    I’ve had both and I’m going back to the thermal. The ink jet gets clogged and is basically a paper weight after 6 months. The paper doesn’t stick to the skin and the stencils always come out blurry unless it’s a tiny one. Takes 5 min to print a stencil with the Epson for real. Thermal is a little tricky but once you figure out how to use it it’s the best. Take the time and make a line drawing. If you have a reference you don’t need all the shading like that, just mark out the shadows.

    Your video is very helpful, especially the close ups of the two stencils next to each other.
    Since you and a lot of other videos mention the difference in durability, I would be interested in seeing the different stencils being applied to skin and then maybe wipe a few times with green soap. Also to get an idea, if those super small details from the ink jets even transfer that well.
    Anyways ty so much for the video!

    Again, very informative, I've to say it comes down to personal preference, but the injet when set corretly shows all the shadings and dots clearer, but the thermal is capable if you hook it up to your laptop in some degree, using the thermal due to stencil ink shortage still gets the job done, having to use two paper with the violet carbon sucks, the inkjet can print with a single thermal paper, all in all it's up tó the person using it, another great2 content my friend 🤘🏻

    Hey, great video. One thing I’m wondering… normally if I do a large design, say for a back piece, I normally enlarge the design on the photo copier to a set percentage, say 50% so I know all of the design is enlarged by the same amount. I then use a thermal printer and run the now several sheets of A4 paper with different sections of the design through the stencil printer. As the thermal printer you’re using is straight to the thermal printer, do you know of any way in procreate that you can enlarge to a set amount and print it off in sections? Or put more basically, how can you print off designs that you need larger than A4 on the thermal?
    Hope I’ve made sense
    Thanks

    I've always hand stenciled up till the last year and I got a pocketjet to use. I'd have to say that it's a change in pace and I couldn't imagine going back to hand stenciling. It seems to me that a regular inkjet printer would definitely cost a lot more just on the fact that you have to buy the ink and paper

      Plus after some weeks the ink of the inkjet printer will clog and the prints will start to be from defective to end clogging definitely your print head. I spent a lot with expensive inkjet inks, papers and Epson printer that gave me a lot of troubles after some time and makes your tattoo business a nightmare... Thermal never falls and lasts forever, just need to trace your design with your favorite tablet or computer, and stencil paper. I went back to my old trusty Pentax (Brother, they're the same) and it prints like a charm like always. Never would go back to the inkjet printers.

      @anonymousprepper1463 ปีที่แล้ว

      I make sure the skin is covered over the area, I use stencil stuff, then allow the area to slightly tack, usually like 5 minutes then set the stencil.. You don't want to be able to see excess solution or the stencil will bleed.

    So, question about the Epson eco tank printer. What if you filled the black tank with black ink, then you can print a line stencil with lines you refined on procreate or whichever drawing app and run it through the thermal machine if you want. Then you filled the magenta tank with magenta ink allowing you to do a hand stencil over the print, if you want. And then fill the blue tank with inkjet stencil ink, change the colour of your digital stencil to blue on procreate before you print, which should then give you a nice purple stencil in inkjet ink giving you the best of all worlds from one printer! 🤷🏻‍♂Would this work?? I don't see why it shouldn't but curious before I buy!

      I think certain printers are capable of printing stencils with an inkjet printer. I don't have experience with many inkjet printers besides the one I have which is shown in this video. I have heard of people converting inkjet printers using the inkfuel but I wouldn't be able to confirm anything.
      I prefer to convert the image into a stencil before I print so that it can be printed via a thermal printer. I actually have a video on how I go about converting images to a printable stencil. I will link that for you below. I hope this video can help you in a better direction.

    • @DanielYuck
      @DanielYuck  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When printing tattoo stencils from an inkjet printer we want to use the carbon stencil inks. They come in bottles and we put this stencil ink in instead of regular ink.
      I also used the stencil paper as well that comes with the inkjet printer or can be purchased separately. I can link you below using my affiliate links to the gear I mentioned so you can check it out on your end.

    • @DanielYuck

      Thats a great question!
      Yes I would say that is correct. Once we print with a thermal printer all we have to do is remove the stencil sheet from the carbon sheet and we are ready to apply. Once we print with an inkjet printer we can place it down using any stencil applicant of our choice. Both are ready to apply when printed.

    Great video. Looking at the cost, it seems the good quality inkjet ink is expensive but I think if you're running a business it's pretty insignificant.

    The inkjet definitely works better than everything and for everything even the linework. And if you’re doing a full realism piece, you need to use something like the tattoo stencil app or ghost line to turn it into a stencil instead of printing the actual picture and having a purple mess.
