Do not google the russo-japanese war and look into the journey the Russians had to do to get there. It will haunt your nightmares how competent and non-idiotic the russians are
Absolutely love this style of video. As for feedback, you seem to know what you're doing. The flow of the video was consistent, good sprinkling of humour, and the use of infographics was just right. It was especially nice how you explained them. As someone (Asian/Canadian) with absolutely no personal military background, I always appreciate it when people take the time to explain things. Even something as simple as abbreviations and what they mean. Not enough people explain the jargon they use. Keep up the great work! ♥
Valuable, valuable information to ascertain an accurate picture of Russia's naval capability. Wonder if Allied corvette activity in WWII in the Baltic had anything to do with Russia's love of corvettes. Type of ship will generally tell you area of deployment. Loved the comparitive charts, clear and lucid. Nice new venue, bet it's more comfy than the car. Since you asked, would love to see some sort of outline on China's capabilities, considering their current activities. I promise not to touch your boats.
To Helen Heinz: My bad. It was RN and RCN corvettes in the Northern Atlantic (with possible unauth. exc. into Baltic?). They also served in other areas. Check out Battle of the Atlantic WWII.
This is very interesting content. It's actually interesting to hear someone discussing Russia's assets. I heard a lot about "Sea power forward deployed" while I was on AD , And of course they had certain recommended reading- but the big issue of my time was Operation Enduring Freedom. Also, I served as an Active Duty support to the Naval Reserve & we were very much focused on the mobilizations that we were processing. This is a time of new challenges for sure.
I would love to see more of these kinds of videos from you. You have the voice and personality to be captivating, informative, and entertaining. I think the next comparison you should make for naval vessels would be China and the USA. I would personally love to see comparisons of armored units.
I love this content; I don’t even like military stuff usually. Military bros are just a breed I usually don’t vibe with (I’m too much a hippie) but this was all down to earth and easy to follow. Don’t touch our boats!!!
Wait; what I mean is I struggle to listen to military content creators because they’re going for some ultra testosterone, tacticool, unhealthily pro America vibe- its distracting. This gave me all the info I was looking for. I love my military bros I’ll vibe with y’all any day… wanna smoke some flower? Huh? Huh? Maybe when you’re out ;D
I appreciate this! I’ve never been the hyper masculine guy. I enjoy the stereotypical male stuff. I lift and do jiu jitsu, as an example, but I’m just not the mega tactical guy 🤷 I’m also an intel nerd lol so that may be why.
@@foxw875 not only is it in drydock, but the corruption involved with its refit has it a bit behind schedule. The aircraft it can launch cannot carry a large payload due to its STOBAR configuration. You would need several Kuznetsovs at full operational capacity to have strike equivalence of one Ford class. So even if they did have "one", they still don't have what the USN would consider "one".
I'm sure there is more outside of there, except their silly Black Sea ... uhm "fleet". And don't forget their old ass nuclear submarines, as they recently fired a missile out of those rusty ass death traps. Feisty tongues would say they could only get one to work.
It would probably be too much, but a comprehensive comparative analysis of the top 5 in whatever category (navel vessels, airframes, artillery units, armor, etc) could be fantastic. Thanks for the work and videos.
Feedback: -love the topic choice; very relevant -sweet studio/greenscreen setup; looks fantastic -lacking change in your tone of voice; your dynamic delivery is such a great part of your content and I found myself missing it in this video -vague/non-committal phrasing; all things occur over "a period of time" but, given the sound of Russia's naval potential, the "period of time" that they could realistically hold their own in open naval warfare against the US would probably only be as long as it took the US to get within range of their fleets Keep the look, up the energy a little, consider aiming for more definitive statements while avoiding vague/ambiguous ones and absolutely keep the informative videos coming! 😊
Hey, I’ve been watching you for a long while and I have to say I really like this kind of content from you! Your professionalism in explaining the technical aspects mixed with your sense of humor really blend well. If anything, I’d just like the video to be longer! Thanks boss!
