I had to work Tuesday and Wednesday but saw 2 bucks crossing the road Tuesday night and one Wednesday night on my way home from work and I normally only see 3-5 deer a month on my drive to and from work. I’d say your information on deer movement is spot on 👍
Shot a doe on Tuesday , went out after work. first deer with the VXR & the new Sitka. Also the first deer I’ve watched drop with my bow, no track job, using the Muzzy Trocar HB’s . Feels good. Wanted the share the story. More importantly huge confidence booster for my 15 day rut cation that’s just around the corner. 😌
I have been a hunter since I was 8 y.o. I picked up bow hunting about 12 years ago and can't get enough of it.. I've been watching your videos for a few years now and your videos are second to none on every top. I like what you do and I've definitely become a more successful bow hunter by taking your advice. I only hunt public land in CT and it's very trying for every reason you can imagine. I finally decided to hang a vine this year around June and the deer traffic there has been more than any mock scrape I have ever created. I'm looking forward to starting a food plot on my parcel up North next year. And there's no question I'll be getting few books from you. Just wanted to say Thank You for sharing your knowledge.
Good video. Had one my first bucks get knocked off wall broke g2 my grandpa glued it mixed little something in with it looks good to this day. Had uncle one fall from high sealing wall not a tine broke

Love your channel Jeff. Just drove to Wisconsin for my first Archery opener from central PA and harvested a nice 8 point last weekend and I have a 10 pointer roaming around the property I'm hunting in PA. Your pointers have been a big help the last couple years. Good hunting!

Here in North Dakota if the winds not a constant 8-12 mph two to three hours after my hunt I won’t go out and burn a stand the deer won’t move til last lite here if the wind is less than 5mph that what I have experienced in my spots in the past and I don’t pay much attention to the moon these days just hunt the fronts and wind speed
Jeff I looked at the weather on Saturday for this week and immediately jumped up and said "I can't miss Wednesday! Temp dropped 15 degrees in 20 hours. I'm taking off!" It was like I heard you in my head. Went and checked HUNTWISE and it was an 80% sit here in Fon Du Lac, Wisconsin. Thank you for all of the training over the years. Now I'm starting to think like a Whitetail.
This is amazing! Just got back from field dressing my first EVER! Also, had an 8-point get within 30 yards behind me and loudly huffed four times before walking away. Couldn’t get a shot because he was behind me, unfortunately. An amazing experience today I’ve never experienced. I hunted today because of the weather from learning from Jeff. He is SO knowledgeable! Thanks for all the tips, Jeff!

I was shocked to return from the field to see your video. So timely! Why did that buck huff like he did? Warning others because he smelled or saw me? It was intense!
@@garrettstraffon608 man, I had showered with scentless soap, washed and dried towels and clothes in scentless detergent, sprayed my boots, coat, etc., and hadn’t moved a muscles for ten minutes (I was almost sleeping) when he huffed. Wind was in my face from his position too. He was a keeper.

I did hv a question on a new Blind location I just set up at, one of my Cameras right down a shooting lane about 25 yds I have a Doe and her 2 youngsters that are Bedding down every night between 11pm-3am and afternoon around 11am-4pm. I did have a 8 pt in that area on my other cam but not bedding there, Do you think that stand shot for Opening Bow at all ??
The front is coming thru as I type.misting rain an very strong nw winds 30mph .I'm in the Missouri Ozarks mountains SE side .the deer move late evening yesterday and fed til 2:30 am .the buck I'm after left the plots at 3am . according to the camera .so I'm going to go out around the lunch time to hunt him . he's a really large wide heavy 10 point with a younger 14pt running with him...I wish you an Dillon great luck with venty . thank you for all the help and info on making my property a buck magnet.so far I saw more bucks lately than I have in ten years of owning the farm.the hard work is being seen paying off
Hey Jeff love your channel and am finally using your mock scrape and licking branch technique this season, was super excited when I checked my camera but the deer are ignoring and actually avoiding the branch over the trail lol I’m down in Tx idk what I did wrong.

I’m kind of torn on what to do. I have six cell cams on 100 acres. The cameras have been pretty slow. I hate to waste a sit early season even on a cold front before my cameras have any decent bucks on them showing any type of pattern. Am I wrong?
I sure do! Have for over 30 years. The weather directly decides which stands I go to and if I even hunt at all, or not. The only time I hunt 100% no matter what the weather are gun season openers.
It was so hot here in northern Missouri all weekend a weekend when I had off 3 days and then I saw a low of 48 for Tuesday morning made me sick I had to go into work. Priorities right!

Was Minnesota opener considered a cold front & how good of a day would it of been to hunt? I seen 15 deer through out the day & shot my first doe of the year.

Got my first bow kill today! Got a good mature doe. Been focused on those natural food sources as the deer are hitting them hard now that beans are yellow. Definitely excited to get back out and get a good buck. Really enjoying this first season here in Minnesota.

Im in special regulation area of SW Pa. our season opened last Saturday. I will get out Thursday but I’m not seeing the bucks on camera like last year. The ones I can identify seem to have poorer racks this year.
Jeff what do you do if you kill a buck in the morning? Do you wait till after dark to go in and retrieve him so you don’t spook your bedding areas out?
Hi Drew! I do if it's cold enough. But always an assessment for time of year too. On opening day of gun it is the most critical to leave the land alone...random times during early bow are not as critical depending on what is going on with your neighbors.

How often do you see deer with cwd. I hunt in a county that is on alert but all the deer I have seen so far seem healthy and there droppings are normal looking no blood atleast and not runny
Man -- I wish we were in season here in East Texas because I would be out Thursday. We're dipping down to 50 degrees that morning AND the wind will be out of the NNW, which would be exactly the right wind (we usually get NNE-NE winds on cold fronts) for a setup that I am pretty confident is THE Spot for a really nice buck on public. I may go out and glass some open areas in some other parts of that WMA that morning.

Hi Jeff! Cant wait to go hunting, getting my deer tags today, I also.was wondering, I have a mock scrape stand with the scrape to the left and a small goldenrod patch in front of it. What should I do with the goldenrod?
Hi Isaac...coming soon!! I like to make sure that the area is cleared around the scrape for at least 10--15' circle depending on how thick the habitat. As far as food or cover the Golden rod doesn't offer either into the hunting season.

STOKED! The temps will drop to the low 40s/high 30s where I live starting Thursday this week and I'm off Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

How often do you see deer with cwd. I hunt in a county that is on alert but all the deer I have seen so far seem healthy and there droppings are normal looking no blood atleast and not runny
Man -- I wish we were in season here in East Texas because I would be out Thursday. We're dipping down to 50 degrees that morning AND the wind will be out of the NNW, which would be exactly the right wind (we usually get NNE-NE winds on cold fronts) for a setup that I am pretty confident is THE Spot for a really nice buck on public. I may go out and glass some open areas in some other parts of that WMA that morning.
Got out Monday night and saw doe and fawn movement. Hoping for some buck movement next time I’m out. Good luck folks!

Hi Jeff! Cant wait to go hunting, getting my deer tags today, I also.was wondering, I have a mock scrape stand with the scrape to the left and a small goldenrod patch in front of it. What should I do with the goldenrod?

I like to make sure that the area is cleared around the scrape for at least 10--15' circle depending on how thick the habitat. As far as food or cover the Golden rod doesn't offer either into the hunting season.
