  • Iron Heart and western shirts go hand in hand and yet until now I still hadn't even tried one on let alone own one. The IHSH-235 is Iron Heart's military serge western in a lovely subtle grey colour.
    Here are my thoughts on my very first western shirt.

    Great review, Cameron! I can only second you regarding the „cost per wear“. It only works out though if one really wears the pieces and doesn’t add new ones.. (note to myself: stop buying shirts) 😅 While I easily get 300 wear days out of my jeans, equaling to 1€/wear, I own only very few shirts with over 100 wear days, and 3€/wear is not cheap by any means 😬

    I think its called "yoke", western shirts have snap buttons as an practical breakaway feature, where snaps release if the shirt gets caught on a fence, saddle horn, etc, and the shirt fits you very good! :)

    I think the rationale is strong, and keeps me coming back. Once you witness the price per wear, quality, fit, and style you quickly realize it's well worth it. Love that color btw.

    Looks great. Biggest drawback on Westerns over Works shirts for me as well is the tighter arm pit hole.

      The denim doesn’t stretch a little like a pair of jeans would? Maybe try a size up over the work shirts

    • @bsousa3837
      @bsousa3837 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@orlog3343 I’ve never attempted to push a stretch in the pits as I do in the waist w a pair of denim (I also require extra aluminum in my deodorant… so, yeah, I need the room) I will say that w IH westerns, not all arm pit holes are created equal; the UHFs are much tighter in this area and do force me to size up -and yes, sometimes I am forced for the love of the snap. In this instance, the sleeves are usually an inch too long but can correct w an aggressive wash.

    • @bsousa3837
      @bsousa3837 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StrickenBiged I don’t think many people run into these issues. Our boy Cameron is one of the few to point this out; many often point to the boxier cut of the work shirt but do not elaborate from there.
      They are few and far apart, but some websites offer an arm hole measurement; Correlection (think I’m misspelling it, Aussie store) comes to mind, very helpful .

    I love it Cameron, I have the green one and absolutely love it, I can’t help feel a bit special when I wear it. How much that is to do with the price I’m not sure but thinking it’s a quality, you can just feel it.

      @@CameronO To be honest I’ve not actually washed it yet. I’ve been keeping with Iron Heart recommendation of not washing it very regularly. I mainly wear it in the evening going out, so it’s a few hours here and a few hours there. I always tend to wear a thin T under it also.
      It will be interesting to see it after I have washed it,also wether the fabric softens, I’d imagine it will!

      @@tom43x34 I understand, I have got it wrong in the past and had to faff about with returns and replacements. Best thing to do is measure your best fitting similar item and compare to their size charts. They will not ship without first emailing you to check sizing and give you the chance to ask questions about it though, and their staff are very helpful and knowledgeable about the products and sizing.

    Hey Cameron, love your video and have been following your for a while. Keep it up. For this shirt, I own both the olive in XL and black in XXL. The thing about it is I'm usually a xxl in the UHF and XL is normal. And despite that, even the XXL in black still somehow restrict my armpit. Like you, it bothers me quite a bit. But like you, these just look so fantastic. And as I own a few more of other westerns, they don't fit like this me 235 at all. You should really give the good old 33s or the wabash a try. Work shirts are awesome, but the westerns really makes you sexy :). They are brilliant.

    • @CameronO
      @CameronO  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Frank, right on. I think you nailed it. It's opened my eyes to westerns now. It's not good for the wallet haha. The arm pit thing is something that I will get used to I think.

  • @kdhershb

      Oh wow really. Is it the same with all of their shirts?

  • @DanielSzilagyi
    @DanielSzilagyi ปีที่แล้ว

    I just got this in a black and went for a much more slim to body fit ( I got a small even though I'm about 6'3 and 170lbs) and while the sleeves are without a doubt too short it's fine since I don't like to have them down for these sorts of shirts.
    It is a thick but comfy shirt, and like jeans...needs to be broken in a bit ;)

  • @IlCaroSassone
    @IlCaroSassone 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Also with Iron Heart Westerns they fit me perfectly in L. That said, if I wanted to layer I’d have to size up to an XL. My next one might be an XL so I have one I can wear as an overshirt. Otherwise, nothing underneath but a T-shirt.

    • @CameronO
      @CameronO  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agree Caro. I would love to try an XL to see how it looks/feels. Good option for a different look i guess.

  • @SummerlinW

    Thanks for the review. I went with brown although olive looked good. I think I might eventually get the whipcord western shirt in olive. I also did notice the arm holes were slightly higher than the normal western UHF. But the sleeve length did feel longer than my UHF. I love snap buttons but definitely did go with the kersey work shirt based on your review. I think for the kersey fabric the work shirt is definitely a more comfortable fit.