4:34 okay I vaguely theoretically knew that aircraft carriers were important but the fact that they can LEVEL SMALL COUNTRIES reframes my whole view of the US armed forces. Like holy crap that's INSANE. 🤯 Now I realize why the US having like 11 of the things is brought up so frequently. I'm a civilian, so whenever I hear that our military is "the strongest in the world" I'm like 🤷♀️ cool, sure. But without any real experience with the military, it's hard to really conceptualize the numbers and the actual effectiveness of it all, y'know? But this really helped put our military into perspective for me. Good lord. That really hits home the size and strength of the US military and why it's so important. Just... woah. ...Woah.
i like colorful picture! and small coloring activity area too! with puzzle, but easy ones to not dominate my engineer-damage brain adhd. Boats and Yay! Does the russkie semi-diesel nuclear Kuznetsov still have self-radar blinding protective smoke screen?
This is great! Love your TT's and this is great insight and would love to hear more. Could you do a comparison of the difference in the generation of aircraft between the US and Russia?
In any analysis of the Russian navy, it would be worthwhile to consider the implications of the Moskva readiness report. Hopefully, if the Russians have ships in the Red Sea, they've figured out how to keep their communications and radar from interfering with each other.
you still seem so tense lol but its okay bro we all love you I could only imagine how awkward it must feel recording for that long and feeling like every thing you do is going to be judged. and i KNOW you're being waaaaaaayyyy too hard on your self. you'll find you're groove and it'll get easier but keep grinding you're doing great! and you're helping signifyingly more people on hard days where the forever nap seems like the best option than you'll every remotely understand.
I had a great LT , shout out LT Halfer. Dude was a bro. Capable and humble, Very capable in job knowledge. Never hesitated to ask questions of E-3's , E-4's for knowledge. Run through a wall type leader. A senior LT that would stand on the carpet to defend his guys. He left the Marine Corps because he didn't get commissioned as a Captain. I think you are probably that kind of O. Please sit down with Fat Electrician to work on delivery.
LT (I hope soon to see you make CPT), you study the craft, and not just the Army. I don't know the NCOs and Os that groomed you, but they had to be pretty good (including negative examples) to get you to study/think this way. This is a good video here, and it breaks it down for those not in the military as well.
Love the info and your channel. Add some energy, act more like you are talking to a friend and a little less like a book report. Its ok to smile and laugh. I would certainly watch more cintent like this from you.
As a civilian, I appreciate this content. It's been very helpful for managing my anxiety. I would like to know more about how Russia was able to convince everyone they were more formidable than they are. Do you think the economic growth they are seeing will impact their readiness or ability to resupply faster than anticipated?
Love your content. Your humour is great, and as you start adding in more "serious" pieces, I think it is great too! In regards to the Russian Navy, let's be honest. It is a bloody joke. It isn't just that most of the equipment is obsolescent, it is also that training is abysmal, leadership is worse (a kleptocracy has a penchant for creating sub-optimal militaries) and all of the cool stuff exists solely for showing off capability rather than being mass produced and being made a real capability. Look at how the Ukrainians have basically taken back the black sea without any ships of their own (just naval drones). Look at how easy it was to sink the flagship of the Russian fleet a year ago. The US has 11 supercarriers (not an official designation) - each one of our carriers carries about 180% of the assets a Russian / Chinese / French carrier does. And our training is superlative. Anyone in the US military rightfully gets to complain about how ****ed up everything is. They aren't wrong. But.... The US has the worst military in the world except for all the others (thanks Winnie for letting me misuse your quote). In addition, the fact that the Russian navy must be divided between three theatres (Pacific, North Atlantic/Baltic/Atlantic/Whatever, and the Black Sea) and all are basically totally isolated from one another, further splits their capabilities where they whole navy is never able to support itself a single contiguous whole.
