The way I interpret the use of Bismillah & Alhamdulillah is through the meaning as well where Bismillah is "In the name of Allah" would you even think about doing something bad in the name of Allah. Every good deed, good pure intention that proves, emits & gives a positive benefit to you, yourself and others should we begin with Bismillah.
And upon completion Alhamdulillah, to show our thankfulness that Allah s.w.t. Had allowed us to compete the task with ease.

I'm going to be real, I think it's important that we stay honest with ourselves and hold ourselves accountable to the truth. Many people say bismillah before lighting their cigarette and alhamdulillah afterward. If we deny this, we are also sinning. I think there is a time and place for everything, so I wouldn't condemn anyone if they were to deny the truth of what I'm saying right now, even though that's more haram than the cigarette, I accept that there is a reason you're in denial about it and show you mercy.
