    Great shots Mark! I can never get the hang of shooting rugby - I was asked to shoot the Rugby World Cup when it was in Britain 2015. I didn't have a clue! I had to have 'lessons' from my brother in law about how rugby matches go and what to look out for. It was just so different from football - a lot of stoppages when nothing happened on the field. I know you love your sports photography, but I really appreciate your landscape/woodland photography videos too.

    I hope that your shot of the try was published as it was brilliant and one of the best I have seen. I recently started watching some of your fine art and landscape videos and have previously had no great interest in sports photography. However, I have now watched and enjoyed some of your recent sports videos. Great to watch a cool professional in action as he juggles so many balls at once! Landscape photography must be a doddle after an afternoon photographing a footy match. Cheers.

    I had an afternoon. Off from shooting that day to go to the game pity I didn’t see you to say hello. I have shot some rugby but as a lifelong a tigers fan absolutely hate shooting them. The adjustment between watching as fan and shooting is just so different. So many people ask if I enjoyed the game and with a vested interest I have to say no. If you covering another game at welford rd anytime soon give me a shout before hand and will meet up to say hi

I know that you were restricted as to where you could set-up but wondered that if you had the freedom to go anywhere, where would you set-up for Rugby? At one of the ends or somewhere like the equivalent of in-line with the 18 yard box in football?

    Hi Mark
    Great video as always. I personally love shooting rugby. Not shooting often but when I do I do like it. Different feelings to football which I do regularly now. Still love shooting footbal don’t get me wrong. I am shooting at Exeter Chiefs ground. Kind of follow them as well so I wasn’t very pleased with the final score 🙂 yes very flustering about the players numbers only on their back. Completely agree on that. Great feeling to capture TRY right in front of you. I remember photographing at Sandy park when Exeter trashed Newcastle falcons 74:3 😲absolutely insane game of rugby. Not disrespect to any Newcastle fans. Out of 12 ,9 TRY of them have been scored right in front of me😀 sitting pitch site too. One of a kind madness game 😀

    Loving these videos! Aviation photography is my hobby but the camera comes along to my cricket matches and I enjoy photographing the action. Wouldn't mind expanding my sports photography in future. I'm really interested in the whole image processing bit, I always figured images were automatically uploaded and then edited at the other end. How does the process change when it is properly raining and you can't have the MacBook out?

      Thanks for watching Liam. Regarding the image editing and sending during bad weather, most of those guys have a little pop-up tent that we placed the laptop in so we can carry on editing during rain showers. It is definitely a little bit more trickier but luckily there isn’t too many games that are wet! Sat here at home in North Lincolnshire listening to typhoon is going overhead as Coningsby are on night flying this week. I must get over there soon and film a flog from Coningsby again. Thanks for watching

      @@MarkKerton Thanks Mark, it’s really interesting to see. You do a great job of talking us through everything too!
      I’m in Dorset so it’s all rotary action down here. I just had a Wildcat go over the house and spent yesterday evening photographing a Merlin at a small heliport on Portland. I must get up to Coningsby again soon, have only visited once! It would be great to see another vlog from there.

    Hi Mark.
    Recent viewer of your vids. One quick question; when you mentioned that you'd send the pic and "maybe the guys can twerk it if necessary"....do you send them a .jpg.....as opposed to the RAW file.....or both...? 😆🤷🏼‍♂️

    Be interesting to see a comparison of say the Canon 1dx Mark ii/iii against the Canon R3 in the sports and landscape areas and which is more suitable

    Hi Mark
    Just wanted to ask you how did you set up when you hit ok button in camera raw ( time 8.37) the image you was working on went into yours today folder ?
    Thanks

      Hi Stanislav. Thanks for watching the video. I usually set up a quick save action in photo shop which sends the edited image straight to my today’s folder ready to send through photo mechanic👍🏻

    there is only one thing I dislike about photographing rugby. Lack of numbers at the front of the jersey . it frustrates during every rugby match!!! The big agencies should send a petition to the Rugby Unions and make it compulsory

    Hey Mark. Why focus point on players chest as they run toward you? I would have thought focus on face?

    • @MarkKerton
      @MarkKerton  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great point Alfie. I sometimes find that at distance the focus point can struggle to keep on the tiny area of the players head, my fault entirely for not being sharp enough but I tend to just aim it towards the top of the chest a bit more to give a little bit more safety that the focus point will stay fixed. Thanks for watching mate and hope that helps

    how are you sending the images on location? I capture some sport on the side of my portrait stuff. it would save me so much time

      We send via an ftp server James, dropping the images straight into a hot folder and it sorts them straight onto the website. Great technology really. Thanks for watching👍🏻

    Hi Mark! Which mode do you usually set up for sports? AV, TV o Manual mode? Seems you also use ISO Auto mode. Thanks for your great videos.

    • @MarkKerton
      @MarkKerton  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Marcio. I always shoot in manual for all my photography. Just feel I’m in total control then. Saying that, I do use auto iso a lot as like to use the exp.comp. method. Hope that hrlps👍🏻

    When you shoot football or rugby, how do you make your money? Per shot published, or some other way?

    • @MarkKerton
      @MarkKerton  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paul there are two areas of agency work really, commission and day rate. I am very fortunate that I now shoot on a day rate which I see is quite a privilege position to have. Obviously there are still pressures involved but shooting on commission can be quite disheartening when you photograph a nil nil game and there is no story! Hope that helps and thanks for watching👍🏻

      I’d always try and go with canon kit really but if you’re on a budget sigma are probably the best alternatives👍🏻