What always kills me about the privates getting terrible interest rates is that it is super easy to get and set up a loan through a credit union, not a credit agency, that caters to military personnel and people in the surrounding community. I had really terrible credit and I got a 3.8 percent interest rate loan on a year old Nissan Versa that had less than 10,000 miles on it. It wasn't the flashiest car, but it did the job for a couple years until I could get a nice Chevy SUV as my trade in.
Nice. just to add, a big problem with the RU Navy is they operate independent and in isolated zones. It's exceptionally hard for their northern navel bases to aid their other zones of control and vice-versa. It's more like they have 3 mini-navy. But it occurs to me most their conflicts are land based anyways and building a big navy would probably just make the US nervous. Heard their shit got rocked in the UK conflict at sea though. Better for protecting assets than projecting power it seems.
Nice video. When you produce videos in this format, can you please cover doctrine. Could help shed some insight on what a forces 'capabilities' really are.
One issue that I believe that it’s important for any navy is the maintenance and I think that the lack of maintenance from Russia is the problem for them. From what I’ve been hearing and reading fixing a ship is very difficult.
Something to bear in mind is having a median hull age of 30+ years means that hull has gone through the fall of the Soviet Union - this means material quality issues since funds for upkeep was limited to none, funds for paying people to upkeep those limited to none. Also as for submarines, USN only operates nuclear boats.
Thank you for this video, as it is you as an Officer. Soldiers make some of the very best Air Force or Naval officers. I mean this. We need mustangs. This is my favorite video of yours so far. Can you expose how crap the Iranian forces in the Bab El Mandeb/Yemen/Red Sea/Arabian Gulf are? They are sending big RC planes with chainsaw motors to hit civilian ships, and the US Navy is countering with $3,000,000 missiles, while the Revolutionary Guard floats around in a fake merchant ship, ignored by US forces. We will likely win, but it won't be from doing it the easy way. Love your stuff brother, aMariner (mariner, not Marine)
Austin, I've been out of the Navy since 1998, but have a very active interest in Geopolitical news, and new technologies. Some of my favorite U Cylinder channels that offer open source , unclassified information and analysis are Task & Purpose, Not What You Think (NWYT), Fluctus, and a humorous take via animation is Habitual Line Crosser (HLC). The Fat Electrician channel does a great job discussing history. Ward Carroll does a fantastic job for US military aircraft discussions. I hope you can do more collaborations.
Fluctus is trash, they don’t really make any content - they take video footage already online and add really lousy narration that is consistently inaccurate. If one was to dig into the channel’s ownership I wouldn’t but surprised if it were Chinese or Russian. I’m shocked you included Fluctus amongst a list of veterans that actually generate content and share information based on their service experiences. They don’t offer any analysis or discussion, often time just word for word what’s on Wikipedia or fact sheets.
Talk about the modern UK naval capabilities. What’s good, what’s bad and is there anything truly awful? I’m sure I read somewhere that we have an aircraft carrier (in the UK navy) that has problems launching jets. I’m not sure where I read it though so it could have come to me in a dream.
In the USN and the USCG we worry about the fact that we have to defend two coasts and that we must go through the Panama Canal to move between the two. The Russian have four main areas they must protect, and it is even more difficult to move between all of them. Plus, all but their Northern Fleet must move through choke points controlled by NATO or our allies to get to the open ocean.
last I recall hearing, the russian carrier was permanently out of comission as it caught fire. It never completed a tour without being tugged back to port, and its longest ise was 1 month like a decade ago. It was ineffective and half the systems didnt work. It wasnt even stockex properly. I think its safe to say they have no carrier.
The russian ships are mostly in port. They are not actively patrolling the world like other nations. And with the ships in southern ports being attacked, their other southern ships will find it difficult to make port and break while at sea.
