I agree about the challengers being a problem: inaccessible for at-home trainers, in the way for those of us lucky enough to be out and about. I feel they could have solved both problems by putting them mostly or entirely in balloons. Lots and lots of balloons, like rocket grunts in previous events. Keeps them out of the way of the pokestops, as well as available to the at-home trainers.

I appreciate that you unlike some other TH-camrs wear a mask when you go outside and you’re not gathering with random people. I’ve seen other content creators that live in the United States traveling the United States mask less meeting up with random people to play Pokémon Go. So shoutout to you for not being that guy. 👏🏿
Yeah, ended the event with 0 shinies and few with IVs that’d be useful in pvp. Not what I would call a great event by any marker. Mostly just another event that Left me feeling disappointed at the end of the day.
Played for eight hrs and got 2 shiny pinsir, 1 shiny psyduck.. I got niantic’ed. Like i would have been happy if they at least threw double exp/stardust for the event.
Just wanted to send you some love and tell you how much I appreciate you taking the pandemic seriously. I just unsubscribed from trainer club since he did the kanto tour downtown Miami playing without a mask and hanging out with a large group of people that he showed, none of them wearing a mask as well. You have been super cautious and careful to not spread the virus since the very beginning of the pandemic and I truly appreciate the work you’re doing by advocating to stay home and care for others during these times.

I planned to play a few hours, but ended up playing from 9 to 9. I enjoyed it a lot and ended up with 37 shines. Having said that, tt is very disappointing to hear that not everybody had a similar experience. Wish Niantic would find a way to make this more balanced.
Me reading the title and knowing I got 3 shinies in the first 5 hours: yeah ok bud Edit for anyone wondering: I played all 12 hours in a dense area with incense the whole time. I ended up getting 21 shinies, 11 of which have had a com day, 6 within 2020
2:46 As a rural player these people were so helpful since they gave 20 pokeballs. It kept my inventory alive with the very little stops I have access to. That is why they were so common and they were my favorite feature of this event because I always end up running out of pokeballs to quickly
While I can’t speak on behalf of the whole community, here are my thoughts on my day. Played all 12 hours & got 27 Shinies. One of these shinies included my first Shundo. One of the funnest events I have ever played in Pokémon Go. Paying homage to the nostalgia most of us players enjoyed in summer 2016. Big props to Niantic for this amazing event. 🙏🏻
I held onto my 7 day research until after the event started. It was my first shiny of the day. Quite nice bring that I traveled from Colorado to California during the event.
OMG! this was my best event yet! Got 19 shineys and played just 4 hours. And now you're telling me there is going to be a makeup day?! I can't stop smiling
Kanto your was a bit of a disaster. I got nothing from it at all even though I grinded all day. Oof Edit: to be clear i didnt buy a ticket. Didnt expect good rewards so i spent my money on another game. Even then an all day grind should've atleast given ne something. Oh well
Playing the game has been so hard in the last months. Not being able to play much outside is really dragging me down and my mental health is suffering from it. Plus, additional to my mental health there is also the seasonal depression, ugh. But im glad to see that people are still enjoying the game. Hope i will be able to enjoy it as much too one day.
I'm so happy for everyone who enjoyed the event; it wasn't a great experience for me though. I used incenses and went to non-populated areas with poke-stops, and certain (non-team exclusive) pokemons wouldn't spawn for me. (I'm looking at you, Goldeen and Dratini.) I mean, I loved the free raid passes (and the remote ones too), and the extra candies, but so much was happening all at the same time: there's the collection challenges, there's the timed challenge, there's the special research tasks, there are raids you have to do-- it was overwhelming. I didn't know paying for a ticketed event would also mean paying to be stressed out. :(
they should have put the trainers appearing in baloons also like team rocket. Also i have a friend that has a pokestop at home and they were not spawning there
Niantic lied to us with the raid and catch collections. It said you could do them in 8 days, but they didn't say that things like the regionals wouldn't be in raids after saterday. Pokemon like rattata are not included in the event spawns/incense spawns for the kanto celebration. This means that alot of people won't be able to finish everything
luckily i live next to an old air force base that has plenty of pokestops these days so the spawns are plentiful, but i have to admit, this event was the best one so far. hope these kinds of events continue even after we can venture out more like the good ol' days.

Weirdly I didn't get candy tasks for the opposite version, I got candy tasks for the version I was playing. I was Red so it was all Mankey, Oddish, Ekans and Growlithe. Luckily I didn't need extra candy but I wonder if that was a weird glitch.
I caught 45 shiny pokemon that day. I didn't know other people were not a lucky. A bunch of Mankey and Growlithe, scored on 4 Hitmonlee and a Spearow. But then again, Nick got 2 legendary shiny. I also did the legendary raids that was required, but then raided regionals of which I still missing shiny forms (did get any).
Man I smiled so big when you got your vulpix. My guts dropped when I got a Dratini and just all of the new shinies I got. 2 mr. Mime really smacked me too. And my gf getting bellsprout and vulpix. Glad you had fun bro.
Played from 9-5 mostly off of incense except to do the timed research, and had the most fun with PoGo during the entire quarantine! I got 12 shinies overall including the one I was most after, Ponyta.
It was a glitch where the shiny ditto was out early but after the event they change that shiny to regular ditto but if u look at the caught date it will say caught during the special research. So you will have two ditto one shiny and one not from the same research.

