    This comment is not intentionally directed at you.
    But I've noticed that anytime that these companies want to advertise the size of their printer, they get very small men to do it.
    A large printer to me is not the same as it would be to someone that's 5 ft.
    I'm 6'5.
    If I want to print a mask I need a much larger printer space.
    In my opinion that almost equates to false advertisement.
    It's just an opinion, but it is something to consider.

    Great video, I'm thinking of getting this printer as my first 3d printer... Is it worth spending a bit more and getting the 3 in 1 version for the 3d scanner?

    The problem w the DaVinci is the maker itself. In my experience with their Orange county office is poor customer service.
    And I believe it still is today. I'm trying to buy a replacement extrusion module from them. Their website is not working. Their contact phone is not in service. I am unable to log in to my account.

      I read your comment along time ago and wrote a long response..... I deleted it.. It's hard to explain... I talk to many other TH-camrs.... The consensus is make them short and sweet. Super short.. I call it the short cut... Cut out absolutely everything that doesn't add value....Comedians do it the best.... We mere mortals just try to emulate... It's an artistic editing thing and I'm trying to find the balance..... I do think long and hard on constructive comments like this. Thank you... Tony D.

    eBay has very very good customer protection, maybe it's been 10-15 years since you have used it? My experience, I've ordered thousands and sold tens thousands of items on eBay and never been ripped off once as a customer. eBay always decides disputes in the customers favor 99.99999 % of the time. Its a buyers market. Amazon has good protection as well, but the printer has very bad reviews on Amazon as well. The benefit of ebay is you can often get 3D printeres hundreds of dollars cheaper. That said, I did enjoy your review, thanks for taking the time to make it

    ive had one for a year.
    the auto level and auto feed are garbage. but manual lvl and feed are not hard to do. you can pause half way and change color if you want too.
    this thing makes awesome prints. buildtak is a must. for either type of plastic.

    Nice job. Fittings. . . Strain relief. Should be engineered better, but if zip-tie strain relief works, keep on going. If you are going to get something this complex at this price point, you need to be prepared to tinker. (I think I am saying the same thing you said with slightly different words.)
    And thank you for your service. (The first time someone said that to me I was kind of taken aback. Vietnam draft era veteran, we pretty much did not have a choice and most guys "served" whether they wanted to or not. But there are choices now.)
    And one of the things that has to totally suck about being a TH-camr is reading the comments. I guess you kind of have to.

    obviously you back this product, but you are serously over-selling "its not a big deal" aspect on the "CONS". A simple "people seem to be hung up on this, not me, but thats YOUR CALL to make" would sound much more "NON BIAS" which is what people (atleast I THINK) are looking for.
    Either way, good video brotherman... thank you very much.

    This is a super honest review bro... I am going to be using this to print characters made in Zbrush and I am very floored by the quality and price. It's 575 on amazon right now and I get free shipping too. And the fact that I can get my filament from Matterhackers, and build my spool holder out of PVC at home depot will not deter me.
    And good point about setting up your pieces before sending it to XYZWare. I will usually take my pieces and lay them on the ground plane in Zbrush before printing. This will be my early Christmas gift.

    my dad got one brand new at a liquidation place for $300. there were two others. if I had the money I would have gotten one for myself. we are enjoying it, still learning. once simple thing is to put gorilla tape on the ceiling of the printer so the hose doesn't rub on the box structure so much. helps reduce some noise. another way is what we will try to do soon, which is an elbow that helps to angle the hose down a bit to miss the ceiling. it does bite that it can't tell when it jams or runs out (when using generic filament). usually once you get the settings for a filament set right I can trust it, just when switching companies/settings. it does seem to have a power outage resume but never tested it on purpose. my dad let me borrow it for a project with a bunch of parts and I mostly enjoyed it. there was a learning curve that I was behind on for a while. it was nice the amount of settings that could be tweaked to help quality and/or speed. we definitely have not been able to find anything near the market price that seemed to be as well built. the scanner we have never had any luck with but since he and I use engineering software we aren't usually scanning anything. I would like it if the software wouldn't auto-shrink oversized parts. it tends to do it out of proportion and even if you reset the scale it ends up not truly setting it back to original scale. overall my dad and I really enjoy the design and reliability. I love the sturdy case. would put the laptop we use to run the print software right on top and I never worried about it breaking anything. From what I have found with recent searches I still couldn't touch anything for the same price and quality. also it has me really liking a print bed that ONLY moves in the Z-axis. it seems sturdier, allows larger prints without a much larger box, and I think it helps a lot in minimizing ghosting

    Slight correction, both eBay and PayPal's protections greatly swing towards the customer rather than seller. Anyone who has sold on eBay as part of their business should know what I mean. As long as the buyer has paid money, they will capital "A" ALWAYS side with the buyer. Even if the person mediating for PayPal knows the buyer is in the wrong or broke some rule, they will flat out say that you need to make the buyer happy. I guess they sorta have to do that for business reasons but still, it can usually be a lot worse for a seller than a buyer to operate on eBay.

    One more thing you forgot in the "AWSOME" section, is that you can fit a laser etching module in it. I have it and it works really well. So the nozzle quick-release system is not only for clogged nozzles, you can actualy fit a laser in there!
    Very nice video, thumbs up!