I would be very interested in more granularity. For example how many VLS cells Russian ships have. How many offensive vs defensive missiles do they carry. And how does that compare to the US. After the Moskova sunk reports found their way into the public domain about the ships state of repair and readiness. Is there any information available on the readiness of other Russian assets
I half expected a segue to a sponsorship from world of warships when you were citing your information sources. lol. If I’m not wrong, secret information has been leaked more than once from people arguing over in game information as they’re fairly accurately modeled.
A few things (lol not really) 10 min is a pain in the ass to fill it will get easier, the content is ok, I might have pointed out the amount of bases (maybe not where although the aspect of how we have more international "friends" might be good IDK), also the bases would fill out the logistics point you where talking about at the end. The whole tooth to tail ratio would help. Idk about the web site you where talking about but I hear THE WORLD FACTBOOK is a pretty good resource. Even though I have never clicked on it. You know the one. I don't know what the hat is (not that that really matters im not hip) but it shades your face so the lighting might need some help. I like the background but the Red throws me off. Not saying to get blue light or anything may just need some light to brighten the room or something. IDK the darkness feels off. Im not saying buy all the lights or any but maybe more warm then RED and SHADOW? That might help your camera too it looks kinda "laggy" for lack of a better word maybe cause its a high ISO? IDK. Don't beat yourself up when you make a mistake, laugh it off and continue or retake. I see the face you do after you say "I think I just had a stroke" 06:13 and it's mfw all day long. The Thumbnail is good but your pic looks like someone shat in your cereal or a depressed Wojak. I see all the initial frames from your shorts and your face is brightly lit and brand recognition is good. I think you got it it will just take repetition and then confidence comes? right IDK man. Thanks for the Vid
3:34 This the BEST picture of a submarine I have ever been blessed with!
😂
i had to go back and see ... oh, it's a picture of the russian black sea fleet...
lmao
Reviewing your review. I enjoyed it. You were clear, concise, didn't introduce opinion. You hit all the marks. Well done
Ha!
I've been terrified of the Russian navy ever since they started demonstrating to the Ukrainians the full submarine mode of all their ships.
😂 lol
Yo, you had me going there for a sec
Thefatelectrician should see this lmfao
Do not google the russo-japanese war and look into the journey the Russians had to do to get there. It will haunt your nightmares how competent and non-idiotic the russians are
Only Russia could be shown up by a country without a navy to show how Russia makes the worst not submarine that gets turned into subs
I don't have much to comment but I really enjoy the information you relay, and I appreciate the hard work you put into your content.

Hurrah another longer videos.
Hope you and yours are doing awesome!
I love colors and graphics!
I like the quick info. Pretty middle of the road, however, it was still entertaining to watch, and that counts the most.
To win a battle, study tactics. To win a war, study logistics.
I would love to see more of these kinds of videos from you. You have the voice and personality to be captivating, informative, and entertaining. I think the next comparison you should make for naval vessels would be China and the USA. I would personally love to see comparisons of armored units.

Russia's aircraft carrier CAN be overstated, though. Zinovy Rozhestvensky would toss an entire container ship full of binoculars at the Kuznetsov.
Isn't the Kuznetsov currently in drydock? So while they HAVE an aircraft carrier, they don't have an aircraft carrier.
@@foxw875 not only is it in drydock, but the corruption involved with its refit has it a bit behind schedule. The aircraft it can launch cannot carry a large payload due to its STOBAR configuration. I see you're a fellow person of culture, enlightened in the Russian navy's suckage.
Do you see torpedo boats?
Poor roz he was just surrounded by incompetence on every level possible
Definitely more content like this, very enjoyable and understandable
I am amazed Russia still has a Navy.
It really doesn't.
Two war ships in the area do not make a navy. Like back in the 70s, they are there just to take pictures despite what they've said.
I'm sure there is more outside of there, except their silly Black Sea ... uhm "fleet". And don't forget their old ass nuclear submarines, as they recently fired a missile out of those rusty ass death traps. Feisty tongues would say they could only get one to work.
Six rafts, three canoes, a tug boat and a dozen old smoking death traps and a handful of early 90s ship shaped objects… sure that’s a navy…
Really? I hear Ukraine is producing submarines for them left and right.
