Well said 👏🏼 the concept of "looking expensive" is whack lol, like who are we dressing for and why do we need to control other peoples' perceptions of us? I focus more on looking and feeling different, unique, interesting, challenging. I don't really care if I look "expensive" - that's more for the outside world to discern (and it's kinda pointless imo lol).
I shop at estate sales and “vintage” shops, and have quite a nice wardrobe! The vintage shops in better neighborhoods usually have the best selections.
Great advice mate - starting to get a very similar ideology with my own dressing after years of fawning over expensive Japanese stuff… finding some amazing cheap stuff in charity shops at the moment (particularly retro st.michael bits) which fit my style great and get the looks I’m going for without the price tag
Regarding buttons. I brought a French Chore coat but need to move the cuff buttons so i don't have to unfasten them whenever I put on the jacket. The jacket is a very deep indigo blue but I am thinking of using bright red thread when I move the cuff buttons for something "extra". The chest buttons will have the factory blue thread left on.
Hi mate, great video! Apologies if you already know this, but the Drakes model you mention at 1:15 is Mark Cho, the owner of Drakes & the Armoury. Their TH-cam channel is the best imo! youtube.com/@thearmourytv?si=sZSZ_2IgSti9_-TQ
Amen.

This is such a refreshing video and I love your emphasis on using your own creativity to find suitable alternates to existing fashion and fits

I own a few things from Drakes and they haven't actually held up anywhere near as well as the stuff I bought from M&S around the same time

Big change from the mod gear. But still looks smart 👍🏻
