Cycling is a beautiful sport . Cycling in the Uk needs to be more on side with media to bring the sport more to the public, this is a great insight to a team. Well done Zwift.
From my stand point. i had chosen samara. the only problem is her age. i think they can get jess above samara's level at a certain point. by training and delelopment. that's why i think they chose her.
Jess had higher absolute power and is also significantly younger in professional athlete terms. Canyon-SRAM is more likely to use Zwift Academy to audition all-rounders as domestiques for their team leaders. Pure climbers aren’t as flexible in their usage.
@@Zwift Correct: Have to know what the team want and how they are going to fit in. I think the appliance of science route is the future - going to undercover talent that would otherwise be lost to other sports.

Really love this team and how we get to see the behind the scenes with the riders. Canyon SRAM have the best looking kit & bikes in the pro peloton. Kudos to Zwift for putting on this awesome competition. And we need more stories & vlogs with Matt & the team during the season too!

But also a great opportunity for the 2nd and 3rd place getter's to get some public exposure and recognition for their obvious talents. Even though she didn't win, was very impressed with Samara. She knew who she was, and her strengths, and used them to the best of her ability. A very formidable Zwift competitor.

Jess is young and can improve in lots of areas, but I wanted Samara to win, because she was so dominant. I think she lost it because she didn't empty herself during the Ramp test. So might have been fresher for the other races etc. Maybe too tactical?
In my younger days I was a national standard athlete (not a biker). Not a medal winner, but could just about get to the nationals. The hardest thing to do is get tough. I used to lift weights 40 minutes a day. Nobody shouting, no pictures to watch, no one watching to see if I stopped. Training your brain as well as the body. Most people can barely be out of their comfort zone for 2 minutes, these girls will be out of theirs for hours.
I think this idea/project/possibility is a very good idea and should continue in the future, because (woman)talents are everywhere on the globe as well. And with this "woman in cycling" could spread widely around and (hopefully) cathing the media's attention more than before. Good team, keep pushing!
Jess is a tough all-rounder and I think will be an asset to the team. I'm looking forward to watching how she does and how that helps improve an already stellar women's pro team.

As much as this is an excellent way to pick hidden top talent, those benefiting from this process have a duty to look after Cathy in this case make sure she is ok after going through the mincer.

Entertaining video but here is my criticism if anyone is bothered: 1) is this truly a worldwide competition? For this video and the one with Ollie Jones weren't all the contenders from areas around south africa/ australia? Is this really just coincidence? 2) if doing Zwift is a requirement for getting into the competition then this isn't fair for poorer cyclists. I'm sure there's demon riders from Colombia 3) in the ramp test u should show us the weight of the rider because that will make a big difference in real life
Hi there :) 1- Yes, it is worldwide. Everyone can enter from anywhere, and since there's no restrictions, it is global. 2- It is a Zwift competition to begin with, but as more people will get on it, more people will have the opportunity. 3- The coaches have all the data, and they are the ones who need to know these numbers. This is more what women's cycling should be about. As much about who they are as who they are on a bike. Sadly, you can't put out what God didn't put in.

Menstrual cyclus has LOTS to do with performance. Swift might want to do these tests for a whole cyclus period when trying to REALLY judge how a woman performs. This is super poorly done. Each weak is different for women.

For these to be the top3 out of 9000 riders, I think that Cathy & Samara will also pickup pro contracts with other teams.

Nothing was decided beforehand, and like the team managers explained, it all came down to the last minutes :)