    Just got one of these a week ago and I've fallen in love. Haven't experienced any major problems. I use a glue stick on the painter's tape and it makes a world of difference with warping. Been printing nonstop almost for 2 weeks. Just ordered the laser yesterday. Like you said people complain but I feel like they must have got a lemon. I've printed so far with cheap Inland filament and the Davinci cartridge. Once I got the temp dialed in on the Inland I haven't looked back. Been using this spool holder www.thingiverse.com/thing:1234196 works perfect

    Sorry have to say support "sucks" the software they send you with printer is on a CD not a USB. Not all computers have a CD drive. The program they send you has no way to change settings. Mine keeps crashing and support keeps wanting to log in my computer after 3 times still no luck. I may have to drop 150 just so I have to uses this Simplify3D will work.

    Yes XYZ can print parts well. I have a JR I love, but you didn't tell them about proprietary filament. and XYZ charges 2 to 3x extra for it. and you can buy extra parts. It took them 3 weeks just to make up their mind to send me a new extruder cover that came cracked. So IMO you should tell them it's a great printer IF you hack the filament and to look out for the updates that can brink it if you do. That's why I got the JR it never needs hooked up to a computer so they can't lock it up for using aftermarket filament

    • @joeharrison2073
      @joeharrison2073 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you that it sucks that the da Vinci Jr. has to use proprietary filament but that's not the case for the DaVinci Pro 1.0 3D Printer which is one of its good features.

    I love your review... It is in fact what made up my mind to buy this printer. I do have a concern about customer support. I have been in support for more than 30 years in one fashion or another. The printer came into me defective. I contacted support and was told that I should return it to Amazon. Well They had none left. The problem was simply the print head. It had a bad heater in it. I bought this for a project that we have going on and needed to use it when I purchased it. XYZ refused to do anything with the head. I had to return this one and they would review it and possibly send me a new one. I offered to pay for a new one and have them credit me when this one was sent back. That was not accepted.
    Not saying that you did not have an excellent experience with them. I however have had a horrendous experience and have yet to have it solved. Their only solution is for me to send my print head back (Which I have had to re-work to get it working) or buy a new one. Just cant seem to get t a grasp on a company that does not have any way of working on a customer problem. BTW. It has been over a month now and yes. They do stop responding. even without the rants.

    • @shadowwalker255
      @shadowwalker255 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      After 2 years owning the printer, i only contacted support once, when they gave me no ideas or no solutions, i gave up. Great (somewhat) hardware, crappy software and even worse support.
      Edit: save your 200$ and buy a Prusa I3, enclose it and you can print anything you want for cheaper and better. Xyz are the only ones that supply parts and nothing is metric so if anything goes wrong (which it will) you're screwed.

    My personal advice would be to avoid the DaVinci Pro Jr.
    It was a good printer, but the lack of heated bed was its downfall. Eventually there was nothing keeping the print sticking to the bed, which ended up making the print stick to the print head and ALL the plastic was being clogged around the print head. By the time I found it, it was too late. I took off the print head and it looked like a solid hornets nest covering the print head. It took me a few hours getting it off using a Solder iron. THEN the printer kept telling me the spool was out when it was brand new. The NFC chip was glitching and I had enough.
    I ordered the Pro 1.0 for that reason. It will solve the first issue, but I’m really hoping that the Spool chip doesn’t glitch this time. Because I really like this brand.

    • @jlbs8685
      @jlbs8685 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      DASH MAK are you smoking somthing the Jr is freaking awasome. You need to tape the bed.

    • @DunnsDayDash
      @DunnsDayDash 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      J LBS I did. I even used other adhesives.
      Even if you got it to stick, the Jr is not ideal for long prints, because all it takes is part of the print to come off, then the whole thing comes off and it’s a waste.
      One thing I have noticed, is that the Pro 1.0 doesn’t print accurate to the file dimensions.
      I felt that the Jr printed more accurately.
      Since I work with very tiny designs, the Pro 1.0 is not ideal.
      I’m just going to get an ultimaker one day and not deal with this shit.

So many people running around having baby fits over everything. Telling people that their opinions are wrong because they differ.
    Da Vinci Pro really seems to have all the features I want in my next printer. And I have my tinker 3D printer. I want a 3D printer that I haven't redesigned with my experimental parts and is just a stock workhorse. :)

      Yeah... The comments are all BS... Once you know what's going on it's a great piece of gear. I'm going to do a follow up because I''ve figured out all the issues and it's a great printer...

    Excellent review man. I do have a dumb question. If I use the exterior spool holder, how does that work with the cartridge chip? Are you printer without the chip?

    • @DrPhatMusic
      @DrPhatMusic 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Damian Roman the Pro doesn't require a cartridge to be installed, so no chip required, but it will detect low filament and auto set temps if you are using a cartridge.

    • @damroman88
      @damroman88 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your response. I install the cartridge without the chip and it has been working fine. The only problem i have now that is hard to tell how much filament I have left in the spool.

    I read that the printer only accepts their own supplies and software.

    • @Commandodesigns
      @Commandodesigns  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. That's not true. Both the Davinci Pro and Davinci Jr Pro both accept any filament you put into it.

    • @Commandodesigns
      @Commandodesigns  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as software. I believe you can use Simplify 3D if you want to. I just use the software that comes with it. The software that comes with it works great. Remember, the software with the printer just makes it print the model. You design the model in 3D Design Software which is separate.
