I think if you just drop the "JUST" from "JUST BE A GOOD HUMAN", I think you'll sell more swag. Why? Because I said so. "Just" a feeling. :) Or.. JUST BE GOOD. Or.. BE JUSTIFIED. Or... JUST BE HUMAN. Or... Okay, that's enough.
Another great folk rock singer songwriter who we lost so young. This is the music I grew up with. Unique storyteller & ballad singer. He touches your soul. He had a lot of great hits in his short career. "Photographs & Memories", "Time In A Bottle", "Operator", "I Got A Name", "Workin' At The Car Wash Blues," "Roller Derby Queen", "Lover's Cross", “Walking Back To Georgia,” "I'll Have To Say I Love You In A Song" etc.
I like watching some of his performances on TH-cam with just him and his accompionist/songwriting partner. Between songs sometimes Jim would talk to the audience and mention how he was inspired to write certain songs, or the interesting people he met that inspired a song. He just comes across as a good guy. It's kinda sad that he died right as his career started taking off. He never got to see the success, or the enjoyment his songs gave. I don't think there is such a thing as a bad Jim Croce song.
@@vincentschmitt7597 ain't that the truth. He fell into a very special category of song writers capable of telling stories that were on a different level. IMO, up there with Gordon Lightfoot and Simon & Garfunkle.
My niece danced tap in her recital to this song when she was 6. Hand on her hip and waving her finger "Don't mess around with Jim" So friggen adorable. Had to share. 💃
For my Sister's recent 65th birthday I sent/shared "Shimmy Shimmy Coco Pop" to her, because that's what she used to dance to as a tot. She knew we had told her about that, but said she didn't think she ever had actually heard the song before when she was grown.
It doesn't matter how old or young u r, what color ur skin is, what language u speak, etc.. nobody can sit still listening to this. And it just makes ya happy.
I really loved his "Workin' At The Car Wash Blues". I used to work at a courthouse and I would play Jim's song on the way to work and sing "courthouse" when he sang "car wash". There's line in that song that all these years later still makes me laugh out loud. Another fun song, along the lines of this one. But special. Really enjoy your reactions, Jamel. So much so that I come back and watch many of them over and over again!
Photographs and Memories is a 2 minute beauty that always gets an emotional reaction from me. I Got A Name too. This man’s early death was a tragedy for the world of music.
Jim was such a great storyteller. I think you'd also enjoy some of his other stories/songs like Roller Derby Queen, Speed Ball Tucker, and Working at the Car Wash Blues.
We lost so many at such young ages. Sad. Lord only knows what may have come after their untimely passing. Melissa Ward here. My best pool teacher and friend was Jim, and he really gave me a 2piece pool cue. May he rest peacefully.
Wow, this brought back a great memory of my cousins and I in the back of a station wagon riding down a two lane road singing this song at the top of our lungs.
I am so happy that younger generations have discovered so many insanely talented artists from the past. The music more than stands up to modernity - Jim Croce is a treasure.
Hey Jamel! This is my favorite Jim Croce song out of a sea of great songs. I think it's because it's such a fun song. And since I first heard it as a child, I think "Fun" was the key attraction. But Croce was a great storyteller, no matter what the subject. ☮️✌🏼 out!
This is my favorite Jim Croce, great story, great guitars (both strummed and picked), and the slight change in the beat right during the lyrics "well a hush fell over the pool room" and the backup singers in this section is magical.
I have a bootleg live show of Jim Croce before he passed away! Its epic! He talks to the crowd and does so many of his killer songs!!!! You need to hear it!!! -Nordy
Jim Croce was just a certain talent and story teller with his 🎵 songs. He accomplished a lot in his short life. My 22 year old son just loves his music. As long as it is played he will live on forever. ✌ PEACE OUT.
Dad was a skinny Alabama boy, 6'-1", 117 pounds, former Marine hand-to-hand combat instructor. Guys in his unit called him Willy McCoy because he was a hillbilly with the initials WMC. He worked as a bouncer in a Chicago club until he busted up a guy that came on to my mother and we had to head off to California... .
Man, Jim Croce is so great at tellin' stories with his lyrics. Such a great musician, gone too soon. I love this channel. Ive been subbed for while & watched a lot of your vids. But, if i'm having a bad day or just irritated, I come to this channel and I ALWAYS get in a better mood. It's great music & cool to see another person as enthusiastic about it. Jim Croce was my first “favorite” artist as a kid and I was stunned at his sudden death. It’s so cool to see you enjoy it as much as I did in the day. He wrote about his own experiences. Check out Roller Derby Queen or Speedball Tucker!
Thanks, Jamel, for your reaction here, and also for your reaction to "Leeroy Brown", which I watched a day or so ago. I'm glad you're discovering Jim Croce, as he was a giant during my youth and died way too soon. Please, though, please please please, don't think of Croce as just a good-time artist. He was so much more. Don't get me wrong -- he wrote a LOT of good-time stuff -- but songs like "Time in a Bottle", "I Got a Name" and "Operator", among many others, mark him forever as a songwriter of great depth and breadth as a human being. I hope you'll check into these other songs and more. I graduated from high school the year Croce died, and across the half-century since then, Croce still remains among the musical brightest stars in my life. I love Jom Croce my personal favorite of his “I have to say I love you in a song”. Different than the previous two you listened to but I still think you might like it
I once read he just wrote songs about characters he met while driving a truck. He tells great stories and he's musically so good. Love songs like this.
I remember having a teacher in fourth grade used to take our class out to this small sunken area outside her classroom amongst the trees with sets of wooden bleachers around and she would sit in a stool with her guitar in the middle teaching us these songs. So much fun.

I'm with you on that one
Tomorrow's Gonna Be a Brighter Day; Speed Ball Trucker and Five Short Minutes . . he was such an incredible storyteller in his songs.

This song always sounds like such a party. Everyone singing sounds like they're having a great time.
You can hear laughter in the background during the spoken part about "Yeah Big Jim got his hat...."
Jim Croce not being in the rock and roll hall of fame is criminal.
I love you Jamel! You just radiate joy and love. I smile every time I see your beautiful smile!!
