning that it would be very easy to break in by kicking the wood panel from the door Please consider welding or bolting a few angle iron pieces atleast to physically retain where the cross spars sit
Love it. But please make video on how we can hide the screw. Cz the frame screws are fitted from out side. Any one can easyly unscrew and get in without even touching the door lock. Or have you fitted any from inside for safety. This my only concern. I love the work.
Ja man muss nehmen was man bekommt.

Thank you 😁 Tig: small welds, if i don't wanted to grind the weld of, no space to grinding, Connection between two different materials, no flying sparks or weld that they have to hold 100% Mig: faster, if you have a gab or dirty material
Taugen die was?
All looks very good and fancy but the screws holding it all in place are exposed. So what stops any potential burglar coming along with his cordless screwdriver and just undoing those philips screws and removing the door and frame as a whole?
Remember, it looks easy because he is good.
😅

Yes, I know that happens to me too 😂
Thank you 😁
Can you please shoot a shop tour with an explanation of the tools you use?
Will come 😁
Can’t wait for this!!
It came out really pretty. I wonder if it´s more safer to attach the frame bolts from the inside instead.
Despite that I love the doors!

Agree.. All that amazing job for screwing on external wooden boards. Also the lock is not the greatest either.
Exactly what I was thinking, great job to protect a cardboard box and he put frame on the outside o.o

@The Metalist - do you have a build video of these Welding Fab Tables?
Step #1. Level welding table on all corners diagonally and each way.
Step #2. Follow The Mentalist to the T.
Just my two cents.

What type of welding is this and what machine used?
Good job 👍
I would have screwed the door's frames ... from the inside of the shed ? otherwise very clear video. thanks.
Thank you 😁 i still can bolt it throw the wood 😅
Must not be in the states. Never seen T shaped angle iron here. I wish we had it, I would use it all the time.
Very nice, very cool job, you have to add to your human shape tools a bench welding wire cuter, with a human tooth chape cuter 😋 😁
Thank you 😊 There will come some tools in the direction 😁😁😁

All looks very good and fancy but the screws holding it all in place are exposed. So what stops any potential burglar coming along with his cordless screwdriver and just undoing those philips screws and removing the door and frame as a whole?
Yes at 11:18 you can see that i screwed it also from the inside. The screws outside are there to bring it flat to the wood. A little awkwardly shown😅
Can’t the entire door and frame be removed via the Phillips #2 screws on the outside of the structure?
Ah i screwed it also from the inside 11:18
The screws outside arejust ther to bring it flat to the wood

The brand is called "Fein", I guess they are available in Europe only.
Where did you get the brackets for the door handle?
horizontal wood?
great doors and i really like that you built the door frame also. where did you get the bar lock system / hardware?

where did you get that pen???

this door can be opened easily with a screwdriver
it seem like, I haven't show it in the Video...watch the last short ...
