Jay,I just love your channel. My magic friends call me Bill-George. When I joined IBM and went to my first Ring 9 meeting, I was asked to help out on a trick and told them my name was Bill. Later, during the Theme of the Night performances I was asked again. When he asked my name I said George. I use George when fast food restaurants want a name for serving. So from that time they called my Bill-George and I use it now.

Met you a couple of times in New York at a few lectures. you were very approachable. would be nice to get you to lecture here in Atlanta Ga.
What a great trick! But how about using a drawing pin instead of a nail, so you can have a matching drawing pin on the other side and place the wooden block down with this one uppermost after you 'tear off the card'? As for a stage name, I suggest 'The Wizard of Odd'.
Jay, you came and spoke at a convention many, many years ago and not your typical convention for you roll to I am sure (clue). Do you remember? I will let you off the hook... it was a roller skating convention in Las Vegas. You wore this bright hot pink jacket with question marks all over it, I think they were blue or geen question marks, I am not sure. This is just another old friend from your past telling you I had a blast at the convention then and your a blast to even see you now on TH-cam. Thanks for so many years of magic Jay!

Just put a hole in the red card not a tear, then make the nail go through both ways. when you sit the wood on top of nail push it through the signed card and let the spec rip it off. it would take building a prop but would be a great effect.
I really like trick except having to set the board aside upside-down. It looks odd. What if you bent the nail over so it would lay flatter and put a duplicate bent over nail on the bottom. That way when you set it down it'd look like it was still right side up.
I don't see why you would need a duplicate. Just do exactly the same as in the video but have the nail at a 25 degree angle to the wood or something like that. You can put it on the table even with the open side facing the audience since the card will be shielded by the wood. You can pull out the nail the same way as in the video too.
Even easier, while the audience is reeling from the reveal and handling the torn card, pull the nail and lap the extra card. When their focus goes back to you, fairly show the nail in one hand and spin the board in the other. Drop everything on the table to show all the props laid out for examination.

Great trick. That tear just kills it. It's always looks so effortles, when a magician do all these subtle moves, but when I try to replicate it, it's like the worst act ever xD. I'm a terrible liar.
My name would be Gillette the razor sharp magician. I love the trick, when watching the performance I noticed the force and the double lift, but I missed the display at the end I thought you just had both cards back to back with a tear I was wondering how you got a perfect tear between the two, but this makes more sense and is easier. Great effect.
A comment back would be appreciated just an idea to change it up nail it till just the tip is right through and its sharp and have a non torn card and as you place it under pierce and tear as you pull makes sure the card is not torn and less suspicious your opinion would be great with this ?
Nice idea, its probably possible to lap or drop the card in a dispenser as in removing and replace the nail while or after giving the un-turned teared card to someone. Standing up it could be done in your back using back pocket while expecting a reaction. As for a magician name, i been looking for it for 20 years and im still using my own wich nobody heard of... But "The Impossibles Zig and Zag" is a name i used for a duo jungler-magician working outside a shop during festivals. I guess Id use "The Mysterious* ZigZag" for a solo gig with a disguise. *Corection Amazing was using twice the Zi sound with ZigZag.