I unfortunately couldn’t utilize the full time and resources for this event, and regret spending the money on a game rather than on groceries or charity, but I am glad that I got to play for a bit with my favorite region. I hope people were able to enjoy the event
Nobody telling Nic that shiny encounters are basically 100% catch rates as long as you hit the Pokemon and he's here using Golden Raspberry and begging for it to not break out.
I am not buying any more events in this game. 3 hours before my first shiny, an effing electabuzz, then Abra, magikarp and machop, yes just 4 shinies from 12 hours of grinding. I transferred more of those shinies before the event. I'd have been better off just wiping my arse with the money I spent in the ticket and passes. Sorry if this offends anyone but u can imagine how I feel. Total waste of my time, effort and money.
Everyone in my local pokemon community had a great time. One of our discord group members received 41 shinies during the event. It was fun and sometimes stressful event.
Event was decent overall, 35 shinies here but only 18 unique ones! The 6 incense exclusives to each version were too dominant on incense for me though. They were appearing every other spawn from them, only minor though 😅
Kanto tour was pretty awesome, I can’t complain. 30+ shinies, a shiny mewtwo and two shiny zapdos from the only two raids I did for him. One sits at 99, almost my first shundo 😭
I think it's really not okay from Niantic's side that they say you can play from home but then you actually can't do much from home... but besides that I really liked the event - much more than GO Fest for some reason. The music was great and the event was somewhat nostalgic. I also got many of the shinies I wanted, which is really great (Vulpix, Sandshrew, Bellsprout etc.). I wonder what the make-up event will be like. I personally only had problems while traiding and some raid invites, but other than that it was fine. Great video as aways, Nick. Congrats on all the nice shinies!
I got 27 shinies. 2 M2's, 3 shrews, 3 meowth, 3 vulpix, and 3 new i didnt have + shinies i already had.... But the game was lagging so much during the event and i had 6 shinies the first 6 hours.... But the luck got a bit better the last 4h.... Glad to see a makeup event due to game crashing/freezing/lagging etc etc👌
For the first 4 hours I only caught one shiny and it was from a raid. After that it was an avalanche of shinies. It was nuts. I enjoyed the event a ton. In Texas where I am at there was a ton of people out in the downtown area walking around talking and raiding together. it was so cool.
I had an amazing event. Purely played from home (so couldn't do the special research as I have no stops nearby) and I completed the event with 22 shinies while chatting to friends online. I understand that people with only a few shinies aren't as excited about the event but they never promised CD level shiny spaws... only increased. How often to people get 8 shinies on a regular day? Not often - so no you didn't get 60+ shinies but it was still boosted.
I liked the event but definitely felt really overwhelmed with things to do! The Go Battle Challengers were EVERYWHERE and Raids were at every gym every 10 minutes and wild spawns were boosted along with incense spawns and lure spawns. I'm sure it was designed this way for the stay-at-home players so if you only had access to one pokestop or gym, it was playable for them.
i agree! it was a great time. i got 29 shinies on the day and the only one i was actively hunting that i didn't get was poliwag. got vulpix, psyduck, mewtwo...lots of new ones that i really wanted. the trainer battles at EVERY stop for extremely annoying after like ten minutes but that's the only thing i would have changed. well okay, one other thing i would have changed, not about the event itself, but.....that twelve hour gap between the kanto TOUR and kanto CELEBRATION really screwed me. i evolved a rank 20 venusaur for great league and a shiny rank 30 one for ultra league last night after 9pm and realized this morning that both of them had solar beam. i know it's technically my fault, but i had it in my head that the special moves were available through the end of the week. i didn't realize there was a random space of time where they weren't available and i'm very upset about it. seems like a really huge oversight on niantic's part, especially when we're all used to being able to evolve for special moves a few hours after events have ended.
I ended with 43 shinies. A Hundo lucki from the wild, and I had an absolute blast. My husband got 37 shinies! My favorite was my voltorb after 1300 checks!
The best thing about this event were the boosted candies on Magikarp. Drop a pinap berry and that was an easy 80 candies per catch... I finally have my Gyarados army (of four). 😁
I’ve dropped 12 incense and walked around, not a signal ponyta has spawned while the celebration is going on. The only way to get it is through battle league and that’s a 1/20 chance every time
I got 36 shinies over the day, 13 new ones, including Snorlax. He was the last one I caught in a streak of 8 in 10 minutes, with two sets of back to backs.
My mum got 24, her baby (didn't have a ticket got 7) and I got 18. We didn't have a single cross over for spawning shinies, which is pretty lucky. No raid shinies all day, but I did get a 4* Mewtwo :)
I totally agree with what you said about the trainers on the map. It was a good idea, but the battles took way too long and even without battling them they were a nuisance for most of the day.
Glad to see your event went well! 27 shinies for me total, so i definitely had a good time. Ekans was the same as your sandshrews, i got 5 shinies lol I also got the 2 i wanted the most: Growlithe and Mankey!

