I can feel your pain. My son and I walked from Langholm to Greensykes Bothy in the Borders and then from there to Craik the next day, a total of 25 miles. It was absolutely brutal. At some points we were up to the top of our thighs in snow. I have done the CWT and can honestly say that the walk in the snow was harder than any single day of the CWT. Well done!!
Well what a stunningly beautiful trip Andrew and I’m pleased that logistically it wasn’t possible for me to make it as I’m not sure I could have managed all that snow and extreme cold too. A lovely bit of old footage of Jocks road, never been but maybe this year. A beautiful and enjoyable video Tek care 👍
Cheers Dave. It was great to be out in the Dales in proper winter conditions, it doesn't happen very often these days. I'm sure you would have coped, just got to take your time. Although it was really cold, I prefer this to damp just above freezing conditions. Catch up with you soon. 👍
Cheers Phil. Just subscribed to you too and will check out your St Cuthberts Cave video. I ran past it when I did the St Cuthberts Way Ultra, so will be interested to see it. 👍
Well done, it’s hard going when the snow is like that, energy sapping! I walk that route regularly to practise for longer multi day hikes and it’s a good day walk however in snow it’s tough especially with a full pack.
@@huntonthetrails I thought it must be that, I couldnt see any other footprints around so I was sure you were on your own, but some of the shots just had to have some kind of gadgetry involved! Theyre amazing drones, so clever. I really enjoyed this video Andy, thanks.
@@huntonthetrails Yeah, constant problem.I put my spare batteries in an seperate bag and they go in the sleeping bag with me. When Im walking, I keep them in my inside pocket. My drone has removable batteries so its a bit easier.
Nice! I love the winter season ❤
Yes, its a great time of the year if you get clear cold days. I love being in the hills on those type of days. 👍
Great video Andy good to see the Lanshan out in the winter 👍
Thanks. Yes it did ok, but I wouldn't want to use it in winter in bad weather.

Certainly, deep snow makes it very hard going, but very enjoyable in such beautiful weather 👍
Absolutely beautiful film, thank you, Subbed.
Thank you. Really glad you enjoyed it. 😁
Fabulous 👍
Cheers Mark, thanks for commenting. 👍

Your as tuff as old boots , well done ! Spectacular scenery , love the Dales .
Cheers, glad you enjoyed it. I'm probably as wrinkly as an old boot too !
Stunning mate, really was special. Just subscribed from a fellow TH-camr 😉👍

I live in Saltaire and you're right: the Settle-Carlisle line is great for being able to get into the Dales for a few days, or even day hikes.
Yes, going to continue to use it. Beats taking the car. 😁

It certainly was hard in places, but the weather was great and the area fabulous.
Beautiful Andy, cracking video mate! You bought a drone?
Cheers Phil. Had it a while ( hover air x1 ) but probably used it more on this trip as no wind !

@@PhilWaud Yes, although the batteries do not like the cold !

@@PhilWaud Same here, gopro and drone in inside pockets.
Great video. Is that a sleeping bag in a bivvy bag or just a sleeping bag
Hi Craig. Thank you. Its a sleeping bag in a bivvy bag. I have another video out on Wednesday about the kit I took on this trip.👍
@huntonthetrails cool. Do you show the sleeping bag
Yes, I go through the sleep system I used. I've been trying to go lighter weight than in previous years. Not all successful !
@@huntonthetrails cool. Can i comment on the sleeping bag on this other video please? It wont be negative
Of course you can and say what you like about it ( I do ) ....all opinions count !
Some snow shoes would not go a miss
Funnily enough my wife said the same thing. 👍
Was it hard work 😂
Did I mention that ? 😁
