  • The city of Memphis is anxiously awaiting the return of the Church of God in Christ`s Holy Convocation. Brandon Porter II of Greater Community Temple Church stopped by to discuss the effort behind the move to Memphis, along with another way they are giving back to the community.

Brandon Porter, II. Can you convince your dad to convince the General Board to build a COGIC arena and name it after Bishop Mason?

I thought of the same thing!!!

Martin Luther King Jr. spoke his last speech April 3, 1968 at Mason Temple. It is the one he addressed the danger of losing his life. He said he may not get to the Promised Land, but that was alright... He had been to the mountain top. Yes. That speech was given at the Mason Temple. Does it not still stand? I am thinking since the building is iconic, it still stands. Maybe the general board should ask God what to name a building or arena dedicated to Him. The late Bishop already has a memorial building named after him.

Jesse Jackson was a young man who traveled and assisted Dr. King. He stood over his dead body in disbelief and despair Aprril 4th, 1968. Dr. King had been felled by an assassin's bullet in Memphis Tennessee on an overcast morning.
But ...15 years later, he would run for president of the United States. He did remarkably well, although his bid was not successful.
In 1985, he was presented as guest speaker by the presiding bishop at the national convocation (if I am not mistaken), where he encouraged the disenfranchised to be more active in government, as we were sorely under-represented. He was not proud, but appealed to the congregation in humility.
Imho...I think if a new arena is built, asking for guidance from God in what to call it is the way to go. I am confident of it.

Supposedly restaurant and hotel workers HATE this convention, and all the headaches associated with it and supposedly again, these are some of the worst people they have to deal with, and many have said that they plan their vacation time for this event so they don’t have to go through with it.
Second, how old is Alex Coleman? That guy has been on Channel 3 since the 1980’s. Probably since 1985 or so.

LOL. Some maids from St. Louis commented on their rudeness and their get their freak on. I don't want it to come back here because it is all about money anyway

I remember when I lived in Memphis working as a house keeper at this hotel and when I tell you those people tore up the rooms, complained about everything, wanted everything for free and was cheap as hell. The worst ever and they tipped no one

PettyPattythePrincess. I am terribly sorry to hear your story about these so called saints. I heard these stories when that convocation was in Memphis before they moved and it is worse in St. Louis. I was a licensed minister for COGIC and I left because it is about money and not on God or His people. I never had to stay in a hotel and trash a room up. Comes to show people what is this so called leadership is teaching these folk. Foolishness and show. This confirms I made the right decision

I believe that home is wherever we come together. I’m not a fan of people being separated because there is not a place where we ALL can worship together. I’m not a fan of worshipping on big screen tv

ARE THEY GONNA TEACH THAT WE ARE HEBREWS, FOR IN THESE LAST DAYS THAT IS IMPORTANT. FOR IF WE ARE THE ELECT OR EVEN THE DRY BONES. THEN THE CHURCH NEEDS TO TEACH THE TRUTH OR BE JUDGE BY YAH!

      @theevangelist6178 4 ปีที่แล้ว

I guess they will be judged. They are a classic Pentecostal-holiness Trinitarian church. They don't believe in the Hebrew Israelite doctrines.

If black people are Hebrews. Why would the bible be your proof.BECAUSE the bible isn't that old.Their would be writings dating back before Ta seti.

Rodney Jenkins Ta seti dates back as far as 1991 BC. The written Bible dates back to about 4000 BC. That’s a 2000 year head start fam.

Does the city still recognize the founder of the kkk, Nathan Bedford Forrest, by honoring him with a state holiday June or July? Does that hideous statue of him still pollute the city with an ugliness that matched his heart?
And does the confederate flag still wave over the land?
Is Memphis still one of the most ratched places in the country?
Is the color green more respected than the colors of golden sand, cinnamon toast, and cocoa? I am not persuaded I should be there until Tennesee respect their place in the United States of America as a state, and let go of the idea of elite separatism.
As MLK Jr said in Memphis, April 3, 1968 (the evening before he was killed by a WS), I will be holding back my little bit of money in protest until you do us right. He said it from the Mason Temple.
Israel couldn't worship God in Egypt. They had to leave that place! I'm not going back to a vicarious Egypt, in the midst of a slew of idols.

    • @RaiderRSupastar

That statue is no longer there for some time now. First of all, Mr. Forrest did not want to be buried at that park some racist people chose to do this against his wishes. Ilearned this . We have a terrible city mayor whose term will be over next year

I used to be a server in high school. When Convocation time came around, I would have to pray for a steady spirit to deal with the "saints" when they would come to the restaurant.
