    Everyone has been jumping on the 6.5 Creedmoor bandwagon, so i'm glad to see that the .243 Winchester hasn't been completely forgotten about. Thanks for the uploads!

    Just an observation- that's a good way to double powder if you're not careful. Powder, move over to an empty hole, repeat until finished. Not sure how full your case is after one throw but in general it's a good habit. Thanks for the great video!!!

    Hello from Down Under,
    Have really enjoyed RPR series so far!!!
    I have learnt so much.
    I am just about to put a deposit on a RPR in .308.
    Shame there is a 3-6 month wait for them here.
    Keep up the good work.
    Thank You .

      Congrats David! Hoping to make it to Australia some day... If it's any consolation, wait times are similar here in the USA.

    It is a pity that Ruger no longer manufactures its Precision chassis rifle in the caliber 243 wincheste as at the beginning, its barrel had an interesting twist

      Just watched one that was in rough shape go for $1500 on Gunbroker. It even had rust. Plus the fact the price didn’t include tax or shipping.

    Question: why put the bullet in the case as you raise it up instead of placing one in each case in the container? Wouldn't that be more effective?

    From two months ago, I ask.."What was your load with the 105 Hornady and Varget , and also do you
    have the Length to Land for your 243win?..I have been working with, 105
    Hornady Match, 32.2gr of Varget with 2.70" length giving me about a
    .041" bullet jump to land, for my Ruger precision...I would like you
    input please.."

    • @Vader4tw
      @Vader4tw 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Leo, you should measure from the 0give to the base of the case (CBTO)for a more consistent value. You will have to measure your lands yourself, all guns are different. Use the OCW method for your own tune in .3 increments or you may miss a node. I shoot a 6x47 Lapua..running 37.4 grains of 4451 on a 22" barrel with a can. defiance/Kreiger gun.

    • @lja4429
      @lja4429 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for you help..I'm thinking of ordering a Hornady headspace gauge now for 243 win and later 308 win to in-prove my consistency at reloading and at the range...any input for this before I order...I would like to give you more background on my reloading, but that would take a two page dissertation....thanks

    What is the twist rate on your rifle

  • @phedhrogorrero
    @phedhrogorrero 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Reloading question. If a load calls for 90 gr. Fmjbt, can i substitute a different type bullet of the same weight? ( ex. A 90 gr. Hollow point flat bottom bullet). Or a same type but different brand, is it safe?

    GREAT video, excellent info for shooters new to the hobby. You have more presses and loading equipment than any 10 of us shooters watching - do you buy and own all that stuff or is some of it for testing and reviews ?

    Are you trimming every time with the 243 brass for consistency? I have an rpr in 243, thinking about switching to a different caliber but I really like the 243.

      GO WITH A .260 REMINGTON MATCH CHAMBER OR .260 ACKLEY IMPOROVED MATCH CHAMBER.😉👉

    What cases brand are you using?

    • @Ultimatereloader
      @Ultimatereloader  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hornady for .243 Winchester. Just realized how nice it is to have only one headstamp to deal with!

    • @Spidouz
      @Spidouz 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      gavintoobe Thank you Gavin! Yeah, I just got to the same conclusion. I think I'm wasting a lot of time by having cases from many different origins, and therefore trying to develop a load with too much variables and inconsistencies already. And then I used some cases from cheap factory ammo, but was not perfectly happy so far. So I think it might be time to invest in a good set of quality cases from the same brand! I guess we cannot be cheap on everything... LOL :)

    • @Vader4tw

      buy a box of lapua. 1 box will allow you to shoot the barrel out.

    great video! ordering a LnL kit now! question, when seating, do you onload the primer dispenser? I see the shuttle going and wonder if it's dangerous while seating. Thanks!

    • @Ultimatereloader
      @Ultimatereloader  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome! The primers are loaded 100 at a time into the drop tube behind the press- you refill when they are empty.

  • @VitoBb1978
    @VitoBb1978 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Gavin great video your load looks very interesting. You didn't say which brand of brass, OAL, or primer you used. What's the barrel length and twist rate of the Ruger Precision ?

  • @desspamer
    @desspamer 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    A bit dangerous to use the same case holder that your prepared brass is sitting in to pour powder in as well, separate the prepped brass from the charged brass....I use a green tray for prepped brass and then once I poured powder I move the case over to a red tray one by one,.. much less chance of doing a double load!.....stay safe and happy shooting!

    • @Ultimatereloader
      @Ultimatereloader  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can't do a double load with this cartridge, and I always do a visual over all cases before seating bullets, because the real risk is a squib (no charge) load! But, each one of us has their own process. Whatever it takes to be safe!

    Like everything about the video except the loud music which adds nothing to the content.

  • @Vader4tw
    @Vader4tw 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Your having to hold forward on the case because other wise it will hit the die on the way up.
    You should go buy a chargemaster, that scale sucks
    Buy some Mitutoyo calipers they rock.
    Measure a loaded round, then subtract how much neck tension you want. I find 1-1.5 thou perfect
    Turning case necks makes better ammo.
    You should also tell your viewers that IMR 4451 leaves carbon fouling in the barrel which takes a different cleaner, but it does shoot very smooth over H4350.