It would probably be too much, but a comprehensive comparative analysis of the top 5 in whatever category (navel vessels, airframes, artillery units, armor, etc) could be fantastic.
Thanks for the work and videos.
Yes please, I value your expertise.
Great video! I think having info explained like this would reassure a lot of people
It was very well done and your humour still comes through. Thank you.
Love the format would listen and learn a lot from hearing from you like this 🇬🇧
Feedback:
-love the topic choice; very relevant
-sweet studio/greenscreen setup; looks fantastic
-lacking change in your tone of voice; your dynamic delivery is such a great part of your content and I found myself missing it in this video
-vague/non-committal phrasing; all things occur over "a period of time" but, given the sound of Russia's naval potential, the "period of time" that they could realistically hold their own in open naval warfare against the US would probably only be as long as it took the US to get within range of their fleets
Keep the look, up the energy a little, consider aiming for more definitive statements while avoiding vague/ambiguous ones and absolutely keep the informative videos coming! 😊

Good job bro bro keep branching out we love your content you're good to go
Please keep doing these!
Great video! One of the first of your long forms I've seen, and I really like the fact driven analysis you did.
Honest assessment without being derogatory. Very nice. I'm old enough to remember a scarier soviet navy, when I was in West Germany.
Fantastic job as always sir!
Thank you!
Awesome video! More vids like this one would be great! Thanks for all the wonderful content!
Awesome video! I say keep making these, too. Well done.
I liked video and topic. Do leverage your experience. It is insightful for us who do not have a military background.

Love it, carry on. I like even more detail probably, but this seemed like a really legitimate overview.
Big fan of the long form video, please do more.
Thank you for providing a balanced assessment, I enjoy this type of content
great job brother!
Love your channel - hope to see more longform from you!
I thought it was super interesting. I'm learning something new and I like that very much; broadening the horizons, you know.👍💯

Moar case studies. Would be interesting to hear about how both navies have dealt with anti ship missiles in the past few years for instance.
Well done sir.
I like that this video was informative but still funny, like the picture of the submarine 😂
Please do more of these types of videos
Can I just say, seeing you in studio quality video really drove home the fact that you could have been a cast member for The Office.
I like the in depth vids! Very cool and you explain it very well. Short or long form i'm subbed for life =)
Ya know what’s weird?
I literally commented on a video last night that “US supercarriers are the lynchpin of American Naval power”
Loved the content
i dont know anything about warfare or navys, but I like listening to you :)

I've enjoyed logistics for a while now, neat stuff. Stay frosty
I love the long form content arguably more than the shorts. I would love to see a comparison of you haven’t don’t one already to china - US airforce
I have to wonder how he handles the line between content and his intel job though… That might be one of the reasons why he’s started with Navy stuff…
Great Job on the video. Well done. Very informative. Id be curious to know what percentage of the black sea fleet is left.
Thank you for doing this in a fashion that the crayon eaters and glue sniffers can understand. Excellent submarine picture also. Very informative.

Not gonna lie, Corvettes are the new Frigates.
That's me being German looking at German "Frigates".
Can you do video or series on NATO member forces and their capabilities?
Talk about the modern UK naval capabilities. What’s good, what’s bad and is there anything truly awful? I’m sure I read somewhere that we have an aircraft carrier (in the UK navy) that has problems launching jets. I’m not sure where I read it though so it could have come to me in a dream.
Let’s hear a review of airborne operations! My hot take: modern tech makes airborne operations obsolete
I would love to see you tackle the concept of smekelka and how Russia has shot itself in the foot by continuing to practice old soviet corruption
I'm sorry....is that Gogeta behind you @MandatoryFunday?!?!
🥺 What's your opinion on German frigates pleeaase?
👉👈 Are they still frigates? Are corvettes the new frigates?
Russia's carrier is more of a barge since it's towed everywhere
