This has to be my favorite episode in a long time. What a blessing to have your son get the nicest buck in the area you’ve been hunting with your lifetime friend’s bow. That’s a God ordained hunt if Ive ever seen one. Wow.

At 26:22 I understand. You have these spots and you cant hunt them all at same time. You want someone you can share those spots with. And now you can have the rat slayer in a good position. And you can continue to scratch that itch and see whats over the next rise. I get it.
My kid wont hunt with me and has no interest. I have so many spot marked i wish i could put someone on to hunt while im checking out another.

I will say in regards to the opening of the video when they found all that hot sign Sept 16th. I’m in MN and harvest a nice 7 pointer opening day… the oak island I was hunting was TORE UP. I have hunted that island for years and never seen this much sign this early. That along with the mass acorn crop makes me think something about the early drought this year pushed everything up in the North Midwest

HELL YEAH SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA WE HUNT SO MUCH SWAMP ON THE WEST SIDE THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER AND ITS ALWAYS AWESOME!! Like a said on the east side in southeast Louisiana we have a 80,000 acre’s that’s not walkable unless you know what when where and how to walk or you will be gone

Always heard story’s of the legendary rat slayer good to see him back at it!
I found an area with an aggressive rub line already with trees seriously gored and a scrape line with several scrapes already opened up. Also found a giant community scrape freshly pawed up. Biggest scrape I can ever remember seeing. I can't recall ever finding week+ old sign like this in late September. I've also concluded it must be a couple of good bucks already drawing boundaries where their territories meet or overlap. Congratulations on an awesome buck!

The shot was great but you sent that arrow at the perfect time great job love the father son content it’s so relatable and I’m sure I’m not the only one, keep it up guys appreciate it.
After a 10 year vacation from hunting its interesting how well and composed the Rat was. There are plenty of spots where he could of dropped the string and he risked the buck leaving thru a non shootable window at any time, yet kept the camera on him and waited for the perfect shot... Pretty cool!
I totally agree. As a veteran hunter who has shot several nice bucks, that's something I still struggle with. I always feel like I try to rush things. I was so impressed with his patience, he has ice running through his veins 😊.
All the rut sign - Could be that odd Sept doe came into heat? When that happens and you are there it can be fatastic as all the bucks will be drawn to that single doe.
Also, I am glad some of you are showing that expandables can make for quick kills. I don't shoot them as a trad archer but even an old crusty like me can tell when the archer does their part they put them down quickly - usually far quicker than any other head. Great hunt and it was nice to see son and dad out there hunting together again.

Dan that was a fledgling Great Horned Owl, they often wind up on the ground, where they will continue to get fed by the adults. Probably only "appeared" injured because at that stage they haven't mastered flying yet and you guys flushed it.
It was taken to a owl rehab center where it was determined to have broken bones and a badly infected wing. The only way to save it would of been to amputate the wing but federal law prohibits that procedure on owls so it was put down and put out of its misery by the rehab center.

We’re getting hammered with sign in PA. I do wonder if the light winters has helped the buck doe ratio a bit
