- This is an important part of converting your jon boat to a bass boat that often gets overlooked. Securing your battery addresses both safety concerns as well as meets requirements by Law depending where you live. Originally when I converted my jon boat I did the minimum install just to get my boat out on the water. It's not time to upgrade the battery install to something stronger and reliable for time to come. This is an important part of a jon boat to bass boat conversions jon boats typically do not come battery ready so building/customizing your own battery tray is crucial to a successful and safe jon boat conversion. Nice mod... I especially liked the padding under the tray to keep the wear and tear to a minimum. If you're using a heavy lead acid battery I'd go with thicker gauge aluminum for the bungie attachments as the !/16th would likely get bent out. That's a great idea. I'll add that onto the frame tray framing before I put the back deck back on. I should have thought of that lol.

I've never run out of power on these lithium batteries, and that's fishing 12 hiur days.
