Chocolate num-nums for you, dear lady! Thank you for some fabulous whippet spoiling/ training strategies. You clearly know, love and respect the breed of the coolest dogs on the planet. Gotta run!
Great advice! Palm oil is horrible. Cooked bones are so dangerous. 6:40 made me laugh with your comment :) Re Rawhide.......It nearly killed our 'Lurcher' {Sighthound} as it ''Unrolled'' when it got wet with saliva and a flap of it went across her trachea... My son noticed her choking and called me...I managed to get it out, thank goodness. .
@@ShowPaws This makes my third whippet. I lost my precious Sisi about 6 months ago and her sister 2 years ago:(( Wasn’t sure after losing Siana if I was going to get another puppy 🐶 But life without a whip it just isn’t the same.
Thanks for helpful videos Adrina! My first ever whippet pup is coming home at the end of October and these have been great to get prepared. I could not be more excited! My puppy's breeder has asked if I would be interested in showing him when he is old enough. Could you please make a video about how to begin training a whippet puppy for dog shows? Thanks!
Those are minced raw meat (we use chicken with bones), filled in sausage casing and then hangs to dry outside for a few weeks (the weather has to be cool so we do it in late autumn/early winter). The process is similar to how human salami is made, no cooking involved. But I am not sure if it's practical if you have 1-2 dogs, as it's a long process. With 7 dogs here we do 100 kg at once, so we have enough for a whole year.
Really enjoy your videos! My boys love fruit 😋 my favourite snacks for them is fish they absolutely love it. I've never tried barf thought about it but haven't done it. I usually add salmon oil and other extras into their food so they get everything they need. Take care 🙂
Lucky dogs! So much dedication and love! My whippet gets Ziwi Peak and Markus-mühle with an occasional lamb/pork brain, egg (raw yolk and cooked white due to avidin) and meaty bones like pork tails for oral health she also gets some weird "human" food I eat myself on my weird diet, like fish roe. I want to let you know some things: Mind the thyroid when feeding necks! although those chicken Necks look very appetising they contain thyroid tissue with active thyroid hormones. don't stop feeding them by any means, just make sure not to overfeed and control thyroid markers in vet checkups if you wish. As for vitamin A toxicity: I wouldn't worry in the context of feeding liver. Carnivores are very resistant to Vit. A toxicity as they can excrete it through the urine, although the exact mechanism it's not understood yet. The main concern about raw meat BARF diets which it's overlooked and ignored it's "manganese" Manganese it's mainly present in plant matter, animals don't accumulate that much but they do so in the hide/pelts/feathers which, besides being unpalatable, it's usually not fed on homemade diets. Regarding commercial dog food, I'd stay away from everything containing legumes and maybe beets as major component cus they inhibit taurine absorption, which is linked to heart problems. For this reason, seemengly higher quality "grain free" foods are in reality very poor and dangerous choices. (Stay away also from millet and their goitrogens, which may be found in some alternative foods) I'd be wary also of the vegetables to feed. I'd stay away from cruciferous vegetables, spinach and anything with antinutritional factors to worry about (including fiber) If I were you I'd take the apple seeds out and focus on some low fructose carb sources which may help for those intense sprinting sessions Whippets live for.
Thank you so much for the super informative comment, I hope more people see it! ❤ They get 1-2 chicken neck every other week. The meat we feed arrives in chunks and we blend it to avoid not knowing what exactly we get. Not a fan of grain-free food and avoid legumes for many reasons but also because they affect fertility. Apples are fed without the seeds and they usually get 1/4 an apple/dog per 2 days. And the majority of greens are vegetables - it's usually bell peppers, broccoli (not too often as it makes them more gassy than they usually are LOL), zucchini, carrots, etc.
@@ShowPaws sounds like something I'd myself eat too! LoL. Mine loves tiny bell pepper bits, but I tried with raw carrots and they come out the same they came in! If you know what I mean 💩 Flax it's also worth avoiding for the same reasons you mentioned on hormones better feeding them fish and brains for O3!
Hey Adrina, your whippets are awesome and I enjoyed your show. My puppy is 5 months old. Loose leash walking is challenge. Can you make a video on whippet leash walking/heel command etc.? also can you post the link to the snack you mentioned?
Thank you ❤ I will make a video on that. My advise for you now is to be very patient and use a lot of treats. When they pull call them by name with a happy voise, use a command and reward. No pulling or harsh corrections, as they will only have a negative impact. The treats are "Alpha Spirit", there is chicken, beef, liver, turkey, duck and some more. I am not sure, however, if they are available outside of Europe.
Great information as always..when getting a new puppy{whippet} what are your thoughts on do;s n dont:S!! I also hope you have a wonderful week ahead. xxxxxxx
I am very happy you enjoy 💓 The most important things are to whippet-proof your home as much as possible, as they touch every single thing and destroy it. They also keep an eye on where you place stuff so that they can take it later LOL. Keep an eye on the pup especially at the beginning. Provide chews and chew toys to keep them busy. Start with any type of mental exercise such as teaching the most basic commands and when going for a walk make it a structured one and reward and praise a lot for everything they do that you like. Bring them with you whenever and wherever you can - car rides, park, the city, mountain, cafes. Socialise with people and introduce to gentle dogs and children. There is a lot more to it, but that's what has made all of my puppies bulletproof.
@@ShowPaws WOW Thank you so much for giving me your professional advise, very much appreciated. I do have my name down with a Whippet breeder and hoping a little puppy will join my family by the end of the year but also happy to wait for as long as it takes. Hello, great video, thank you for that :) Do you have a website or advice where to find exact recipe for that B.A.R.F dinner you are mixing for them? I have a 11 month old whippet and I want to try barf food. There are so many different advices and opinions on the internet, so I am confused. I just want to find simple straight forward recipe what to give him for a meal if possible. And I prefer it from someone who have experience, which is you :D Thank you very much in advance :)

What flavor of Happy Dog do you feed? 😊 I have very fussy whippet and I am looking for new kibble. She does not like most of kibble and no raw meat...
We feed Profi-Line Basic and Profi-Line Gold Relax 😊