I unfortunately couldn’t utilize the full time and resources for this event, and regret spending the money on a game rather than on groceries or charity, but I am glad that I got to play for a bit with my favorite region. I hope people were able to enjoy the event
Nobody telling Nic that shiny encounters are basically 100% catch rates as long as you hit the Pokemon and he's here using Golden Raspberry and begging for it to not break out.

I am not buying any more events in this game. 3 hours before my first shiny, an effing electabuzz, then Abra, magikarp and machop, yes just 4 shinies from 12 hours of grinding. I transferred more of those shinies before the event. I'd have been better off just wiping my arse with the money I spent in the ticket and passes. Sorry if this offends anyone but u can imagine how I feel. Total waste of my time, effort and money.

Everyone in my local pokemon community had a great time. One of our discord group members received 41 shinies during the event. It was fun and sometimes stressful event.
Event was decent overall, 35 shinies here but only 18 unique ones!
The 6 incense exclusives to each version were too dominant on incense for me though. They were appearing every other spawn from them, only minor though 😅

Kanto tour was pretty awesome, I can’t complain. 30+ shinies, a shiny mewtwo and two shiny zapdos from the only two raids I did for him. One sits at 99, almost my first shundo 😭
I think it's really not okay from Niantic's side that they say you can play from home but then you actually can't do much from home... but besides that I really liked the event - much more than GO Fest for some reason. The music was great and the event was somewhat nostalgic. I also got many of the shinies I wanted, which is really great (Vulpix, Sandshrew, Bellsprout etc.). I wonder what the make-up event will be like. I personally only had problems while traiding and some raid invites, but other than that it was fine. Great video as aways, Nick. Congrats on all the nice shinies!
Pokemon Go really have to have this very good events so that content creators can give us excellent contents.

i was happy this event, i got a shiny zard, a normal zard, a blastoise, a venesuar, a pidgeot, a machamp, and i didnt have these pokemon befor

I got 27 shinies. 2 M2's, 3 shrews, 3 meowth, 3 vulpix, and 3 new i didnt have + shinies i already had....
But the game was lagging so much during the event and i had 6 shinies the first 6 hours.... But the luck got a bit better the last 4h.... Glad to see a makeup event due to game crashing/freezing/lagging etc etc👌
Sorry, this event was not it bro! The shinies just weren’t popping up like community day events. Had major buyer’s remorse 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

For the first 4 hours I only caught one shiny and it was from a raid. After that it was an avalanche of shinies. It was nuts. I enjoyed the event a ton. In Texas where I am at there was a ton of people out in the downtown area walking around talking and raiding together. it was so cool.
I had an amazing event. Purely played from home (so couldn't do the special research as I have no stops nearby) and I completed the event with 22 shinies while chatting to friends online.
I understand that people with only a few shinies aren't as excited about the event but they never promised CD level shiny spaws... only increased.
How often to people get 8 shinies on a regular day? Not often - so no you didn't get 60+ shinies but it was still boosted.
I liked the event but definitely felt really overwhelmed with things to do! The Go Battle Challengers were EVERYWHERE and Raids were at every gym every 10 minutes and wild spawns were boosted along with incense spawns and lure spawns. I'm sure it was designed this way for the stay-at-home players so if you only had access to one pokestop or gym, it was playable for them.

i agree! it was a great time. i got 29 shinies on the day and the only one i was actively hunting that i didn't get was poliwag. got vulpix, psyduck, mewtwo...lots of new ones that i really wanted. the trainer battles at EVERY stop for extremely annoying after like ten minutes but that's the only thing i would have changed.
well okay, one other thing i would have changed, not about the event itself, but.....that twelve hour gap between the kanto TOUR and kanto CELEBRATION really screwed me. i evolved a rank 20 venusaur for great league and a shiny rank 30 one for ultra league last night after 9pm and realized this morning that both of them had solar beam. i know it's technically my fault, but i had it in my head that the special moves were available through the end of the week. i didn't realize there was a random space of time where they weren't available and i'm very upset about it. seems like a really huge oversight on niantic's part, especially when we're all used to being able to evolve for special moves a few hours after events have ended.
I ended with 43 shinies. A Hundo lucki from the wild, and I had an absolute blast. My husband got 37 shinies! My favorite was my voltorb after 1300 checks!

The best thing about this event were the boosted candies on Magikarp.
Drop a pinap berry and that was an easy 80 candies per catch... I finally have my Gyarados army (of four). 😁

I got 36 shinies over the day, 13 new ones, including Snorlax. He was the last one I caught in a streak of 8 in 10 minutes, with two sets of back to backs.

My mum got 24, her baby (didn't have a ticket got 7) and I got 18.
We didn't have a single cross over for spawning shinies, which is pretty lucky. No raid shinies all day, but I did get a 4* Mewtwo :)

I totally agree with what you said about the trainers on the map. It was a good idea, but the battles took way too long and even without battling them they were a nuisance for most of the day.
