What’s preventing John McWhorter from being the major spokesperson for Black Americans is anti-intellectualism. Get over it. Listen to him. Read his books. Think.

Who's the current "major spokesperson" for Black Americans? White Americans? Hispanic Americans? Asian Americans?

I suggest, as an adjunct to Mr Mcwhorter's excellent work, the video essays and lectures of Sam Vaknin. Very interesting times we live in.

That suspension of disbelief regarding the needs of poor black grandmothers vs the defund the police movement isn't just suspension of disbelief. It is wanton, intentional stupidity to an extent of being recklessly and disgustingly evil.

And those poor black grandmothers can't go shopping because their grandchildren are looting and burning down the stores in their neighborhoods!

I agree. Black Lives Matter isn't for justice. They want revenge to vent their anti white hatred.

"Defund the Police" was a SLOGAN that only emerged in 2020. I can say thing because I worked on police/community issues for almost 40 years. It's the DUMBEST slogan eever. It ws NEVER on the agenda befoe. Police REFORM is the REAL agenda--reforms that would improve officers lives & relatonship to the communities they are supposed to serve.

Does Morgan think the US government sets prices on gasoline? I ask because she seemed to suggest that gas prices are high to discourage fossil fuel usage. Also, many Americans seem to believe that.

Holy crap. The interviewer's friend that wanted to say that she had white priviledge to her daughter's friend's mom is pathetic. WHat an embarrassment. You know damn well that woman lives in Chicago's rich white suburbs.Glenview,Glencoe,etc. I hope the interviewer developed a spine and said something

Higher gas prices translate to higher prices in the supermarket/grocery store - even if the lower income person cannot drive to the store to buy the food. Not all of us live close enough to walk (and beware ignoring the disabled). A one-time $400 debit card is a Band-Aid. And, 11 months since you posted this episode, California is now running a deficit, so those fantasy debit cards have vanished.

20:00 This dude isn't living paycheck to paycheck and has no fear of going hungry or becoming homeless.
It's easy to be dismissive of people's suffering when he's not going to be one of those people.

Most activists come from money, but they would rather make others pay while they sleep at night in bedrooms the size of some peoples apartments!

I'm surprised that as a linguist he'd consider what is referred to as the 'N' word to be a swear word sense all it is the is Spanish fir the color Black and is considered a swear word cause people let it bother them, and can't be to much of a swear word or to offensive if that's how black wanna refer to themselves and others if their Race!!
